We forgive you! Glad it didn’t burn, all the work you’ve done
I almost had a heart attack when I read the title. My heart fell down in my stomach. So thankful it wasn't what I thought. PS.. love the boat!
Yes…. I was worried….especially what happened to the house that was built in Montana burnt to the ground.
Relieved that all is well❤️
The work ethics of your children are really something to be proud of. Even though I've never meet them personally, I'm Sure proud of them!
I just read 2nd Thessalonians 3 yesterday and it reminds me of you and your boys... you will always have food on your table, you're not lazy... you're righteous hardworking men.👏👏👏
Blessings! 💚 your Cali sister!
Ps. I'm righteously proud of this family!

❤️👍🏼
So glad to see that a lightning strike didn't burn down your house. As a little girl, I loved helping my Dad with his building projects, my brothers would rather go play with their friends. I was a Daddy's girl, loved the smell of fresh cut or sanded wood. Seeing the finished project always felt so good to know that you helped to create something that was useful and pretty. I even dropped out of high school because they wouldn't let me take wood shop or auto shop, they said girls will be wives, secretaries, or receptionists (YUCK!). I just always loved working with my hands. But you and your family make so many beautiful things. You are very meticulous (like my Dad was), but you make everyday items look like a pieces of art. Just wish this old body and finances would let me experiment with my saws and my grandfather's hand carving tools. Please keep sharing your projects and builds with us, you really lift the spirit of this old lady and give me hope for the future generations as you pass on your gift/talent to your children. God Bless and Protect You All!
👍🏼❤️🙏🏼
My wife and I enjoy watching your family and your journey. What a tremendous example you both are, not just to your children but to many. God Bless your home
Ty!!
I have seen this before. Not on an entire cabin, but on a root cellar that Shawn James built under his new cabin in Canada. His channel is My Self Reliance. Your cabin will be well protected by the time you are done. It's awesome👍!
You are living the American dream ✨️ 💙 you and your family 👪 give other people hope. God bless 🙌 you and your family 👪 🙏 ❤️
Joas Miller what a STINKER! You totally got Jim & I 😲🙃😲 You are so in trouble Lol...😉😂😉 You guys are doing Awesome 😀 Excellent work 👏 👍 👏
You scared me! I thought you had lost your home! So thankful you didn’t! Really enjoying watching the progress of y’all’s extremely hard work!!
When I read the title I yelled,”Oh no!!!”. My husband came dashing into the room to make sure I was ok!😂 It seems you have upset quite a few people with this title I’m sure that when you read the comments and realise how much people care about your family you won’t do it again. You work so hard Joas and your children are amazing helpers. God bless you all and keep you safe
I thought the home burned down. I've seen this done before, but putting it as the tag caused concern and I thought "oh no, not their new home"
I nearly did as I read but then I recognized the Japanese term, and was Ok. Deliberate burn not burned down.
It scared the tar out of me after seeing the Montana house that burnt oh my goodness I'm so glad you guys are doing well, and David is a lovely person for coming and helping y'all out
Oh my you made our hearts drop to get so far in the conditions of rain you were working in to lose it all?! Praise God it did not burn down.
The family that stay together lives together….Something like that….you have a beautiful working family….God bless you….stay safe guys….watch out for the bears, hehehehe
My heart did skip a beat when I saw the title. I was saying. "No, no, please God, no," I was very relieved to discover it was all good. Thanks for another wonderful video.
I am so "thankful" that you still have your home that you all work so hard on. Very soon, you all will be living in it and it will be a "rich blessings" to you all that you all worked on it together. Praise the Lord!!!
Hi, Lilian, how are you doing?
The burning gives the house character. I think it looks good. You guys did a great job. Wow!!!👍😊
❤ I know there are many joys 😊 awaiting you as a reward for all your diligence and perseverance. Your family is a testament to us all, of how God honors and provides for His own. I am so blessed by your children and the precious ones that they are. I pray for God’s continued blessings and His favor as you preserver to the completion of your Alaska home. ❤ From Tennessee.

Your boys do a man’s work . I am amazed. They are doing u proud.
It did scare me. After all the work you have done. So glad it was intended.
Yes---that was a very scarey opening. all I could think of is all the hard work all of you have put into it !
What progress on your new home. Soon you’ll have a string of young women wanting one of your capable young sons next to them. So very impressive how hard you all work.
❤️😀
My Self Reliance has done/ spoken about the log burning process [Japanese way]. He too, is building his log cabin again, solo and without power tools. Enjoying your [ + his] channel since you know so much
Your title scared me! So thankful your house did not burn to the ground! Your house is coming along nicely! Thank you for taking us on your journey through rain or shine!

I was extremely upset, seeing the picture and the title...before I could get the story opened to read it. I’m so thankful it was just something you intended to do! What a relief! Those twin sons of yours are amazing! They have worked like adults on this entire project. I’m sure you are extremely proud of them. I’m glad you let the kids have some fun, making a boat of sorts! I know they had fun with it. You are making good progress on your home and you will soon have it under roof! I know you’re very thankful for that! Happy for you!
What great footage ….how I appreciate your perseverance….your guys are such good help ….”building a business” ….they are not “boys “ but men …good job dad 🥰🙏
I love that style of burning wood. I wouldn't mind my future Meadowlark home having that!

We got double our annual precipitation for August here as well. Now we're setting record high temps for over a week straight. Such a strange summer. The burned and then sanded looks pretty neat.

Very creative of the boys...
The Japanese burning may take extra time- but it’s so effective!!! Beautiful!! 💜
Wow, I was about to cry when I saw the title, I was remembering the cabin you folks built that burned🙏🏼
Love your videos thank you for sharing
Incredible! I love Shou Sugi ban. James Hardie has an exterior siding that looks great, but this is on another level. Brilliant to apply this technique to a log cabin. I’ll have to show this to my wife when convincing her to do this when we build in Maine.
Your boys have amazing skills at such a young age! Actually all of your children do!
Looks so good. So exciting. 😁
Looking good.
Like the black "stain", what a great idea- price is great too!
Your boys are truly amazing !!!!!!! Everything is looking wonderful!
Whew,,,, ,, , what a relief.., ☺️, I think it's gonna look pretty awesome once you have it done like you want it... I love your homemade boat😊.. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️
Your boys are so advanced for there age. They are such great boys❤️❤️
My heart stopped when I read the title. First thing that came into my mind "dear God, NO". Soo happy that, that was not the situation. Looks great, I've seen this done to another log home. God bless you guys.
Yes, my heart skipped a beat! I do recall seeing something of this burning method. Very cool! It’s fun to watch your progress. Be safe.
That's a heck of a cabin build. Love the draw knife & shou Sugi ban look, will be extremely durable and sharp looking. Traditional finish is pure tung oil, here in the US most folks are using BLO for a finish as it allows the timbers to breathe and can be reapplied w/ very little prep work. Stay away from any commercially made surface finish like spar varnish or polyurethane. I would spray that T&G w/ Boracare or boric acid w/ ethylene glycol. There was definitely some water saturation in storage and it almost looked to have some bug activity. That mix will remedy any fungal or bug issues. Best Regards.
I was also worried it burned, and it actually looks like it did!! Can't wait to see the finished product.
We experienced a house fire 10 years ago so I was really sad when I read the title. So glad it wasn't an actual fire.
WoW love 💘 the air bnb I'll have to go back in and check out the pictures 📸 . Love your Alaskan home 🏡.
All i want to say is WOW WOW !!!!!!! LOVE the burned technique you guys work so hard ,
What a fascinating concept . Looks like you stained it. GORGEOUS. Your home is really taking shape !
Awesome WORK 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🤗
Thank god bless my favorite family
It’s going to be BEAUTIFUL
HELLO PRISCILLA & JOAS...THAT SANDING RESULT ON THE SHOU SUGI BAN LOOKS AMAZING! BEAUTIFUL GRAIN SHOWING THROUGH...PRAY THE SUN CONTINUES TO BREAK THROUGH AS YOU WORK ON THE CABIN...THE VIDEOS ARE TOO SHORT...HOPEFULLY, YOU CAN MAKE THEM LONGER...AND I DIDN'T FREAK WHEN I SAW THE TITLE, AS I KNOW WHAT SHOU SUGI BAN IS...WHAT A GREAT IDEA FOR THE CABIN...ALL THE BEST 🙏;)
Great job so far!!!!
I love the burned look! Good seeing you guys again today.
See you soon Neighbor!
Very impressive work ! And the young lads are awesome !
GUYS!!! You totally scared me! 😆
Will be interesting to see how it turns out. I've been planning to do this for years on a cabin here in Japan. Shou sugi ban is just a brand name outside Japan, so glad you said Yaki-sugi which is what its actually called. Yaki, pronounced yah-key, is the Japanese word for cooking or burning something over a fire and Sugi, pronounced Sue-gee is the tree sugi or Japanese red ceder so it translates to "burned ceder" basically.
Beautiful house... the black outside really top of the line... :)
It is great putting down roots. Hope your raspberries do well. Love the sanded side the best.
I so look forward to your videos, I was starting to feel so sad for you thought for sure you had a fire. It is so awesome to be able to follow your house journey.
I'm sure it's too late now but you should have put a mess screen over your vent hole so that bees, wasps, etc. would not have access to build hives in between your tough and grove and the roof. Love the idea of you burning the logs. Back in 1978 my husband, his dad and I built a log home and we burnt the doors and put big rot iron hinges on them. We also used a pre-cut log home package. It turned out beautiful.
We will!
I thought my pacemaker stopped when I saw your house on fire. I love the new look. Whew!!
🫣❤️
Beautiful progress. God Bless from Georgia - Becky and Reid
What a great video.
I’m familiar with that technique so, I wasn’t scared :) I think it’ll look beautifully “vintage” when it’s all sanded. Nice work!
Awesome
Burned and sanded looks great
Omgeeee it’s going to be beautiful 😍
I was heartsick and said "oh no." Your helpers work so hard!
I watch another Alaska program and he burns logs that go into the ground. I was crossing my fingers that your burn was a planned event! Looks great too! BTW, the creativity of the boat: AMAZING!
GREAT IDEA.
THE CABIN LOOKS BEAUTIFUL
