Thank you for this. Been changing every part known to man on my 01. Gonna change all this and see if it solves my issues.
Truck starts fine when cold. Get warms. Shut off. Won’t start til she’s cold again. Had some advice saying change the pickup coil.
    Anyway thanks man. 🤙🏻

Good luck, I hope it fixes your issue.
If not you might have do to the dreaded plenum gasket.
Im actually doing mine whenever it stops raining and or freezing here.
      Thanks again for watching!

100% agree. It tears up your stomach laying across the radiator and engine.
      Hope it helped you.

@@RJsGarages I used two thick furniture pads to lay across the fan shroud and engine. It helped a lot, but it is still a very tough job.

Yes, I used to use a furniture moving pad as well, but mine got messed up, I should get some new ones since we just got our son his first truck and have lots of wrenching to do.
      Thanks again.

Hope this helps me. I got the p0340 cam sensor/phaser code intermittent but doesn't always keep it from starting when the engine lights on. Not good to have as a pizza driver. Can't get stranded at the hotels or apartments having to kill it for security.

Ive got a 98 ram 1500 thats been sitting for 4 years. Its giving me a crank but no start condition. Fuel pump kicks on for 3 seconds and then goes off when key is placed to on position. While cranking, the tach gage doesn't show and deflection. No spark coming off the coil either. So my initial thought was crank position sensor. Hooked it up to a scanner and im getting two codes: Crankshaft position sensor and Camshaft position sensor which I believe is the distributor "pickup" as you described here. Seems odd they would both be bad?? Any advice? change em both I guess?

Have you took off your air filter housing and looked through your throttle body with a flashlight?
If you do and see oil sitting in the intake manifold, you have a bad plenum gasket.
The best fix is the hughes plenum gasket kit. If it ends up being that be carefull removing the bolts into the block. Pb blast them repeatedly you do not want to brake a bolt off into the block.
I am actually contemplating doing a plenum gasket kit soon.
But i am currently doing timing chain gasket and timing chain and replacing temperature seding sensor and thermostat and housing while I am in there.
      Good luck.
Also check the vacuum hoses on the back left side of the engine by where the ac lines go through the firewall. They brake alot and cause vacuum issues.
      Thanks for watching!
