  • I went to roll down the window on my BMW Z3 and CRACK! I heard what sounded like a window cracking. Oddly, the window would roll back up but only go down a few inches before CRACK, and it would stop. Prepared for the worse I removed the door panel with no idea how to do so. At first, I could see nothing wrong. Then I rolled down the window and watched, CRACK again! Thats when I saw that the pin that holds the window to the slide was popping out of the runner bushing. Thinking I needed to buy parts I thought I would Rig the window until the part would arrive. Upon closer inspection, I noticed a groove in the pin which usually means it retains a pin somehow. I searched the bottom of the door and Walla; I found a retaining pin. Thinking I had this licked, I put the pin back and attempted to roll the window down. CRACK! Dang it! What in tarnation is happening. Once again figuring I need a new part, I stared at the slider bushing to find a way for a temporary fix. You will have to watch the video to see what I came up with, if anything. I'm gonna be tackling this tomorrow and the door latch actuator after watching your awesome video brother. The rooster in the background sounded awesome, confirming that you had gotten her done!!!

It wasn't the mounts? Because I watched another video and the guy said it's common for this mount or bolt thing breaks and it needs re welding. And also what exactly did you fix? I couldn't tell. Was it just the white clip?

Yup, the white clip was the culprit. The right thing to do would have been to replace it, but all I did was flip it over and it has been working ever since. I never did buy a new one. No welding required.

I am sorry, but I do not remember. I will guess it slides in from the open end of the rail. I do know it wasn't real difficult to get to.
