    5:51 actually there’s one more gripe with Scapes (at least among photographers), which is that many Scapes don’t bother modeling light sources.
    Let’s say your IRL car is parked under a street lamp at night. If you move your car around the street light, you expect the shadows to move around like a sun-dial. This is not the case in many Scapes, and contributes to the cars looking photoshopped. Cars don’t get brighter/darker in direct light vs shadow, and the shadows casted by the car don’t move.
    The best way to test this is to simply move and rotate your car around in the scape, and check to see if the shadows make sense. Otherwise, the only way to consistently get realistic photos is to take pictures in a Replay, which does have full light modeling.

    when it comes to "race modification", somehow i like the Shift 2 implementation aka the "Works" the best because not only they offer weight reduction and "race bodykit", they also increase additional performance to the vehicle but at the cost of it being restricted to the namesake series and also that you can't reverse the performance tuning, oh wait, there are also another downsides in which you have to really upgrade the car to unlock the feature and not to mention some certain DLC cars can't get the job.

    A course maker for GT7 would be cool but considering how much detail polyphony like to put into things, I don't think it'd be possible any time soon, it's probably take a very long time to make.
    Also, B spec is something I've wanted in GT7 in a while. I quite like racing management games with a wider emphasis on strategy, so seeing it back in GT would be great

    GT6's track editor ended up showing how the GT5 jump tracks happened. When you place many corner markers very close to each other on a hill, the track elevation freaks out and creates a jump. This was patched in a later version of the app, but at that point the modded versions had been already made so the tracks only got even more insane.
    I still remember encountering a modded track with a huge vertical climb (The Devil's Elbow, for those who know) for the first time in a online race. The room's name was something like "HUGE JUMP 1000M", I thought it was exaggerating but when the massive hill appeared in I lost my mind lol

    I always thought that Sophy might be the gateway to the implementation of B spec somehow. Like it would be a neat addition like not only does the b spec driver level up through experience but also may have it that you could train it by racing against them. Or even better, imagine a multiplayer mode where everyone is in b spec.

  • @alexherman77

    IMO racing mods should still exist and should be in its own category outside GT Auto called something like “Race Shop” or other.
    What I imagine is a place where you can convert your base “road” car into a race car.
    For example you have a base Impreza STI. You can take it to the Race Shop and convert it into a Gr. 4, Gr. 3, or Gr. B car which you can’t otherwise buy from the dealer. Maybe make it so that’s the only place you can get slick tires or something if you want to really differentiate between race cars and road cars.

    • @ShiningJudgment666

  • @RiffleVFXportfolio
    @RiffleVFXportfolio 5 месяцев назад +21

    I also think that maybe if you build your own race car out of a road car, they could actually allow that into race car races using requirements, like your car needs to have wide body and splitters installed and at least stage two weight reduction or something, and then it'll apply BOP to it when you enter the race to make sure that it fits with the rest of the opponents

    • @Tyrranis
      @Tyrranis 5 месяцев назад +3

      You could then re-add Racing Modifications as a sort of pre-built tuning bundle system that adds the required parts for specific events. For example, the Mustang he mentions in the video could have RMs for Group 4, Group 3 and Rally that change the car into the respective race versions.
      It wouldn't include a livery, but then again with the Livery Editor in GT7 that's not a problem, really.

    • @RiffleVFXportfolio
      @RiffleVFXportfolio 5 месяцев назад

      @@Tyrranis I mean I think that kinda falls into the trap of now it's basically just the gr3 and gr4 cars that are in the dealership. If they keep it kinda loose, everyone can make whatever car suits their fancy, or they can just buy the gr3 or gr4 variant if they wish. PD doesn't really need to dedicate resources to prepackaging and livery-ing every car in the game when they could just make basic requirements for the events

    I'm one of those weirdos who play GT's Arcade Modes. No, I don't mean pick a rental car and track and go. In the classic orange era of Gran Turismo, Simulation Mode "simulates" car life like browsing used cars and worrying about mundane things like changing oil. Arcade Mode was an entirely separate mini-campaign where you beat each course on easy/medium/hard and rewards you a new car with each tier of completion. GT Concept also had these mini-campaigns but in a different structure. No grinding involved, just a pack of class C stock Miatas and Altezzas and Civics engaging in bumper to bumper racing on Professional difficulty.

    The course maker should return, with not only the ability to let players unleash their creativity, but also a tool to help you create a circuit (and also show Polyphony how to recreate a classic track *cough* Grand Valley), if you ever have difficulty or you don't know where to start creating your circuit, the game can help you or create a circuit for you, so that you can have a base and make the modifications that you want to do.

    I really hope they do add a Photo Travel mode to GT7 or even 8. I feel like both can co-exist, especially since scapes appeal to beginner photographers in the game (since they're just still pics), while the 3D areas appeal to the more experienced photomode users (just look at the replay photos people have made). That and leaving them as menu books backgrounds is a really weird decision, the game can handle the locations AND multiple cars in them at the same time, even on base ps4s (although some lag happens, not unexpected)

    I personally would like the Racing Modifications has a GT Auto upgrade that installs more Racing gear into the interior like Racing seats, a lightweight steering wheel and if Polyphony feels like daring; remove interior parts to look like their created Gr.4 and Gr.3 cars, but with also a plus of adding a bigger fuel tank around 100L like the race cars that are into the game, making it a viable option to endurance races where fuel consumption is part of the equation.
    That's why in GT7 both race cars and rally cars swaps works so well on races like WTC700 Le Mans or Sardegna, because along with the engine, they also install the swapped car's fuel tank

Being able to set my B-Spec driver to a 24-hour race of Le Mans or Nordschleife and then just come back later was such a great help. I'm struggling to acquire cars in GT7 right now because the most viable method I've found requires 30 minutes of my free time and there's still a chance I lose the clean race bonus or finish outside 1st. I loved the B-spec in GT4. It's great for grinding money.
    You also forgot a feature in GT4, the training before each race. Training is at the same time the qualifying. So you can start on the first position, which itself is perfect for B-spec.

    In GT2, you still get an additional weight reduction from a racing modification if I'm not mistaken, but it's still not worth applying to many low-spec cars. As for the rest of your argument against racing modifications in favour of modularity, I'm in full agreement.

    I know this isn’t a returning feature, but what do you guys think about an endgame mode?
    So you’ve bought your first GT4 car?
    Why not have full championship seasons in your region of choice:
    North America, Europe, or Asia
    Have Practice, Qualifying, and Race on 10+ courses per season against hard AI. Earn points in a championship based on the WEC points system. Keep getting better and soon you’ll win a race here and there.
    Earn driver ratings from Bronze to Gold like real WEC drivers. Once you earn these ratings you can get contracts from driving teams to race GT4, GT3, LMP3, LMP2, GTP, etc. and eventually the WEC.
    All of these championships can be selected as a sprint or endurance race championship.
    The point for progressing would be a badge next to your gamer tag on every online lobby as well as rewarding legendary cars for winning certain events like the 24hrs of Le Mans or Daytona.

    Something GT4 does that I wish was in every racing game is a “track day” mode. Just running time trials in the track with absolutely random other cars and driver skills. I even have an idea for a whole game that focuses on the local track day version of racing instead of professional racing. It’s just too dang fun and I love it so much.

    A very important feature many people don't know are GT4 timed races. GT3, 5, 6, Sport, and 7 use timed races where your final lap is given when the timer hits zero but the leader isn't the one who finishes first which leads to interesting results to say the least. GT4 uses timed races where your final lap is given when the timer hits zero and the leader is the one who finishes first like IRL endurance races. This is very important feature because GT7 has 13 timed races in both World Circuits and Missions and if they want to challenge the player (The Human Comedy comes into mind), they need to implement GT4 timed races so the player gets challenged through the entire race.

    In gt7, you can build a race car out of a street car. I build a stock r32 skyline that can compete with gr1 cars and 900lp cars if you drive well. You just need to do an engine swap to the race engine to be less fuel consuming. Than you max out the car with all tuning options you have (especially the extreme tuning options that you can do after reaching level 50). And then you have to adjust the suspension properly and max out the downforce.
    Its something you can do with a lot of cars in gt7. And then you can create your own livery. If you ask me, its even the better option. Its not just pressing a button. You really have to test the car multiple times on track, until you found the perfect suspension settings. You can be lazy and watch a youtube tutorial too if you dont have the time and nerves for it. I did it too with some cars. But its really rewarding if you build your car perfectliy by your own.

    What GT(7) needs:
    - More tracks/races
    - Racing Mods (or Works conversions like in the NFS Shift series)
    - Awards for Silver
    - Cars as awards for certain races
    - Generelly cars, that cannot be bought, but have to be earned (racing, championship, etc.)
    - Qualifying/Grid start in single player mode
    - B Spec
    - Constructor's races/championships like in GT4
    - 1 or 2 modern F1 cars would be nice
    - (more) endurance races for single player and online
    - Concept cars (not Vision GT) like the Nike Car from GT4 (I fully expected them to add it to GT7, since it's a "2022" car
    and much more, but what I miss most in GT7 is the grind compared to say GT4. I never managed to get gold on everything in GT4 and I hated, but also loved the grind, some cars, I still haven't unlocked. It felt much more special, even getting the mose useless cars from the most useless races was kinda fun back then, I miss that.

    The GT6 B-spec mode could be good for better accessibility for those who may struggle with using a controller because of a disability. Now, if that was the purpose of the B-Spec mode in GT6, idk, but you could argue the car turning and somewhat driving itself could benefit accessibility.

    so, the racing mods basically got integrated into the game after the customization became more detailed and after skin editors. Makes sense, maybe being able to somehow "license" the car as a Race or Rally car would be better, since it would at least let you race with that specific car. The whole appeal of Gran Turismo is that you can potentially take any car and race all the way from the bottom up to the GT World League with it. At least for me.

    I absolutely loved the teammate game mechanic back in racedriver grid, it completely changes the way you play.
    And i think that would be the most fun way of implementing b-spec in gt7.
    Another way could be focusing even more on the managerial side, and adding b-spec in a separated mode similar to the f1 manager games.

    B-spec was good for grinding for cash and that was about it. In GT4 there was a high payout race at Le Man's that once you got the ai driver leveled up enough, you would put on the race in B-spec mode and turn off the TV. Come back in a couple of hours and voila, cash.

    A note regarding the racing modifications and your assertion that it's no longer relevant because of how extensively you can modify your cars; yes, they _look_ like race cars in most cases, but for many of those cases they still handle like road cars and can't acheive anything near the grip levels of the actual race cars. The aftermarket wings and splitters for many of them don't generate nearly as much downforce as they really should, with some cars having half the maximum downforce of even a Gr.4 car. Then there's the fuel issue, where most road cars are completely non-viable for races where fuel consumption is a factor unless that car happens to have an engine swap that comes from a race car, in which case the donor car's apparent fuel capacity is carried over.

  • @RoadRager1904
    @RoadRager1904 5 месяцев назад +2

    On your RM idea, while I like that, I think it could still be combined with racing modifications in the sense of, you can buy your mustang, upgrade it how you want to, and it remains as a "road" car (or maybe unhomologated, perhaps a better term), or alternatively you can buy the Gr.4 racing modification and it puts the standard body kit and upgrades, and you then could use it for Gr.4 events (it'd be homologated for Gr.4). The ammount of race cars there are in Gr.4 and 3, and even 2, there would be plenty of cars with RMs available for them. I think it'd better match the feeling on GT1 and GT2 of you buying your base spec car, using it on lower tier events, upgrading it as you progressed through, and eventually buying the RM for the higher tier events, having that attachment with your car as it's been with you as you moved up in the career. Of course that would work better with a career mode that was made for such a thing, not car menus.
