There is something to be said for Shinobu’s anger and desire for revenge. Imagine being so mad, you would delay your own happiness with the people you love most, to stay in purgatory and personally escort your enemy to hell.
Honestly, I really like Shinobu. I hate when people just completely water down her character to butterfly girl who likes to tease people. Like she's honestly a pretty tragic character too, she endured the loss of her sister along with her parents. She knew she wasn't as strong but she tried so hard in the end and it paid off even though well manga readers know. I love when in the manga she would show her true personality, she was rude sometimes but she was an extremely kind person. We can see that when she has a serious talk with kanao about the fight with douma. Kanae recognizes her kindness when shinobu talks about kanaes eyes. Sorry I'm kind of rambling but honestly I could go on and on about how much I love her character 🤷🏽♀️
They did Shinobu dirty. Shinobu was very smart and I'm sure she would've created some sort of drug to help amp her prowess when fighting stronger demons.

I would like to add the fact Shinobu was one of the few Pillars didn't activeted nor discovered the Mark to defeat a High Upper Moon demon. She's propably one of the best written female characters in shonen along with Tamayo. New gen shonen has really stepped up their game with writing female characters, now female characters can be more than just fan service and love interests and I love it.
Shinobu is the weakest, but also somewhat the most “powerful” character in KNY. Her death was not going to stop her from helping the others bring down Muzan.
I always thought her personality change was because, Kanae always told her you should smile more, that's why there's a scene in the manga that shows her calming herself down during the training arc. I never knew she changed because she took on Kanae's personality instead. He couldn't hit that weird demon ascension thing but still, the fact that Shinobu, Kanae and Inosuke killed him might be the most against-all-odds victory in all of demon slayer. She deserved her mark more than anyone in this series, if she gotten her mark maybe her final attack would have enough pressure to decapitate Doma, and she maybe would have been in the final fight. She deserved so much better
Damn she was a great character. A friend of mine made me appreciate Shinobu and having learned about her history and death through this video makes me want to make a figure for her!
Regardless of what people say, I want to say this about her sacrifice. I think there would greater symbolism, literally and in terms of life lessons, if Shinobu had lived. Gotouge made her story role a little too poetic, which takes and gives certain things. Her living to the end of the story would show how events don't always go as planned or expected. Shinobu spent a whole year preparing for something that was never guaranteed to happen (meeting her nemesis) within the timeframe of her life as a slayer (from a realistic view, its very possible that Shinobu could’ve aged or been injured too much to the point she needed to retire before fighting her chosen foe). What actually did happen in the manga was more due to poeticism in the plot than anything (its fiction though, so it’s usually this way, to my exasperation at times). So then what happens when the plan fails and your forced to accept that by continuing onward? Like, if a theme of Kimetsu no Yaiba is passing on will, why not have Shinobu be forced to do that but in a way where she will be alive to see the end result, fail or not? This would force her to have faith in a battle that she cannot play a any part in (alive or dead I digress) and it means she can only hope it will go the way she wants, which is her nemesis dead and her alive to see the dawn. I think Shinobu is the best Hashira to embody this. Furthermore, it would also teach us more about coming to terms with our losses, mainly by looking at what we have/still have/could have than what we've lost. At the end of the story, Shinobu’s deepest drive in life is no longer necessary/feasible. So how does one cope with that? By focusing on the future not the past, but also the present. Which would be all the Butterfly Mansion inhabitants who still loved and needed her, not just Kanao and Inosuke. And the people/person who she could have later. Out of all the Hashira where we could see these lessons "shown" and not "told" to the best degree possible, Shinobu is the best one to do it. Granted, we do have Sanemi and Giyu, but they never had the same level of support/external binding ties to other people that Shinobu did. I feel it would be more powerful for her to live on and show what reality, rather than fiction, normally presents us with: living despite your losses, finding new bonds, strengthening already existing ones, and coming to terms with a new purpose in life when the defining one for years on end is no longer needed (again, because parts of her character and lore make it more powerful coming from her).
Shinobu is my ultimate favorite anime character cause i love how she could still make it up to having the strength to be a pillet despite her being smaller and weaker than avarage. I really admire how she could just bottle up all those emotions while being a Hashira. To me, she is the strongest character in terms of resilience. We stan a butterfly

SHE IS NOT WEAK. I feel like she's just useless if a demon is a Strong opponent, like Douma. But In the Manga it is Explained that her Piercing Strength is stronger than any Demon Slayer. But of course we don't need piercing attack when killing a demon. But for a an average human this technique could actually give you instant death. Her Intelligence and Speed is Top in the Demon Slayer Corp. It's just unfortunate that their enemy is demons that could only be killed by Sun and Nichirin Blade. If Demon's Heart is also one of their weakness, She can pierce them instantly.

Shinobu Injects poison with her blade. She is not poisonous but venomous. However the time when Douma absorbs Shinobu later then taking effect that he is poison. Douma consumed Shinobu now indecates that Shinobu is Poisonous not Venomous. Venom injects while Poison in injest different yet similar.
I love insects, so to see insects being used as a theme for a power, especially for a female, I couldn't help but love her by default! Normally gender doesn't matter for such things to me, but making the insect pillar female subverts expectations and norms. It's usually stereotyped that boys like icky-yucky-creepy-crawlies while girls are scared of them. Needless to say I've gotten bullied for it by other kids and bothered by adults for it lol. It's just a super cool thing to see!
Shinobu earned her hashira status herself. She may not be powerful enough to take an upper rank on her own, none of the Hashiras could, but she is powerful enough to take on lower moons. To become a hashira you only need to defeat one moon, upper or lower. This is why Tanjiro was shown to not be able to defeat Rui, lower five, as that would put him on hashira level. Which would throw the story off. Which would also be why Muzan was so angry at the lower moons as they were dying so quickly. Which suggest that the lower moons were killed more frequently then we thought. The fight with Rui showed that once a possible location of a moon was found a hashira would be dispatched right away. So it would make sense that all of the hashiras likely has killed a lower moon, including the Mist Hashira who is younger than Tanjiro and co.
Am I the only one that has a problem with her sword? She needs a thrust centric weapon and yet it´s about the worst possible design for that very purpose. 1) The tip is too broad and the fact that it necks down makes it very likely to get stuck 2) The blade is likely poorly balanced for thrusting 3) The blade might not be stiff enough for thrusting. 4) the guard doesn´t allow to change the hand position to relieve the wrist 5) the two-handed grip makes no sense and isn´t angled to relieve her wrist. Don´t get me wrong, I prefer cut oriented weapons, but for her, a smallsword would be so much better. PS: a rapier would be most definitely too heavy for her as well!

Honestly, she is. I always thought she would be a great character and, after seeing her such beautiful conclusion, I think she is the best written character in the entire serie even better than Akaza, Kokushibo or Yoriichi.

Shinobu Injects poison with her blade. She is not poisonous but venomous. However the time when Douma absorbs Shinobu later then taking effect that he is poison. Douma consumed Shinobu now indecates that Shinobu is Poisonous not Venomous. Venom injects while Poison in injest different yet similar.

I love insects, so to see insects being used as a theme for a power, especially for a female, I couldn't help but love her by default!
Normally gender doesn't matter for such things to me, but making the insect pillar female subverts expectations and norms. It's usually stereotyped that boys like icky-yucky-creepy-crawlies while girls are scared of them. Needless to say I've gotten bullied for it by other kids and bothered by adults for it lol. It's just a super cool thing to see!

Shinobu earned her hashira status herself. She may not be powerful enough to take an upper rank on her own, none of the Hashiras could, but she is powerful enough to take on lower moons. To become a hashira you only need to defeat one moon, upper or lower.
This is why Tanjiro was shown to not be able to defeat Rui, lower five, as that would put him on hashira level. Which would throw the story off. Which would also be why Muzan was so angry at the lower moons as they were dying so quickly. Which suggest that the lower moons were killed more frequently then we thought.
The fight with Rui showed that once a possible location of a moon was found a hashira would be dispatched right away. So it would make sense that all of the hashiras likely has killed a lower moon, including the Mist Hashira who is younger than Tanjiro and co.
Am I the only one that has a problem with her sword?
She needs a thrust centric weapon and yet it´s about the worst possible design for that very purpose.
1) The tip is too broad and the fact that it necks down makes it very likely to get stuck
2) The blade is likely poorly balanced for thrusting
3) The blade might not be stiff enough for thrusting.
4) the guard doesn´t allow to change the hand position to relieve the wrist
5) the two-handed grip makes no sense and isn´t angled to relieve her wrist.
Don´t get me wrong, I prefer cut oriented weapons, but for her, a smallsword would be so much better.
PS: a rapier would be most definitely too heavy for her as well!

Honestly I’m surprised why no one mentions that while Shinobu wasn’t present in the final battle, it’s the poison that she and Tamayo created together that weakens Muzan.
