He was still killing people, and was basically just a serial killer hiding out in the jungle murdering random people in the Philippines for decades. Eventually he was returned home and is kinda lionized by certain parts of Japanese media to this day.
As a recovering rabid Johnlock shipper who spent a decade in Johnlock hell, wrote a massive amount of fanfic, believed in it till the end, and is now still nursing the burn of queerbaiting and bad writing, I don't know if I am brave enough to watch this one. The second hand embarrassment might obliterate me.

The only healing I got from the wounds left by the Steven Moffat Sherlock show was watching older Sherlock shows, to where the version of JohnLock that I genuinely like now is from the 1984 Sherlock show, where really I only see Sherlock and John Watson in a QPR. It's because of how rampant the show makes clear (by being an as accurate adaptation of the books) of Sherlock being aroace and John being straight, but them finding comfortability and satisfaction in living together (Hell, the show even writes out John's marriage despite keeping everything else from the books in).
It's honestly hilarious that supernatural wrote an eleven year long slow burn romance but could never commit out of fear that there might be a random homophobic dude who's accidentally still watching

i admire carely's explanation of tjlc but i feel like you can't talk about the apple tree yard conspiracy without going into detail of what happened with the last episode of season 4 because yes we were crazy but my god it cannot be overstated just how bad that season and particularly the episode of sherlock was. the major reveals were that sherlock had a secret sister who was so insane her parents shipped her off to an island in isolation and only mycroft remembers here. it's also revealed that the dog sherlock kept thinking about wasn't actually a dog. no no that was his BEST FRIEND who he used to play pirates with and who fell down a well and died. so he forgot about said best friend and imagined a dog anyway. the reason this is absolutely absurd is because the entire show hypes up how much of a genius sherlock is. he's soo smart he's actually infuriating. but he somehow forgot both a sister and best friend. but that's not the only thing that got us to the secret 4th episode theory. season 3 had a special 4th episode so it wasn't unheard of. (or season 4 had an episode 0. however you look at it.) BUT ALSO it leaked like a few days before it was supposed to air. so the fandom watched it and was like this is actually the worst television i've ever seen in my entire life, it has to be a fake leak right? so we waited for the episode to air and it was the actual episode. and again this has to be some type of trick. well the episode was airing in theaters and they wouldn't put literally the worst episode of probably any television show to ever exist in a bunch of theaters right? they aired the fake one as a scapegoat and we're all supposed to watch the real episode in theaters. i went to the theaters. it was the actual episode. so desperate to salvage what's left of this show, we managed to connect some dots with mary's character and the plot of apple tree yard and we were so hopeful that maybe just maybe that was our saving grace but alas.

Did watch a couple episodes of Doctor Who and Supernatural and liked them well enough, but I never fully got into them. I was finishing college/prepping for grad school between seasons 3 and 4, and in my first year of grad school when season 4 aired. This also seems to have been when the fandom was falling apart (or at least going dormant), so all the Johnlock conspiracy and fandom implosion was news to me. I had other stuff I was paying more attention to at that point, but fandom history fascinates me, so I'm hungry for more learning!

Oh this was a time to be on the internet! I was def one of the “superwholock” fans but I didn’t post on tumblr much then i just watched the shows and enjoyed them but doctor who was and still is my fav show to come out of it. Don’t get me wrong I was still doing cringe shit irl though. I have horrible yet hilarious stories from those times. I also wasn’t much of a shipper. I saw the shippers and was like good for you guys but i didn’t care much about them. I’m also surprised David Tennants name wasn’t uttered once this whole video. I was a late bloomer to Sherlock. Three things I experienced during my late arrival to this show: johnlock v. Sherolly (will not get into it) Whether sherlock really is a sociopath considering his emotions get in the way throughout the entire show Sherlock’s asexuality. I will insert my opinion on that here. People say the writers ruined that by Sherlock having sex with his partners. I will add that I don’t think they did. Some people who are asexual want to share that connection with their partners by having sex even though that is not always their thing. He could be demisexual. If he shares an attraction with someone, he waits until he has some kind of intellectual or emotional attraction (we know his emotions come into play on the show), that is when he has sex with someone. There is still asexual elements in the character, in my opinion. Still don’t get how they made (what’s her name again) her a lesbian and have her be sexually attracted to Sherlock. That made no sense.
Queerbaiting is actually one of the longest-running traditions in Doctor Who. The actors for The Second Doctor and his male companion, Jamie, wanted to see how much they could slip past the censors for their own amusement and played the Doctor and Jamie like they were fucking offscreen, all the way back in the 1960s. You can still find plenty of gifs of the two half a century later.
yeah so when i first heard of superwholock i automatically assumed the super part was for superman and then lived my life in ignorance for a while. i even read part of a fic once and was like "huh i dont know these superman characters, are they sidekicks? wild"

So like, my entire childhood from ages 0 to like 12 were spent obsessed with Doctor Who. I'm talking magazine subscription, drawing my own crude posters, watching all the spinoffs etc etc. I never had a Tumblr ever, all my knowledge of it has been second hand information, but I used to live and breath that show and i could go on about it for hoursss!! I say all that because i realised when you started explaining the premise of the show, i have never ever had to explain it ever. I'm Scottish, so thats not necessarily an abnormality or anything, it was something most kids were talking about. But i had this moment where i was like "wait how would i even explain this?" cause some of the iconic things from that show are, being real, so weird. I haven't been keeping up with the show as much but my god, that show used to be the one thing my entire life revolved around.

Oh this was a time to be on the internet! I was def one of the “superwholock” fans but I didn’t post on tumblr much then i just watched the shows and enjoyed them but doctor who was and still is my fav show to come out of it. Don’t get me wrong I was still doing cringe shit irl though. I have horrible yet hilarious stories from those times. I also wasn’t much of a shipper. I saw the shippers and was like good for you guys but i didn’t care much about them. I’m also surprised David Tennants name wasn’t uttered once this whole video. David Tennant ran so Matt Smith could also run just slightly faster
I stopped watching supernatural around season 9 cus i was getting tired of it and the vampire diaries was more interesting to me lol. and i watched all of sherlock too but i didn’t care much for the last 2 seasons. Doctor who has stayed consistent tho. Can’t wait for Ncuti’s first season premiering this week!

I was a late bloomer to Sherlock.

Sherlock’s asexuality. I will insert my opinion on that here. People say the writers ruined that by Sherlock having sex with his partners. I will add that I don’t think they did.
Some people who are asexual want to share that connection with their partners by having sex even though that is not always their thing.
He could be demisexual. If he shares an attraction with someone, he waits until he has some kind of intellectual or emotional attraction (we know his emotions come into play on the show), that is when he has sex with someone.
There is still asexual elements in the character, in my opinion.
Still don’t get how they made (what’s her name again) her a lesbian and have her be sexually attracted to Sherlock. That made no sense.
Queerbaiting is actually one of the longest-running traditions in Doctor Who. The actors for The Second Doctor and his male companion, Jamie, wanted to see how much they could slip past the censors for their own amusement and played the Doctor and Jamie like they were fucking offscreen, all the way back in the 1960s. You can still find plenty of gifs of the two half a century later.

I didn't have a Tumblr growing up and I only watched Doctor Who (and even then, I stopped watching Doctor Who after the 10th Doctor), so this is all very fascinating to me. definitely need a pt 2, I have so many unanswered questions
I still use tumblr to this day. I made my blog in 2012 and it feels like i cant really leave
So like, my entire childhood from ages 0 to like 12 were spent obsessed with Doctor Who. I'm talking magazine subscription, drawing my own crude posters, watching all the spinoffs etc etc. I never had a Tumblr ever, all my knowledge of it has been second hand information, but I used to live and breath that show and i could go on about it for hoursss!!
I say all that because i realised when you started explaining the premise of the show, i have never ever had to explain it ever. I'm Scottish, so thats not necessarily an abnormality or anything, it was something most kids were talking about. But i had this moment where i was like "wait how would i even explain this?" cause some of the iconic things from that show are, being real, so weird.
I haven't been keeping up with the show as much but my god, that show used to be the one thing my entire life revolved around.
