It is but it is a great heirloom. I have made them for my kids and granddies with their names on them and they love them. To be honest they dont take that long to make certainly no longer than any other multihooped applique.
Beautiful Kay. Love the way you sew and show us how the kreative kiwi patterns work . I have bought a few because of this and Heather is very generous with her patterns and has great sales . Thank you for demonstrating these . Keep up the excellent work.
Just stunning ! I am anxious to make one for my new grandaughter. I am going to add her name, but haven't decided where yet ! Thank yo ufor great tutorial video !
Kay, thank you once again for a awesome SAL. Taking time away from yourself to share your videos is deeply appreciated. Your work is perfect and your instructions awesome.I'm thrilled you shared the finishing section of this gorgeous design. Wow! Great teamwork with Kreative Kiwi. Angel Huggers!! PS. I can clearly see the beautiful silver thread and quilting in your video. :-) Love, love it!
Thank you. I have just made another stitch along for the crazy patch version of this stocking in those colours. It does look beautiful as you will see when the SAL is published.
Actually you would think so but really t isn't that much work especially this version. You can stitch one up in an afternoon or evening. I have a production line going at the moment for all my family. I am doing one each day wit other things being made in between. They are well worth the effort of making them though.
Hi, I finally got up the courage to try your beautiful stocking and get an early start on Christmas. One question...in the printed out instructions you indicate adding a 1 1/2 inch seam allowance, but in the video you add only a 1/2 inch. I'm assuming the 1/2 inch because there is not enough room on the fabric for 1 1/2. Thanks.
@@KaysCutz Thank you. That's what I thought. The design is amazing....you are a true genius. My machine is having some issues with the bobbin thread nesting on the underneath side, but I think my stabilizer is a little too thin. Will try a heavier one. I'm doing one for my two Golden Retrievers and my ancient kitty, Samson to hang on the mantel.
With the fur wouldn't it be easier and more cost effective if we extended to lining to match the size of the front and back once the fur has been added rather than have fur on the inside. Love the white on white i can't decide if i want to do white with silver or white with an old gold mmmm you have me thinking now Kay. Jacqui.
Hi Jac, you can do the fur cuff however you choose there is no right or wrong, only personal preference. I have made both silver and white stockings and they are both stunning. Happy stitching 😊
Hi Busy Beaver, yes it is polyester fleece wadding. It is lovely as high loft but doesn't snag in the foot like other types of poly wadding and used with scuba fabric gives the most amazing detail to the quilting.
I would suggest buying it from from Emma here. I get nearly all my fabrics and batting from here. She posts anywhere. Postage is free for orders over £30 in mainland UK. . www.remnanthousefabric.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=fur&sub_category=true
Wonderful idea and beautiful. I love gorgeous stockings and make new ones every year. A question....what kind of thread do you use? I've been using rayon embroidery thread for other projects and am having a little trouble with the tension. I have a Brother embroidery machine. Thanks. Love all your videos.
Mine is a Brother Innovis 750E larges hoop it takes is a 5"x7". I use Simthreads in Brother colours see link below. I use a -8 tension and no thread cap. I put the cone on the holder and thread it without anything holding it on. I only hoop my stabilizer not my fabric so everything is floated. It is practice practice practice and getting to know your machine. Here is a link to the threads I buy. They are 1100 meters cones rather than the usual 500 meters hence the higher price as they more than twice the length. amzn.to/2D6D5z4
@@KaysCutz Thanks for the reply. I have a Brother also, but I've never had to adjust the tension. I bought the Simthreads last year, but haven't used them yet. I'll try adjusting the tension and no cap. I love all your other designs and have made quite a few of your eyeglass holders as gifts.
I am so pleased you are enjoying making KK things. Elaine Try without the end cap first see if it changes anything before changing your tension. Then go from there.
Hi Lauren welcome to the exciting world of machine embroidery. It sounds to me as if you have got a repositionable hoop. This isn't the same as regular large hoop as the machine doesnt recognise it as having a 130 x 300 stitch field only a 130x180 one and then you have to reposition it yourself but only with designs that have been digitized for a repositionable hoop. In this case then no, however this design is digitized for a 5x7 hoop and as it is made in several hoopings and joined in the hoop so it will grow to be a lot bigger than your 5x7 hoop size when finished - 23cm by 35cm or 9" wide by 14" tall which is a really decent size for a stocking. I hope this helps you. Happy stitching.
Hi Johna thank you. I think any Xmas colour would work have you seen the coloured crazy patch fabric version? Both are part of the set you can get them here www.kreativekiwiembroidery.co.nz/product/Large-crazy-patch-christmas-stocking.html
Sure you can, cotton will work really well and even many others including stretchy fabrics, but don't overstretch them when you place it down and tape it in place. Happy stitching 😊
Thank you. Sorry Yolanda, I am not sure what you mean by, font for Tinkerbell? There isn't a Tinkerbell nor a font used on this stocking so I cant help you I am afraid.
No sorry not in this video there are no names added. Not names I have added to any of my stockings. Cant help you. Maybe Heather or someone else in the Kreative Kiwi family added them on theirs and showed a photo of it but it certainly isn't in this video. I suggest that you try to find the picture of the one you are interested in on Kreative Kiwi's Facebook group and ask that person.
I normally use either 100% quilters cotton batting as it is thin or poly fleece with scuba fabric as it has a little bit of loft it gives a lovely Trapunto effect with the stitching. For this stocking I used poly fleece batting. You can use felt as a batting too if you want a flat batting.
Hi Pat there will be a setting in your machine to mirror it, dont forget to do each hooping though or it wont join together properly. I would suggest you look for a video for your machine and its settings or refer to the user manual as all machines are different so I cant tell you exactly on yours. I do have a video of the settings on my machine the Brother V3, your might be similar I dont know. ruclips.net/video/cfO1lDO1Dsw/видео.html

Thank you Sherry pleased you enjoy them.
Wonderful tutorial. Do you recommend trimming the stabilizer out of the seam allowance before stitching everything together to minimize bulk?
It's personal choice really. If your stabilizer is quite thick or stiff you can trim it out. I hope this helps.
Lovely stocking!! ❤
If I have a giant hoop, can I make this stocking in two hoopings?
No, with this design the bigger the hoop the bigger the stocking will end up. Thanks for watching.
Ok, thank you!! Btw I love your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Lovely. Thanks for a wonderful tut! And, an early Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🎄🎈

I think you will find it is a typo error in the instructions. It should be half inch seam allowance.

Is there a way to do the bigger stocking if the largest hoop I have is a 5x12? I am really new to all of this and maybe there is a trick I don't know?

Thanks for the fabric recommendations. I hope I bought the right fabric. There were several choices under scuba fabrics.
