  • Meet the 2024 Mercedes GLS 450 4MATIC in Polar White, my first Mercedes press vehicle! As Tested at $92,510, the facelifted GLS here sports the AMG Line with Night Package, 21in AMG wheels and a MB Tex Brown/Black interior. Loaded with tech, the GLS continues to offer a smooth ride, a smooth powertrain though at a price that is a tough swallow for the base engine.

@Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: The entry level GLS450 4Matic makes 375HP and 369 lb-ft of torque from a 3.0L Turbo mild hybrid Inline-6 cylinder engine. Power is strong and I got up to 25MPG on the highway. The ISG + 48v start/stop system is world class an buttery smooth on startups.

    👍🏼 Highs:
+The engine is incredibly smooth with strong power and a refined Inline-6 sound; 48v system and ISG are some of the best i’ve tested.
+The Interior is packed with my favorite version of MBUX, the one that retains physical buttons. Build quality was strong on this tester.
+Power third and second row seats are very welcome, operate like magic.
    👎🏻 Lows:
-The air suspension ride is purely focused on luxury and comfort which is great, though is often unsettled over some harsher pavement leading to a hopping side to side motion.
-The GLS is not an athlete. Steering is light, suspension is cushy. Corners are not its friends, that is where the BMW X7 and competitors shine.
-The design is greatly improved for 2024 though it lacks the looks of a vehicle that costs nearly $100k.
-Features like massage seats, rear sun shades, a HUD, and more are not standard on a $90k+ vehicle.
    8/10

Overall, i think that this SUV is pretty nice tbh, however, there are some room for improvement given the price.

When comparing the price of the GLS vs X7, keep in mind that Mercedes makes standard many features BMW forces you to option. Having driven both vehicles multiple times I prefer the GLS experience overall. Imo BMW misses the mark on its cumbersome electronics and obnoxious dash design. Fun to drive, but not relaxing to operate.

That’s largely down to preference. I personally prefer idrive and their interfaces way more over Mercedes. That being said the GLS is the most luxury comfort option while the X7 focuses on luxury dynamics
