The mutual respect between guards and prisoners makes this more humane than most prisions in the world.
The prisonsers fake the respect just to get what they want.

I'm glad to see how Peru at least understands and makes efforts to help the prisoners not to be depressed in a very depressing situation
only for the women..
right, making it not depressing, is huge detriment for others to commit crimes. You do realize that those in jail are there for a reason.
@@thatperson2508 its true they put themselves there, if it was your brother or even you do you want them to have a chance to improve their thinking before they get out or just let them out all screwed up even more than when they went in.

Always amazes me when a society locks away it’s citizens instead of repurposing them for different work. Prison is not just a waste of time, it’s a waste of money, energy, materials, and life.
So, punishment is not the correct way to deal with drug smugglers? I guess your kids won't be a victim, huh? No punishment= repeat forever.
@@saintpreferred9223 The anti-drug trafficking is all funded by the US, but even if the US managed to stop all the drugs coming into the country, do you really think that would stop, or even reduce the drug problem in the US? People would just change to drugs that were available like alcohol, or fentanyl .It is not the drugs, or supply of drugs that is the problem, it is that people are broken and in pain inside, and that's why people turn to drugs, but what they actually need is healing. Alcohol is freely and cheaply available in most countries, but most folk do not become alcoholics. I think if the US spent their money on healing the people with drug problems instead of spending it on stopping the supply of drugs, the drug problem would be a lot less than it is

Crazy how things have changed. I worked in Peru for 6 months in 1980. I was a pretty scruffy 23 year old and came back loaded with native crafts (including a big spear that I took on the plane with me)and wasn't even checked at the airport
I travelled there ten years later. Got searched at the airport , literally on he tarmac before I climbed the stairs, and searched again when I hit LX.
Not strip searched but patted down very closely and had to unpack my belongings onto a long table in closed room with me and three security staff
They should have a live feed of the prison yard playing constantly in the airport.
Edit: Gotta love that after being arrested, no one can remember why they did it.

When my wife and I went to China because her uncle had passed away (only time my wife ever went to China, her parents were tortured and prevented from marrying due to their faith but my wife’s aunt and uncle had risked big time to help them flee the country), in the airport there was videos of the prisons and warnings about breaking the law. The message was clear: don’t make trouble, you don’t want to go to prison here.
I once went to Peru,I tried to smuggle it out. I missed my flight,I waited a 7days for my next flight,in that time I ended up flushing it and went back home empty handed.

I spend a lot of time in Peru. When security asks you "have you been watching your bags?" you always say no. People will slip stuff into your bag and take note of where it's being delivered. If you're going to Boston and they have a connection there they'll slip drugs into your bag and hope that it gets delivered to Logan. If you get caught and say you've been watching your bags you're all done.
OMG! That's true!! I am Peruvian and there are several reports of how the drug mafia does this at airports! Be very careful!! In Peru there are many "drug lords" but neither the population nor television talk about it, it is prohibited and frowned upon, in fact they are only known about when they are captured as "Caracol" one of the biggest drug lords in America Latin.
Yes and I was pretty anxious leaving from Lima airport - even though I was carrying nothing!
@@Paul-dv4dr I always breathing sigh relief when I'm getting out of Lima. I caught a guy I in my bags in Trujillo. They asked me if I'd been watching them the whole time and I said nope haven't been looking at them. Sometimes the airport security are in on it.
Had an older woman try and do exactly that as I got out of a Cab at Denpasar airport and made the mistake of placing one of my bags on the kerb. I think It’s more about addiction. Food destroys lives and leads to early deaths if you eat too much. Drugs in moderation aren’t really harmful.
