I just want to say “ thank you” to all our customers that have been coming to Sun-Ray since 1963. They tell us that they’re bringing our pizza to Nevada or Texas, Vermont, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, New York and many places in New Jersey. Our loyalists bring it to hospitals, nursing homes and a 90 year olds birthday party because that’s what they want. Remember Dean Martin’s song, “Fly me to the moon”? Sun-Ray Pizza is known for its Sicilian Pie, but we are also known as a Custom Made Shop. We make it the way you like it. Many of our first timers come because they tasted it somewhere else and wanted to know where this came from. I am the real deal, 100% Italian blood and as the label says “Made in Italy” When going to grammar school, I would walk to downtown Paterson to help my Dad. For our customers that had the privilege of knowing my Dad , hearing him say “Hello Goomba” and “Enjoy the Best !” If Dean Martin was still alive he would change the lyrics to, “When the moon hits your eyes like a big pizza pie, go to Sun-Ray”. Sun Ray makes great pizza. I think a big part of the reason their pizza is so good is the quality of the ingredients. I've been waiting for Dave to finally get over there and review it. His score should've been in the 8s, but hey.
Feel-good review? He basically berated the poor guy who was obviously sincere, slightly nervous and made him a pie the way he likes it. Guys ego is off the charts and if you’ve read anything about how he treats girls he’s a world class scumbag
My gut says if they took some of the sweet out of that sauce on the round pie, they may have gotten a 7.9 or 8.1. Everything else about that pizza looked spot on. Thin, legitimately crispy, good cook, a lot to love there.
My family got the Sicilian my entire childhood. It's a naturally sweet sauce, not cooked down like most pizza sauces. Pizza Town had the same type of sweetness, I'm surprised he didn't pick up on it when he was there. It's not overly sweet though.
I have gone here when I was a kid in the 60's to the 80's when we moved. Just recently a customer, stopped in to my car repair business in Montague NJ and told me he was a relative. I told him while I haven't had it in a while it was always top notch.

This review definitely hits home a bit since I can say I’ve had this pizza a countless number of times. By the way, the crowd is correct. The Sicilian is the best one.
Now that's giving a real score! Great history, brothers working on the spot, grandson working the register and homage to the father who started it all and El Pres gives them a 7.6 / 7.7! I would of buckled and put it in the 8's just for that Disney cast of a family.
I was born and raised in Paterson, my dad took us all the time! Every time I come back to NJ which is often, I have to have it! I use to have them partially cook it, put it in ziplock bags and freeze them being home in my suitcase!
The sauce is not sweet really, it just doesn't have a ton of spices in it and wasn't overly cooked, both of which cover the natural sweetness of the tomato. I personally love when pizzerias use a raw sauce and let it cook in the oven.
That’s when you gotta have your own “taste” kick in. He likes it tangy, we all know that. Pizza looked bomb to me. If I was in that town I’d go there for sure.
