mightisright - Norm lays down a false pre-interview & never goes to that expected talk during interviews. He said he doesn’t like the host to know what’s coming in advance.
Letterman & Conan figures this out waaay back & now they just skip the preinterview. I don’t think Kimmel was as wise to it at this point.

3ternal dunno, he had two specials out when you commented, one of which wasn't terribly old and is one of the best hours of stand-up ever, and had a third special released a few months after your comment. he could do ten more probably and still wouldn't get the recognition he deserves. norm would disagree, but he does do smart comedy. not in the sense that he provides intelligent social commentary, but that much of it is subtle enough to sail right over dumb people's heads. it's a totally douchey thing to say, but it's true. have you ever tried telling a subtle joke like the 'this guy was a real jerk' joke to dumb people?

Jimmy says it's fun since you can discuss what happened with friends. Norm's book club answer refers to the fact that a book club is where you're able to discuss something that everyone read in their own spare time. His point is that he doesn't care for talking about what's going on with the show, he just wants to see the whole thing. Fucking so happy Norm brought him up so much, I don't know if I ever would have heard of Rickles if he didn't. This is why we love Norm. He's the smartest guy in the room, but he juxtaposes this fact with his shtick where he's the dumbest guy in the room, or, more accurately, that he's not necessarily dumb but that he's the most naive guy in the room. The effect is hysterically funny, and he deserves all the accolades he's received because of his genius. I mean, who else but Norm could drop a Nora Ephron reference but yet juxtapose this with being a naïf, and get such laughs?
