  • Here's a new, up-to-date version of things you can do in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but not in New Horizons. It's still current for 2022. Not only have some previously outdated parts been removed, but I've added several new things I forgot to include last time. Here's the list of things you can do in ACNL, but not in ACNH:
    0:05 1. Send a musical letter.
    0:10 2. Play snowman bingo.
0:15 3. Find designs on tree stumps.
0:20 4. Rent your own exhibit space.
    0:25 5. Play hide-and-seek.
    0:30 6. Shop at GracieGrace.
0:35 7. Celebrate April Fools' Day with Blanca.
    0:40 8. Be the mayor.
    0:45 9. Collect signatures for a petition.
    0:49 10. Find a four-leaf clover.
0:54 11. Visit the Reset Surveillance Center.
    0:59 12. Use a toy hammer.
1:04 13. Customize furniture with ore.
1:09 14. Earn badges from Phineas.
1:14 15. Grow perfect fruit trees.
1:19 16. Grow mangos, bananas, & other fruit.
    1:24 17. Renovate town hall.
1:29 18. Play a video game within the game.
1:34 19. Sit on rocks in town.
1:39 20. Play online for free.
    1:43 21. Play multi-player mini-games.
1:48 22. Check your HHA score daily.
    1:53 23. Receive goodbye letters.
    1:58 24. Do a campfire dance.
    2:03 25. Use a megaphone.
2:08 26. Eat a famous mushroom to grow!
2:13 27. Take Katie to another town.
2:18 28. Play with random players.
2:23 29. Run into former villagers.
    2:28 30. Plant a town tree.
2:32 31. View your town history.
    2:37 32. Wear a Mii mask.
2:42 33. See who visited your dream.
2:47 34. Visit the police station.
2:52 35. Visit the post office.
    2:57 36. Shop at Re-Tail.
3:02 37. Check out RVs of special characters.
    3:07 38. Expand your side/back rooms to 8x8.
3:12 39. Use QR codes without paid account.
    3:17 40. Use a Roman candle.
    3:21 41. Bury a time capsule.
3:26 42. Earn unbreakable golden tools.
3:31 43. See homes of people you've StreetPassed.
    3:36 44. Bury a tricky pitfall seed.
    3:41 45. Access your storage in a friend's town.
    3:46 46. Fully customize a mannequin.
    3:51 47. Work a part-time job at the Roost.
    3:56 48. See the next hour's weather.
4:01 49. Attend an awards ceremony.
And to be clear, this is not an attack on New Horizons. It may not be the most traditional Animal Crossing game, but it's great in its own way.
If for any reason, you want to see the old, outdated version of this video (with 65 things), it's at • 65 Things You Can Do i... .

When I played Home Designer and compared it to Happy Home Paradise, here are my outcomes:
      HHD:
      Place rugs outside
Good variety of house design choices.
More town amenities: Bigger school, convenience store, another store, concert hall, hotel.
      Have up to 3 rooms
Search bar (I have to rely on Nooklink if I want to search for something in HHP)
A variety of window designs and doors
      Include a basement
      Have more Nintendo Themed stuff
Change the house back to single room if needed.
      HHP:
Change the size of the house without moving back to do so.
      More sound variety
Have roommates without use of Amiibo
Name the villagers’ homes and amenities.
Change the time of day and weather and leave it there
Place wall mounted items in different rows
Change the design of the doorway/stairway
Have animated wallpapers and flooring with cool effects
Celebrate after you design a certain amount of homes
      DJ KK
      Swim around the resort
      Customizing fences and inclines
      Use posters
Polish furniture giving them a special effect
Buy things with Poki at the stores or the resort office.
      Donate materials for countertops
Although I enjoyed both games, in Happy Home Paradise, there are stuff that’s missing from Happy Home Designer from 2015.

I know nook miles achievements are a replacement for the badges and are technically better since they give you nook miles you can actually use to get a reward...but i think phineas's badges are more satisfying to get...they are harder to get and when you do get them, you get to find phineas in town and he gives them to you, plus seeing your badge collection grow is so satisfying. I remember for whatever reason, phineas couldnt come to give me my badge for a while because it was raining or something, but when he did, he gave me a whole bunch of badges i earned in the time it took him to get here.

Well Horizons could've had both, maybe Phineas could've given players some unique items for each badge earned. Say like catching a set amount of fish earned you a shark tooth necklace to wear.
Or perhaps we could go into actual upgrades instead, like earning bug badges making all bugs a bit less likely to flee from you, fish badges making the catch rate slightly higher, fossil badges making a chance for more fossils to appear per day, etc.

I wasn’t very fond of the Nook Miles system. In previous games, you were rewarded for doing tasks by talking with villagers and doing favors with them. Not only did you get a reward from doing these tasks, but the reward was much more immediate, you got funny dialogue, and you also obtained self-satisfaction from helping out your neighbors and just being a good person! The nook miles pretty much take away that self-satisfaction you get from helping neighbors and feel purely video gamey. In my 200+ hours playing this game, I have only received less than 15 requests from neighbors, while actively trying to get them to ask me for stuff.

honestly, new horizons just feels like a decorating simulator, they saw everyone loved making dream addresses and leant into it at the expense of actual gameplay, things like the island minigames, hide and seek w/ ur villagers, sending them letters, kicking ball with them, great island escape, special fetch quests, the only real gameplay in nh i find fun is villager island hopping cause it feels like an rng game lol, as someone who enjoyed villagers way more than decorating it makes me sad :( and don't tell me to just play the older games, i do like decorating, i just wish they hadn't sacrificed villager interaction and fun for it, but they've been going down this path for the past 3 games so i know i won't get my wish for it to get better

And the fact that you could run into villagers that had moved out was a heartwarming and super cool thing.

  • @alexmuniz9286
    @alexmuniz9286 2 года назад +35

I’m a weird way it feels like new horizons takes place in an alternate reality because new leaf just closed so many open boxes. Brewster finally got his own restaurant, Katrina, kicks, Luna, Harriet, Dr Shrunk and Leif got their own shops on Main Street (minus the next expansion where the garden shop becomes apart of nooks), Tortimer retired to a tropical island run by Kapp’n and his family, Labelle finally reconnected with her sisters and joined work forces with them, and Lyle finally had a set location rather than chasing you around your town. In new horizons everyone is kind of all over the place. I love the idea of Harvey’s island with the little camp ground but I feel like they’re tossing all these characters into the same category of npc’s we wanna buy stuff from rather than individual characters with unique back story’s. Is tortimer’s storage service really necessary when we have the storage shed?

Gosh this brings back a lot of memories. Honestly just looking at these screenshots, they're filled with more character and personality than most of NH in my opinion. That's like the one thing I hated the most about it (along with the missing features above). I was waiting for things to kick in as I played the first 5-10 hours but unfortunately that never came. Everybody and everything just feels too nice and perfect in NH and it honestly just feel like they're there just to add "life" to whatever picturesque village you want to make.
If town building isn't your thing (which it wasn't for me and still kinda isn't for me. I have around 110 hours as of writing this, shared across the dlc and base game) then the game gets stale like 15 hours in. But I still kept on playing it hoping to find what I found in NL. Honestly if NL got a remake with NH graphics, along with some features and changes. It would be my ideal AC game. But of course that's just me. I've been feeling this way since launch but it's like if you had any apposing ideas about NH back then people would say it's your fault or whatever and to just "go back to NL"

Give us access to all past games' music and then give us an option with Isabelle where we can customize the hourly soundtrack. Switch songs around, mix and match the songs from all the games, and if you really want, just make every hour 11AM from New Leaf or something. And once you get tired of that, just switch it up again.

I miss a lot of stuff from New Leaf, especially the minigames, Tortimer Island, and seeing your history with previous villagers visiting.
However, the main thing that made me stop playing NL is because I was having such a hard time arranging my inventory.
In NL, order to find an item in storage, you would have to press each item in your inventory to read the name.
And if you don't know what an item looks like, you need to go inside, check it out, and decide if you want it or not.
Those kind of things really made it hard to continue past a certain point of getting a lot of items. Especially with only 16 slots in your inventory. It was just overwhelming.
Also I really like having brown skin on my character, cause that's my skin color, and you can't really do that in NL.

Right. I really like New Leaf, but I felt so stifled when it came to designing the town because villagers would plop down anywhere and potentially ruin the idea I had. This was such a cute quick video! I love when people don’t drag things out and I feel like this was a perfect video!
