Left out of the story is how he went from an owner of a small chain of fitness clubs to churning out the most unhealthy food possible. He owned a chain called "In and Out Fitness", promoting how people can live healthier in a fast paced world. He was sued by In-N-Out Burger for copyright. They almost bankrupted him and his family. So he decided to join the fast food club that tried to ruin him yet still exposes how unhealthy it is by pulling back the curtain on what it takes to make this kind of food. at the same time, he was also finishing up his degree and started talking to people about their cheat-day meals that's the part that made me go from "this guy's a truth-teller" to "this guy's throwing a delicious hissy-fit." like, there's a way to get your satirical point out without operating a restaurant that aims to kill people as part of the satire. he's coming from the same cynical-ass worldview as Morgan Spurlock - the both of them don't realize their satirizing the world they're creating. Morgan's fascination with super-sizing and the nutritional value of fast food led to a bunch of restaurants swapping out "fried" for "crispy" - and Morgan still chewed them out over that. Jon Basso's obsession with death, overkill-style menu items (milkshakes that are more like super-creamy ice cream than milkshakes due to their immense butterfat content), and oversized portions has led to restaurants adopting the same to draw in more customers. you can make a point about the revolution being coopted into capitalism, but it'd be like if Howard Beale decided to create the conditions needed for him to break down into that first jeremiad in the first place.

He's being honest about it while the kingpins of the industry are making it look fabulous and fun. I have nothing but respect for this guy.

that's the part that made me go from "this guy's a truth-teller" to "this guy's throwing a delicious hissy-fit." like, there's a way to get your satirical point out without operating a restaurant that aims to kill people as part of the satire. he's coming from the same cynical-ass worldview as Morgan Spurlock - the both of them don't realize their satirizing the world they're creating.

1.You die fat and ignorant for your own pleasure of eating this shit
2.You reflect on how this shit is bad and should think of your health

This issue is a message won’t do anything many of these obese people who eat free or very close to that 350 lb weight is an addiction . The addiction usually derives from a broken mental state wether it be depression , lack of self esteem , feeling of the point of no return and the glutonous eating brings them a sense of happiness this is what the owner and people need to understand. Is the owner being honest ? Yes I respect him for that but he’s very naive in thinking that he’s sending a message for people to get and expect them to change their lives/eating habits
What he should be doing is if people over 350 want to eat for free they should be registered to self help programs with record showing them going on a weekly basis . Least there will be some incentive for them to seek help as twisted as it may sound
@@noahevanm having people literally die in your restaurant then publicly saying you don’t care that people are losing there lives in your restaurant is not a wake up call its just telling us that the creator of this restaurant has something going on mentally.
Its hard for "healthy at all sizes" folks to argue against a restaurant like this where nearly every patron is obese and where 3 heart attacks and one death have occured. Any other fast food joint would hide any heart attacks on the premises. This guy is just straight up about it.

I actually really really love how he is blatantly honest about this issue
I've nothing against him, customers are the ones to be blamed.
The line between good and evil lies at the heart of every man. And he lies at the end.
Agreed. These customers are adults who have brains to make their own decisions...
It makes me not wanna go eat there because you say that the customers are to blame. People go there to have a good time, they know what they're getting into most of the time. You can't blame customers because of that. Honestly I think nobody is to blame and it's just how things work in the restaurant.

If someone die of shooting themself with a gun
Who is responsible: the shooter or the gun dealer?
Exactly, I don't get why people would blame the owner for this, he's being blatantly honest.
Access matters. Decreasing the access of things lowers the use of it. Ecstasy was my favorite drug in the world. I would easily never drink alcohol again if I could have access to that drug. I don't know where to get it, so I can't use it.
There is culpability in supplying people with things that are dangerous. The almighty dollar is not the end-all be-all. What you put into this world matters.
The shooter. After you buy it it's your responsibility just like your health. What you do with it is all on you

He just thinks “could you stop telling America the truth, stop making them think about the food they eat”
I don’t know why there is people who think this guy is bad. He’s literally straight up telling everyone if you eat his food you are going to eventually have a heart attack or other health complications. People chose to eat there, and it’s not like he’s forcing them to.
And what’s his reasoning for hiring a dwarf to drive a beer cart then? This guy is a sociopath with a clever gimmick, who’s just masquerading as a do-gooder. He knows his so called message is not educating anyone. Why do you think he’s expanded the company locations? Why offer “eat for free for anyone over 350lbs”? He only cares about money.
@Metal Sign what do I want? I want people to wake up that they’re being suckered by a con man and possible sociopath.
Despite all his bs, the bottom line is his business income is based on making people more sick. No matter what phony reverse psychology he tries to spin, that is what drives sales and allows him to open more locations. The fact that he tries to label it as “the heart attack grill” is just a clever marketing gimmick to draw attention and misdirect public perception. He’s implying it has a double meaning to save himself from public scrutiny. Rewarding people to eat free for weighing over 350 lbs does absolutely nothing but encourage people with serious health issues to continue their descent. If he was actually doing the job he was claiming to do, he would be out of business. AS HE SAID IN HIS OWN WORDS: “I’m a businessman first”. And as I already mentioned, who hires a dwarf to drive a beer cart like that? This man has no values or morals. He rewarded and encouraged his spokesmen to eat until they died, then carried around their ashes as if he’s peddling some sort of warning. That’s like shooting someone to warn them about guns.
"This meth dealer isn't forcing anyone to buy meth! People chose to get addicted to meth, he had nothing to do with it!"
@@thelad5, To be honest, no drug dealer are forcing people to buy illegal drugs. Grown adults can make their own life choices, and sometimes they choose the wrong choices that have major consequences.

Exactly! Why shut him down when he’s selling something perfectly legal. There’s capitalism, the customer runs the business. Not him
@White Boy But they're not doing that. Overindulgence is not the same as outright suicide.
@White Boy LOL if you handing them loaded gun, thats a Crime ... But is it a crime to sell a Burger? Absolutly not.

Or the system? ... And then you realize the truth behind his word.
@White Boy You miss the point ... I dont care what you think about it ... All i Care is, is it breaking any law to sell a burger?
As long as it's not contain any illegal substance, its not breaking law to sell a burger! Even if you said in your advertisement "Eat my burger untill you die!", as long as there's no illegal substance its good to go.

@@plugshirt1684 I mean I kinda think it’s the same level of fucked up on both accounts. To me this is like the dilemma of if a serial killer admits he killed people, does that make it morally better than a killer who didn’t admit it?
@@deadspiderjmortal2604 OK buddy I don't think that's an apt comparison. For that to work it would mean that all the people said killer murdered were completely willing.
