  • Hey guys! On Wednesday, August 23rd, I visited the Ron Coleman Crystal Mine for a FREE dig that day! Woohoo! Thank you to the staff at Ron Coleman Crystal Mine!!
    In this video, I go over 3 different ways to have a free dig at the mine, and I show examples of what types of crystals to expect to find. Also, how the crystals (both singles and clusters) look when they're raw out of the ground, and how they look cleaned up.
    I hope that this video looks like help to you if you are thinking of visiting this location!
    Thanks for watching, and God bless!
    -Joe

    Thank you for sharing. I have been wanting to go there for so long! I've lived in Arkansas for nearly 40 years and I still haven't made it. And yeah Arkansas is harsh in the heat and humidity of the summer. Maybe I can get my grandson to go with me on my birthday in November. It's definitely on my bucket list! The crystals are absolutely beautiful.

      Yes, it's such a blessing to be able to do that. Ron Coleman's is one of my favorite mines in that area, for sure.

    The busted ones are great for tumbling, or, if they are perfectly clear, save them in case you want to try faceting!

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  5 месяцев назад

      Yes! They're great "filler" pieces, for sure! I've never done any faceting before, but it is definitely something I could attempt at a future date. Thanks so much for the suggestion!! :)

    We’re going to have to have some kind of birthday meetup sometime. Mine’s the 20th and Jeff’s is the 22nd. I’m 2 days older than him 😆

    My family is here now, we didn’t find near what you got. I found a couple of good clear ones but mostly all shards or super tiny points. We really can’t haul one of those big ones in our van. Let alone getting one to it.

    Well this might be my plan come June 2nd! It’s gonna be very hot though so I’m a little hesitant. Heading to Missouri for a group dig May 11-12

    What part of the grounds did you go to? Did you go to a place where they dump the truck loads? The reason I ask is I was there 3 weeks ago, digging around in the dirt for 4 hours and only found 8 small broken crystals. I would love to find a spot like you did.

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  5 месяцев назад +1

      I usually ask the staff where the freshest piles have been dumped before I start to dig. If none are available for asking, I look around the grounds to see which ones look the freshest verses the ones that look like they have been sitting around for a few months. The fresher ones are usually colored a little differently and appear more turned up and are less settled and worn down and packed down by weather and people.

    We went to what we thought was Ron Coleman's but it totally didn't look like that. The sign said Fisher mountain, but there was only one mound, any idea if we didn't go far enough down the road or somehow we missed it?

    I’m a hard digger, had good luck there years ago, last 3 trips have been very disappointing I DONT think I am going back, something ther has changed,

    • @joedadbod8450
      @joedadbod8450  5 месяцев назад

      I'm so sorry! I do better on some trips than I do other trips, but I always at least get my money's worth of crystals every time I go. I can't always knock it out of the park, but when you get a fresh load with all kinds of goodies, it's hard to have a bad day there. If they haven't dumped for a couple of weeks, it can be hard to get some good pieces.
