Diet Dissect: How Much Does A Demon Slayer Get Paid?
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 окт 2024
- The Demon Slaying Corp is a massive unground network of swordsmen who put their lives on the line to protect the common people from demons. Yet these warriors still need to make a living so that if they can retire they'll be able to live comfortably. So using data we received from official sources and the known history of the company, can we determine the amount a Demon Slayer would make by the rank?

To be fair, that high pay rate makes sense when you consider they're putting their lives on the line fighting creatures that could kill them with a flick of their wrist. Most demon slayers don't even survive a year
Essentially life insurance rolled into pay at the same time.
True...
Akihiko Sakurai except for doom guy and he doesnt even get paid for fighting satan.
and he is basically hiring barely educated children so I imagine he can skim some of the top during pay day before he tosses them back into the meat grinder.
Some even die before starting their carrier
I'd imagine that Master Kagaya keeps his Slayers paid well enough to live comfortable lives off of the battlefield. Enough so that Rengokus family can be reasonably well off from the look of it.
the rengoku family appears to have been nobility for a long time tbf
Rengokus family has produced multiple Hashiras - there is always a Water and Flame Hashira historically and the Rengoku family specialises in Flame Breathing. A Hashira can literally ask for any pay scale he wants. The mansions can simply be a retirement wish of a previous Flame Hashira or a bonus they asked for upon gaining the title.
@@deep_and_profound_topicsIt seems they have been around since yoriichis time
With how much demon slayers get paid it just makes me imagine a demon Slayer who's Just in it for the money because they're greedy sounds kind of funny to me.

Making >100k just from supporting jobs? Ideal
We did actually see one, he's not getting paid anymore.
It is, but realistically they’re dying in the exam at best. There’s other jobs they can apply for if they can partake in the exam lol
@@mindingmybusiness180 that's one of the things that makes it so funny to me that out of all the jobs this guy could have taken he chose literally one of the most risky jobs in the world just for money.

This video does make me wonder, if master Kagaya and his family are that ridiculously wealthy wouldn't there likely be more political influence along with that family? Maybe it shows up in ways I didn't notice but if so why does the Demon Slayer Corp not get recognition or support from the government? Or at the very least why wouldn't they bribe the police to turn a blind eye to all the slayer activities?
The police has guns.
The government knows about the slayers and cover up what's happening to maintain public order
@Brujobr1 Not sure how guns would help against demons. Yes I know Genga uses guns that have bullets made out same stuff their swords are made. The ore isn't best to mass produce bullets because the ore is limited.
Because the current state of affairs benefits everyone. Muzan doesn’t want to conquer the world and as such leaves a majority of people alone. Get the government involved and now things change. Muzan can’t live in peace and won’t hesitate to lash out publicly and violently.
@@Mapple-qp6yg if muzan made proper use of his demons and started maybe mass produceing them he could have most of japan destroyed in a year with very little resources lost.
Then again, maybe the expense isnt that much, 'cause outside of the main trio, demonslayers seem to die off in droves
it really makes sense. all these soldiers are dying left and right. and the ''boss'' is like a very good, moral guy so he doesn't even try to exploit their work. so ye. good stuff, nice video!
Bro this is not a war between two parties with differing interests, it's one guy personally funding the only prevention to the end of the world against monsters
@@twgok3162 bruh.. i was speaking metaphorically. drawing a parallel to an irl ''general'' lol
After the end of Muzan, the Family moves over to managing the Breathing style temples where they host yearly dance performances of the breathing techniques. And Zenitsu’s books were pretty popular, meaning that the Temples, once the Estates of the Hashira, are likely quite popular. They’re still making bank, which they will use to pay new slayers should the need arise again.
i mean, if you are against literal demi-gods (in some cases) with nothing more than a katana and breathing exercises, its not really a shock to get paid like you are travis touchdown.
Shoulda used guns 😏
@@hominhmai5325 One guy actually does. He needs specialized bullets to actually do anything to Demons because Demon Regen completely neutralizes conventional weaponry.
Guns in the 1900s weren’t nearly as fast, powerful and accurate as modern armament and Demons are super durable(Like enough force to *bust a big hole* in a Concrete Wall minimum) and fight atleast at Nigh-Supersonic Speeds.
Even with Modern Specialized Anti-Demon Guns, people are gonna need some high-caliber shit to deal with the Lower Moons. And then there are the Upper Moons. And then you might as well bring a bombing run with Specialized Nichirin Shells for Muzan because like *Nope* - Fuck that.
...
Yes the katanas are only effective because Demon Slayers are ridiculously strong and fast, Not-A-Slayer-Yet Tanjiro could slice large boulders in two with a single cleave, A gun ain’t doing that.

Oh my god….is that why the final selection is soo brutal?! To kill off anyone who’d be a waste of money so they can pay a few demon slayers more
Other than that, they have to make sure the people they are paying can actually kill demons
I think most slayers don't get payed because they die on the first mission or they become an aoi and are under the butterfly payroll or quit entirely
That’s a pretty shitty job then.
all of them get paid
I like stuff like these to understand better
Im trying to write a comic with multiple government founded organizations of “super humans”, and participate warfare, organized, assassinations, crime and stuff
Pro tip: Do literally the opposite of everything My Hero Academia did, look at One Piece for history in worldbuilding and Hunter x Hunter for government. Ignore Naruto entirely.
@@enumaelish9193 where did mha go wrong?
@@tudoraragornofgreyscot8482 MHA's worldbuilding has the depth of a puddle. Humanity has evolved in multiple different ways from Black Hole people to people that can create tornadoes. How has society changed? There's a job called hero, criminals are now called villains. That's it. The government is supposedly some sort of all controling shadow organization. What influence have they had on the story? There's discrimination against mutants but Tokoyami and Asui are cool but Spinner isn't. All For One has somehow existed in his prime for decades before All Might but had so little influence on the world the new generation barely remember who he is, before you say he was moving in the shadows the effect of an all encompassing decades long criminal empire should persist for years to come.
Also why is MHA society's defense against threats so great the US had to send in intercontinental ballistic missiles first year high schoolers and three third year students?
One thing I would like to point out: while your research is very thorough, the methods assume a linear progression between ranks, which we don’t really know are true-for all we know, pay could increase exponentially with rank or even start plateau after a certain point (again excluding hashira)

Update us on how it goes!
@@tudoraragornofgreyscot8482 let me tell you! During the prototype test run I ran I little while ago, the HUMANS killed more humans than the demons! The demon players? A cohesive unit that was getting missions done. The humans? Scheming to constantly kill each other!
As for this one, I’ll keep y’all posted.
as for the swordsmiths, they may take a combined pay structure where they are both paid on a salary as well as paid for every sword they make. the first part being a means of reimbursing them for the methods taken for their safety, and the other being their actual pay for their vital work.
I don't know how much the Demon Slayer Corps makes. But it needs to be top doller, with paid benefits and expenses.

Hopefully really good because they’re job is VERY dangerous
That Outis pic from the end caught me off guard fr fr
If i did my math right, big macs in japan should be about 450 yen right now, which is $3.22 USD. Tanjiro post Mugen Train makes $226,235 a year. 226,235÷3.22=70,259 big macs, or if he eats 3 a day, he can sustain himself on just big macs for 64 days.
Edit: Looks like i got somethings wrong.
As of current (October 31st 2023), currently big macs in Japan do equal about 450 yen still, but I must've gotten something wrong already, because the conversion rate, at least right now, actually leads to 450 yen being $2.97. Assuming he has two a day (we're getting to it not being 3 a day shortly), that's $5.94, if he had two everyday it would be $2,168.10. $226,235-$2,168.10=$224,066.10, meaning he can have 2 big macs everyday for a year. However, one problem- our boy needs breakfast, and big macs, even in japan, aren't sold during breakfast. This is a problem, so our boy must choose from the breakfast menu. For sake of convenience, we will go with the hotcakes, which are 340 yen. In usd, this is $2.25, and having an order of hotcakes every year is equal to $821.25. 821.25+2,168.10=$2989.35 in total. $226,235-$2,989.35=$223,245.65.
Tanjiro can more than afford to buy two big macs (and breakfast) for himself everyday.
I have corrected my misinformation spread on the internet.

Tanjiro's gonna need the hinokami kagura: Burning calories tehnique.

Traveling, boarding, and food expenses are covered on Missions so it isnt out of pocket while on mission
I think I got the calcs wrong on amount of big macs eaten per year
Yeah id guess that the majority of hashira ask for less than the highest amount since so many of them probably give a rats ass about the pay. Like gyomei and the wind hashira probably just.ask pay for the stuff i need to kill demons and thats it
But then you have Rengoku and Tengen who probably break Kaguya's wallet every paycheck.
@@thegreatmonacage3782 they probably ask for a straight million and not a yen more, honestly that's still a worth investment.

I think the swordsmith villagers are paid. After Tanjiro survives Final selection they are told to choose an ore that will be create their swords. That means the demon slayers company
Been seeing a lot of Yakuza clips and some music (I think) In this video, and then I thought to myself, "How much yen would Majima need to host a birthday party for the entire Majima Family"
So that clan had to have the money of modern day billionaires? Doesn't seem so impossible for honestly.
Yeah, the number seems absurd for us normal people, but there are people who have more money than Smaug nowadays. It's totally feasible to pay that amount when you're a billionaire who sole wish in life is to kill muzan.
I've loved all of your Demon Slayer videos. I hope we get a Kokushibo video soon!
Demon Slayers get paid?
I thought it was just a civil sense of duty/revenge thing and they got their money by other means

Well, they don't join for monetary reasons, but they're always fighting demons, resting or training, so there's no time to work other jobs for money.

I think we'd also need to know how much a yen was worth back then to really understand it
EDIT: should have waited. Even so, conversion to grain actually would have likely been more useful given the dollar back then was a lot more than now. Which does make the inflation calculation a bit odd
Small spoiler:
Remember, Ubuyashiki and his family use their foresight skills to make their money. That’s how the family made their money, and considering the fact that the Corps has existed for over 1000 years, I’m sure the government is at least aware of the Corps’ existence, if not actively funding them from the shadows. The only reason I can see why they would not make the existence of the Corps public, is because…well…you don’t want to tell your people man-eating monsters exist, do you?
You can imagine the mass panic it would cause or God forbid the outliners of society just lining up at Muzan's doorstep begging to be a part of his army or undermine humanity inorder to get a part of the demon pie?
@@cecejamesable yeah... I honestly think that Mulan would have been much more successful if he was a similar figure as Douma. I mean, just think of Dororo and their demons.
Even if he couldn't make rain appear, he could just promise immortality to those who achive what he wants and create a cult of sorts, specially given that there have been plenty of human rituals and sacrifices throughout history...
But that would have become a Dororo rip off, and nobody wants that. Guess Muzan's going to keep being dumb 😅😅😅
@@Phyonna What happens is that he is a coward and he is scared that they might find him to kill him but I don't think it was much because his moons can recruit
If muzan's family was able to afford his hospital bills for such a long time their family is probably wealthy before muzan became a demon

To be super cynical, let's assume the clan keeps the excess money in the clan as a bank, then factor in how alot of slayers appear to have no family due to demons killing them. Basically no next of kin, I would assume unless specified in the event of a demon slayers death the money acquired would go back to the clan.
Love the currency videos! :)
the use of the Limbus OST was a chad decision
Limbus company music spotted, clicking like button
Demon slaying is the computer science of the taisho period
Well, according to the Holy Hydration Standard, 2000 Red Orbs becomes One Dollar (USD). Dante and the other Spardasons tend to end up with a surplus bordering on 100,000 by the end of most games (ignoring replays and people who stop to grind), so presuming that each game counts as one job... $50.
No wonder these guys are always broke.
I gotta become a demon slayer fr they making bank
The next question is... how the hell do the clan earn?
They are most likely aristocrats and influential landowners, going by indicated time periods and the look of the Ubuyashiki estate. So most likely they controlled a huge chunk of agricultural land, which translates to significant economic and political power
It goes into spoiler territory but there is a very good reason why they have that kind of money.
T-the "e" at the end isn't silent...
So it seems that Ubuyashiki is selling the lungs of the deceased demon slayers since they are pretty healthy cause they need them for breathing styles
Do “how Tokugawa funds the Maximum Tournament”

*looking at the modern day pay rates*: TIME TO BECOME A SLAYERRRRRR
And boom, death during training.
Idk about Japanese inflation but $8800 in 1926 is about $150000 buying value today.
Can you please do a video on Kokushibo, they're aren't that much explanation videos on him 😓🙏
i like this video
This makes it sound like Ubuyashiki has an impossible amount of money like trillions, but if you do the math, say he spends like 10 million of today's cash a year on everything, and considering the family has been doing this for over 1000 years, which means he had, minimum, tens of billions of dollars back when the family started funding demon hunting. That is still a crazy amount but there are billionaires today who are technically even richer
That is all to say, maybe some people irl really have too much money, and most aren't even doing a fraction of what Ubuyashiki did in the story yet they could
Well seeing how alot of slayers die within a year or 2, they could tank the pay roll as most don't make it to rank 4 or 5 within their lives. Also the clan could have stupid amounts of land wealth and invested in the right companies (the 1920's was a boom era sans WW1 losers, USSR and China) you don't have to worry about money as it is basically self producing.
Also they would make insanely good investments given their foresight gifts
Was just asking in my head if they could buy a Big Mac and my not bad guy delivers the joke on queue XD

if it works like every other military pay structure, they probably have a starting bonus but don't collect the big bucks until they've completed a mission or survived long enough. I doubt Aoi and other support staff get paid handsomely unless they volunteer for dangerous field work. Considering that demon slayers are essentially an unsanctioned elite private army, I can see why they get a decent pay. They assume all the risks and likely won't live long enough to enjoy their money.
Taking account the risks, payment is pretty fair.
