    No lie my key lock broke on my Z3 on Friday. The key just spins in the cylinder lol. I have a few projects that require me to remove the door panels so this gives me some tips so hopefully I don't break anything. Thanks for the helpful video!

    When installing, i found it easier to remove the black weather stripping from the door and place it on the door card. However you will have to make sure it aligns were the quarter window nothes are for reference.

    Just completed this job this afternoon after rebuilding the lock cylinder. Which I had found this video earlier! Very well done. I simply could not reinsert the upper lip of the inner panel until I discovered that the upper rear rubber cover can be peeled back, allowing the upper edge of the inner door panel to slide forward under the window seal strip! (Replacing the tumblers in the driver side lock cylinder was a worse nightmare!!

      P.S. I forgot to mention, you’ll need to lower the window completely and trip the door latch closed in order to push the door lock button down and out of the way before sliding the panel under the window seal strip.

    I've made the mistake on several occasions (over the years) by closing the door with the seat belt in a position where it's between the rear of the door panel and rubber seal. The result was a damaged area (about the size of a silver dollar) where the door panel material started to flake off. I resealed the area and color matched it the best I could, it's not noticeable with the door closed but I know it's there. I just wanted to mention this so none of the viewers on this channel makes the same mistake as I did, especially since these panels are getting tougher to find.
    Informative video Mark, keep them coming...

    Again, as expected, another helpful and well done Video.
    I had to remove the door boards several times, I recommend to buy some new clips before starting to work. Those clips tend to get dry and break. The repositioning of the upper sill is a hell of a fiddly work.

    Would love to be working on my Z3, but it has been too damned hot to do much of anything outside, between 100 and 110 for weeks. This changing climate is taking its toll, as we have never experienced such stretches of unbearably hot weather. Unlike you, fortunately for us, we do not have any humidity. Of course I can't do anything for the poor Z, unless I installed a roll-up garage door in my living room and kept the car in the air conditioned house. Nope, not going there! My wife is not supportive of this idea. Gosh, may have to just build a new garage having AC! Nope, not going there! Wife again -----🙃

      The E-brake works when I pull it up. Just the push button is stuck inside the handle. So I can’t use it when parked.

    • @CoolcatsAlley
      @CoolcatsAlley 2 месяца назад +2

      I replaced my OEM handle with an aftermarket one. I believe when I had to pull it off it had some glue on the inside but you just pull off the whole handle. I don't remember there being any fasteners. Just some glue that it needs to get broken loose but it's so old and brittle that shouldn't take much effort to just muscle it off.
