This came out when I met my husband in 1986. Lovely song, lovely times. We were together for 34 yrs until I lost him in2020 to cancer at 58 yrs old. This song takes me back.....love you Gareth miss you love.... ❤️❤️
Best decade for music, movies, fashion, everything.... Although I was only a kid and grew up in the 90's, I look back at the 80's and think how beautiful it was. It was a much simpler time, everything was bright and shiny and everything was possible. We were innocent, we had respect for everyone and we lived every day to its fullest. Imo best decade ever.
@@paulmac131 Sorry to say this, but you are looking back at the decade with rose coloured glasses. It's the decade that was formed by the mantra of the yuppies, "Greed is Good". Speed and Coke got spread from big metropoles to rural areas and became very cheap. Large corps became conglomerates and bought up smaller and medium size businesses, then drove small family driven businesses bankrupt (a trend that still exists). It´s the first decade where the children of workers and lower middle class didn't get a better living than their parents! A trend that have continued to this day in all western countries. For this reason we talk about "the poor 80'ies". I'm having lots of fun discussions with friends, weather 60'ies, 70'ies, 80'ies or 90'ies was the best decade for music. Our age seem to influence it a lot. Recently I saw a react video where rock from my youth in the 80'ies was called "classic rock" and that made me feel old (am born in '68), a few days later I saw another react video where she called "Enjoy the Silence" with Depeche Mode for Classic synthpop. Convinced me that I might be old 😀 Oh well, been to a two day metal festival and a four band metal concert evening this month, and both half of the performers and audience were just as grey haired as I am. Made me feel normal again. 😀 However I need to get in shape again, gained 30 kg after I stopped smoking, so jumping and dancing to so many concerts make me sore for five days. 🤣
My Mum went to school with Carole Decker in Wellington. She used to come over for sleepovers and my grandma would always ask Carole to sing a song in the morning hahah. Years later, Carole is doing Tracks of My Years on BBC Radio 2, and says a particular song reminds her of a crush she had on someone at school, and (by name) mentioned my Mum's first husband. LOL

I was a hostage in Iraq in 1990. The day we were being released the guard gave us a bottle of Johnnie Walker and an old cassette player with a compilation tape. This was the first music I heard after 4 months waiting to be bombed or executed. It's still a bit emotional. Peace.
