    I'm curious why use the 7300 and 7100 in the same rig? Other than the waterfall on the 7300 and the vhf/uhf on the 7100 they seem to have very similar specs. Im still working on getting my general, but im looking real hard at getting the 7100 as a buy once do everything rig.

      Good point, I first got the 7100 then the 7300 a year later for the waterfall. The HF part is similar on both but the 7100 is an all around do everything radio that I want to keep more than the 7300. For the waterfall I can now use the SDRPlay with the 7100. The 7100 is a very good radio. Good luck on your General! 73

    Where did you get the Goose neck lamp with Red Led? thx

    • @VE2FGJ
      @VE2FGJ  3 года назад

      Hi Frank, It is a 12V Table Mount Goose Neck Lamp, original color is white, the lamp blew up after running it on 13.8V for too long, replaced the lamp with Red Led Strip (3). Thinking about adding a dimmer to it. Got it from Addison: addison-electronique.com/en/products/hardware-tools/gooseneck-lamp-table-mount-type/

      Thanks for the question, with the car, the antenna is a MFJ-1910 33FT TELESCOPIC FIBERGLASS POLE, Icom AH-4 Auto Tuner, 5 radials approx 12 feet. At home I use a custom made Fan-Dipole 80M-6M. 73!

      @@VE2FGJ Hi Frank, I have I've been wanting to build a go box for sometime and now have decided to do it. I have a Gator 6u case and will be putting a Icom 7300 and a 5100 but wondering what gauge wire I should use.

    • @VE2FGJ
      @VE2FGJ  2 года назад +1

      @@Outlander1963UK Wire rated for Max Current of all items. I can't remember mine is 10-12 gage for main distribution, less for smaller devices. Secondly important is a Power Distribution Box with independant fuses, I used a RigRunner 4004U, many other models can be fine. Good luck Paul with your build, 73!

    I thought the car had to be in a position to move if you are calling "mobile" ?

      Right, I now use "Portable". More appropriate. :)
