      Best decade for music, movies, fashion, everything.... Although I was only a kid and grew up in the 90's, I look back at the 80's and think how beautiful it was. It was a much simpler time, everything was bright and shiny and everything was possible. We were innocent, we had respect for everyone and we lived every day to its fullest. Imo best decade ever.

    • @Kiilerich66
      @Kiilerich66 5 месяцев назад

      @@paulmac131 Sorry to say this, but you are looking back at the decade with rose coloured glasses.
      It's the decade that was formed by the mantra of the yuppies, "Greed is Good". Speed and Coke got spread from big metropoles to rural areas and became very cheap. Large corps became conglomerates and bought up smaller and medium size businesses, then drove small family driven businesses bankrupt (a trend that still exists).
      It´s the first decade where the children of workers and lower middle class didn't get a better living than their parents! A trend that have continued to this day in all western countries. For this reason we talk about "the poor 80'ies".
      I'm having lots of fun discussions with friends, weather 60'ies, 70'ies, 80'ies or 90'ies was the best decade for music. Our age seem to influence it a lot. Recently I saw a react video where rock from my youth in the 80'ies was called "classic rock" and that made me feel old (am born in '68), a few days later I saw another react video where she called "Enjoy the Silence" with Depeche Mode for Classic synthpop. Convinced me that I might be old 😀
      Oh well, been to a two day metal festival and a four band metal concert evening this month, and both half of the performers and audience were just as grey haired as I am. Made me feel normal again. 😀
      However I need to get in shape again, gained 30 kg after I stopped smoking, so jumping and dancing to so many concerts make me sore for five days. 🤣

    My Mum went to school with Carole Decker in Wellington. She used to come over for sleepovers and my grandma would always ask Carole to sing a song in the morning hahah. Years later, Carole is doing Tracks of My Years on BBC Radio 2, and says a particular song reminds her of a crush she had on someone at school, and (by name) mentioned my Mum's first husband. LOL

    I was born hottest summer on record in may 1976 and I remember this song from my childhood as it was just my mum and myself and we had to escape from my fathers clutches all the way from Liverpool to Inverness where my mum was from before met my dad worked as a nanny in London Town at aged 17 she left home to go to london through a family friend she got the job and top floor of the family’s house too, so few years later we ended up say 80 miles south of Inverness and my mum worked as barmaid in the pub right across the street from our little old cottage from council it’s windows were rotten no heating only coal fire in the living room but we had family and friends in this tight knit community so I would often just play with my best friend who’s father owned the bar and my friend died at aged 12 then another at 14 and so on it kept going year after year but I actually just heard this Old Great Song at the end of a film and waited for the titles to find out who the name was of band.! Took almost 15 minutes
    I knew the 80s and I remember I would go to shop for mum and get full 20 off cigarettes for £ 1
    I don’t know how much they are now ? I know theyr certainly not £ 1
    Great song and so is the heaven 1 it was on the film not china 1
    So military service at 16 and im stopped there im 46 years old now and still Soldiering On wards

    Wow, the 80s - what a time to be alive. The music of that era may offer a small glimpse into that age but no one who wasn't alive back then will ever be able to fully understand what it was like.

      I reckon. Remember crowds in those days at sport and concerts. People living in the moment and getting into it. No phones and just enjoying the atmosphere. I miss that.

    Was 11ish when this came over the radio, nearin 50 now n all alone in the late, dark night listenin to this again, the decades of memories, all the souls u've met, the lingering past n places n people! Only the vibes of 80s music can pull this magical moment off, not 70s, 90s nor the noughties, thank heavens i lived thru it
