just fixed 96 ram last night---issue no heat--replaced t-stat--cleaned out heater core[flushed] new anti-freeze, burped system, new radiator hoses[just because]. now she's blowing crazy heat! AND we always put the shroud back on them--always........leaving shroud off is an old farmers trick--it just makes the radiator hotter i.e. fluid hotter which in turn makes heater core hotter--result? more heat...we just prefer to run the shroud ! have a great day!
Got a suggestion. Do not buy cheep wires or spark plugs. Also on # 8 cylinder if the plug fails out constantly. The problem is probably on the bottom plate gasket on the intake sucking oil. Had that happen
I've always just put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator and cover about half of the radiator, always worked and is easy to put in and take out
You said they could have put the engine of more forward... the weight distribution between the front axle and the rear axle is why it has to be where it's at in the original normal spot.... the real problem is actually if you want to call a problem is that they make the biggest cab of all pickup trucks and that is probably why the cab is pushing over the engine, not the engine going under the cab
Ur right Eng has to be where it is An wouldn’t u know it Today that’s where I’m working On the back side of the engine at distubtor ( so I can’t spell ) Got a dead wire to coil an it’s not the green one any ideas any one
I believe you stumbled on to fixing the problem. First, there is nothing wrong with Mopar wires. The problem is the routing, particularly the coil wire. There is a TSB on the proper routing but in general the coil wire MUST be at least 1" away from any other ignition wires. Some of the wires must be routed in wire loom. All wires must be attached along their route using the wire clips in the factory positions. EACH wire has a specific direction it leaves the distributor cap, and a specific routing. Details can be found in the ALLDATA website, which also lists the correct part numbers for the wire clips. Also, did your throttle body to air filter housing gasket get stuck on the bottom of the housing? I noticed it was missing?
Nice video but the p0308 spark plug wire, was that closes to the alternator? I am running that code p0308 so need to know exact location, then follow it to distributor cap like you did in the back and replace it. Thanks.
I ended up running it on fumes. I have a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5.2L. I am going to guess why mine is running like crap ever sense I filled the gas in it. My best guess is it's probably the fuel injector.... I just don't have a clue which one it is.....
Really cheap? The date code on that plug wire indicates it's the original 20 year old plug wire from 1998. Not a matter of "cheap junk". More like a cheap owner who never tuned the truck up in two decades.
Consume de gasolina? O a que tipo de consumo te refieres? 5.9 si esta corriendo bien 17-15 millas por galon freeway el 5.2 si esta corriendo bien te puede dar las 20 millas por gallon
first of all, the wires are obviously not junk or they wouldn't have lasted that long AND as you pointed out, you need to properly pull them off and not pull the wire. That plug connection was really good. Secondly, what you are calling "heat shielding" on that wire is nothing more than normal split loom used for cosmetics. It does not improve the heat characteristics of the wire. You should have probably worked on a Ford as you wanted so you could get all the crap needed and spend 3 days taking out the snapped off plugs. Maybe better you could have had a leaking manifold gasket so you could pull the whole front end to get to it. Enjoy your Fords bro and please let the sweet Dodges to those who know better.
Had a 98, 318, 1500. Looked just like yours. Always powerwashed the chassis. At 107,000 miles I almost rolled it over at 65 mph because the frame cracked in half. It rotted inside out, box frame. Dodge never had a recall, a lawsuit, or any sort of compensation for those who supported their corporation. I bet some have been killed. What the FUCK ? I never swear on RUclips, but they should have fessed up years ago. How belligerent can a corporation be ? They stole my hard earned money because why ? Deep in politicians pockets ? Shameful and irresponsible. NEVER BUY DODGE, EVER. NEVER AGAIN. 👎👎😠
This guy is very sloppy .Does not describe his work very well.i have a 96 Dodge ram with 209,000 miles on it same motor and transmission just had this code pop up ,my cause was a vacuum leak.

5:27 he bent the shit out of the AC line. If I was the customer I'd whip his ass.
One big reason I like my '67 Ford!
I put new plugs and wires in mine and it still pops up with the cylinder 8 misfire. I guess next step is the ignition coil.
I’ve got an 0307 code. Replaced cables first, then spark plug. Moving on to fuel injector… wish me luck
Great video, Cherokee Ronnie. Explained everything very good. Thank you for this video.
my 97' dodge has ignition problems and I replaced plug wires, coil, crank. sensor, I'm gonna replace the distributor next, is it difficult to remove?
That is a pretty truck

Is it good to change out the coil with the tune up on my 98 dodge ram1500 truck
Do you have problems with the door alarm going off when you open it?
@@adamcooke1462 I do... my alarm keeps going off until I close the door
Hey I have a 2001 Ram that was sitting for about 3 months until I replaced the clutch now want start should I try coil pack 1st
I would check the crank sensor wire on back of the block if you havent already.

@Gray Wulf yeah that's why my 98 has 284K miles. Duhhhhhhh
Well that make it die and when you try to restart it the oil per has no preser
what about a p0301 cylinder 1 misfire any specs on that? please help
Is that the only code that comes up ?
@@GuciTheBulldog1 yes
I’m getting the same code p0301
im sorry , are you saying coil wire or cooling wire..?
Coil wire man. We’re talking ignition system here
They used to be on the front on the 440 Magnum engines
Y'all need to treat your dodge like the girlfriend. She should be clean and pretty.
Alguien sabe cuál es consumo de este motor magnum v8 laramie de la Ram 1500 slt 5.2?
5.9

One minute in. Funny that is exactly the error code I am getting on cylinder 8

Farmall Red you done feel better because we solved nothing here 😂
Right!
oh my God my dad left me the exact same trucks at the 2001 and it's got the 360 last year for the 360 there's two wheel drive
Brad Campbell you need a 318
not the last year of the 360, my 02 3rd gen has a 5.9 360 in it
really What was that
Can’t beat a good Ford and it looks good with the distributor at the front of the engine and so much easier to work on
replace your thermostat...it's stuck open, that's why it's not getting up to temp...it's never closing...
The Mopar parts except for a few things on my 2001 1500 5.2 are all junk..
Instead of taking the shroud out, put a couple pieces of cardboard in front of the grille.
I did it made the transmission slip
My 98 quad cab needs a fuel pump.
electric fan conversion for me :)
Ronnie help me
That's true junk wires!
If you remove the distributor cap it’s a little easier.
Cylinder 6
Ford's are easier to work on than Dodge Ram 1500 5.2.
