True, but what is the difference between 8.4, 8.5, 8.6 etc…
It is the number he comes ip with in in his head at that point in time that is in the ballpark of what he thinks.
His absolute certainty on miniscule score differences is what makes his videos popular, even though he would later second guess most of them off camera.

Hell yeah.. Theres an italian spot by me opens at midnight. Closes at 4 AM... Best bread ive ever had. Best pasta. Almost the best pizza. When they're open; people file in and out buying gallons of sauce. Only people running it is an old lady cooking; her son seating people and taking orders. And some guy that sits outside smoking cigarettes between deliveries. 😂
Truly is an awesome spot. Im not a night owl. But I stayed up for this place many times.

Most all the places, at least the vg ones, didn't need his help. If anything, all of the North Jersey trash who were at the beach saw this video, and burnt up the telephone lines when this came out to the point that they stopped taking 'take out' calls. They can all GFThemselves.

This is hands down one of my favorite reviews. I feel like I could picture myself in Dave’s shoes just meeting all these new people. The vibes really lent to the score I feel. It shows and I love that.

Been eating their pies for a LOOOOONG time... later in life When I moved into the house next door they brought over 2 pies and said welcome to the neighborhood... my 2 all time favorites...Nunzios and Vic's....

I know this place & I went to school with Louie & Snookie! In fact, Louie was in my home room. They lived a couple of blocks away from me, as well! I've had pizza's all over the country & NUNZIO'S is THE BEST!! I wish I could get Louie to send me one, down here in Texas! I MISS them!! And, I've seen Dave Portnoy on FOX & FRIENDS & Fox news, for giving $$$ to SOOO MANY small restaurants to help keep them afloat during this Pandemic!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...Y'ALL!!

I grew up on this pizza! Snookie still looks the same as when I’d go pick up pizza for mom and dad 40 years ago! Except she had really long hair! Still our favorite pizza place when we go home to Oceanport! I’m so glad to see this one get the high marks it deserves! 👍
Damn...this is why I watch this show. It's not just about the pizza but the town's themselves. Town looks incredibly friendly. Man, 75 and she still has that spunk!

This joint, along with many other places near New York are pure America. They describe what we are. There are three Michelin star restaurants in the city. They are lovely and I have been to one. However, if I had a friend visiting from another country and wanted to let them know what we are all about, this is the kind of place I would take them to have dinner. The pizza is great, but the people running the place are what is important, not the pizza. Thanks Dave for pointing this out, and not just shutting the camera off after judging the pizza. Snooki is the best!

i used to go back in the 70's when i was a kid. there was so many birthday parties, so many wonderful memories. i've since moved away but what i wouldn't give for some of that real NJ pizza. you can't get that anywhere else in the world.

I was born and raised in Long Branch, NJ a couple blocks from this place and I can confirm that Nunzios has some of the best pizza I've ever eaten from my area in NJ. Their Italian food is amazing also. Sadly, they are retiring and sold the business and building. Not sure what the new owners will do. Lots of iconic places where I grew up have shut their doors forever. So sad. Guess that's life.
Nunzio's is great! I wish Vitale's in Old Bridge was still around I don't know what they call it these days but before Vitale's it was Cantore's, best bar pie ever!! My mother would get it for us on Friday nights when I was a kid!! Probably one of the best in Jersey!

That’s not a great bar pie. It’s a spectacular bar pie. Big difference.
He tries to act like he has some sort of system. "My standard score for Neapolitan is 6.7" and so he gives that score to everyone. Now he's trying to make up a score for the bar pie because he sucks at scoring.
A more consistent scale would be expected from someone who has done thousands of reviews imo

i love your reviews man. The first meal iever cooked for the family was mini pizzas using english muffins with a lil corn meal on the crust. 45 years later I stil make pizza for friends and locals that do me a solid or treat me well. Yet I use a real fresh dough or Naan breads for small quick ones. We have a special pepperoni here on the east coast Canada in Halifax , Nova Scotia. Brothers [the best] and Chris Brothers [2nd] pepperoni. Both different but you cant find this kind of pepperoni anywhere else in north america

You could actually tell it’s a great pizza place virtually by looking at it. Of course looks can be deceiving, but a lot of the classic places have that same look. Lots of tables lined up one against the other, no frills but neither cheep-looking, sort of *coffee shop look* (just enough of a restaurant to be called a restaurant, but no more) with a big busy kitchen, and pervasive Italian vibe. That look/ambience just says “We Mean Pizza, and we mean it!” You know it’s gonna be the real thing.
