    Actually that is the proper operation of the door, if you are not getting a lot of heat, check your engine thermostat or maybe your heater core is starting to get plugged. Might need a coolant flush and while your are at it, change the thermostat. your heat should work just fine. Just some advice from a 15 year ASE Master Tech.

      I own a 99 dodge ram 1500, changed the thermostat and did a coolant flush, still lukewarm. I read in a forum that the tubes that lead into your fire wall into heatercore should both be warm to the touch at operating temperature to ensure a good conditioned heater core, they both were warm. I have not tried this method with this circulating door.

      Now watch your windows fog up during the winter. The recirculate door is for your A/C during the summer recirculating the A/C.

  • @gerardr4869
    @gerardr4869 Год назад +7

    Recirculating cabin air passing it trough the heating core will make it warmer (only if your heating core is hot). However, if the heating core is partially plugged the air will not get that hot.
    Recirculating air all the time will make the windows to fog up in some days likely in really cold or when there is a lot of moisture in the air.

    Just pull off the blower fan under passenger dash (3 screws). remove the glove box . Reach a hand up through the hole where the fan was mounted while flashlighting through the window/grate behind the glove box. You'll see the recirculating air door and motor (Break away that plastic grate if you want). You can now see through to guide your hand to unplug the motor to the recirc door. I just did this to reinstall a broken door and sealed it permanently shut recurculating. Clean those fan blades on the blower fan while it's uninstalled... .

    When doing this and permanently having it in recirculating, does defrost still work to get rid of humid air that would cause fogging of the windows?

  • @SteveGMO
    @SteveGMO 6 месяцев назад

    On my 2008 1500 the door was just a little stuck. I cleaned it and put some silicone spray on it and it started working again. When the fan motor is turned off the door is supposed to shut. It should only open when the control is turned to a setting that is for recirculation. You may not need to unplug the motor if your door just needs to be cleaned and lubed.

    This video got the heat working decently in my buddies 03 2500 Ram with the 5.9 Cummins. It's not hot hot but the truck is at least warm now, thank you!
    The setup under the dash in this truck was a little different, but this video gives you just about everyone you need to know. You don't actually have to take all the dash pieces off, just the glovebox. Then you can pop the side panel off and reach through there with a screwdriver to push the lever to release the clip for the actuator and reach underneath with your other hand to pull it out.
    Thanks again

    The actuator is snapped together you can also,be careful becouse the is little plastic gears inside but if the actuator is bad dosnt matter if they fall out,after popping bottom off you will see the shaft that tirns in cycle of hot to cold take a pair of small pliers and turn closing the door. The actuator is bad just replace when you can so you can use the switche property agin

For those concerned about defrost/defog, all you have to do is turn the vent selector knob to the 50/50 defrost/heat setting, which can be done by turning the vent selector knob to the 12 o'clock postiion. • @andrewbaker8781
      @andrewbaker8781 Год назад

      @@__WJK__ Blend doors are a common issue in our trucks from what I have read. The blend door itself, there's a plastic gromet on the end of the "flapper" (If you will) and it breaks, so it spins freely with the actuator while the door (flapper) lays flat and doesn't change direction of the air. There's lots of videos around that show this - and a couple of different fixes. unfortunately, the BEST fix is costly and involves removing the entire dashboard/hvac control from the truck.

  • @treefrogjoness

    If you do what he did and make the recirculation door stay in the recirculate position, you very likely will have fogged up windows unless the air conditioner is on all the time to dehumidify along with the heat control being on. It would be a lot better to properly diagnose the problem and fix it right instead of what they call jury rigging.

      most cars when they are put into the defrost selection mode the ac kisck in to DRY the inside air and defrost the class,, thats why your warm sweat and breath is fogging it up before you turn the defroster on.. also humid environments this would be a common occurance,, so make sure ac is on with the defresoter,, mine is automatic

    There is a reason the fresh air intake is there. It allows fresh air into the cab so your windows do not fog up. It should only be closed when you have the setting on recirculate or max .

    This may help but I'm not convinced it resolves issue. It may get warmer but at the cost of fogging.
    Low heat is usually a sign of a bad/clogged heater core.
    Check fluid (coolant/antifreeze) level before anything. Low levels also cause poor heat.
