    I’ve been flipping PCs as a hobby since Sep 2022 and have done over 70 builds so far. Like you, I almost always use used GPUs, CPUs, and motherboards, whereas cases, SSDs are almost always purchased new. RAM and PSUs are about 50/50. EBay isn’t reliable for good deals in Canada, as most sellers are in the US and shipping costs are expensive. However, I have had a lot of success with the hardwareswap subreddit, which I’ve used to secure great deals on used GPUs and CPU/motherboard/RAM combos. People also tend to know the fair value of parts, whereas prices on FBM are usually inflated. I’ve definitely used the test bench trick a few times as well!

    It's a good thing you mentioned that PC flipping is not a get rich quick endeavour. I feel like a lot of people who get into flipping (anything, not just PCs) think it will make them a lot of money very quickly.
    Oh and with regards to eBay, they have one heck of a Buyer Protection program. Such that it deters a lot of would be scammers (and sometimes legit sellers). Basically if anything a buyer gets is broken, the buyer will get their money back.

    • @Alpha-ms9nj
      @Alpha-ms9nj 7 месяцев назад +5

      I'm just starting out and would like to offer buyers a 15 or 30 return window but I've heard that there are also buyers who are scammers and swap parts then cry foul to Ebay. I value my reputation and would NEVER EVER sell a garbage item to ANYONE and I build stuff as if I'm going to keep it or gift it to a family member but I don't feel comfortable offering returns because of fear of getting ripped off by a buyer.

    • @Lurch-Bot
      @Lurch-Bot 6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah. Still annoying when you have to order 4 kits of RAM to get one that works. Some idiot who shouldn't be selling PC parts listed a 16GB kit of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 and only sent half the kit🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ Just tested a kit of Patriot G2 RAM that ran at 1333 MHz but would not boot at the rated speed of 1600MHz. IDK if it was ignorance in testing it or the fact they wrapped it in bubble wrap with no anti static bag but every delay means that build you've put your blood, sweat and tears into gets less money on the sale. When you are working with components that are already several years old, it is a very real problem. Trying to get to the point I can afford to build with new or at least much newer components. I'm looking at the Arc A580 as being a GPU that can help get me selling all new PCs, along with the 14100. I've already got a handle on inexpensive parts for finishing out such a build.

    *I use all the same strategy as you bar the "Bringing the rig" in UK it's normal to pick stuff up from people's houses, I would never meet in a random place.*
    *For myself I found the sweet spot to be 400-500 builds to sell well with good margins, this is the area where many people decide they would rather have a PC than a similar priced XBOX X or PS5. Higher than that & the target market is lower so sales take longer.*
    *Like you said RGB sells, combined with good wire management! I sometimes find a clean builds with decent specs but wire management is bad going for below market, those are the ones that I like because less work and easy profit!*

    • @nobodycares1631
      @nobodycares1631 7 месяцев назад +1

      True, one of my friends refused to buy a pc without RGB, he had so little money that he was going to get an AMD A10, and a 1030! I kept on telling him that a good pc costs ~1000 but he continued, doesn't even know what an SSD is, and gets a 500gb HDD. Now he knows how expensive they are, but then again, he thought some ~69£ pc with an igpu was a steal

I don't know which way I will end up going - if you could do a video on becoming a custom computer builder at Facebook Marketplace that would be awesome!
    I thought about what you said to help filter out scam sellers. I think it would work even better to just ask the seller if you could bring a test bench with you to test the part. No need for any deception there, they will still ghost you if the part would fail, right?

I lately got called out for an unpackaged monitor and I'm afraid that item might get damaged from handheld commute and they said post reception "digital payment" despite them being near? It's so hard to sell now cuz they're faceboomers in the marketplace. any way for me get another go at flipping without compromising my safety/image. I work full time retail and work as a care provider for my grandmother, I'd say maybe I could do 1pc a week if I'm lucky.
    For my situation it's more like flipping 1 PC a month.
    Maybe I could do more than 1/mo but in addition to care providing for my grandmother I do have three son's I have to spend time with too.
    Now ok once in a while I could make father son time a PC build day with a nice lunch or dinner at a decent to good restaurant and actually teach my boy's a bit about PC building.
    Added: that might be a good option if my son's are receptive.
