That bike came out mid year 1972. It sold for just shy of 500.00. My brother bought one just like it. Honda motor corp had a motor recall on the engine, can't remember what was wrong but they took the motor apart and fixed something. Great to see old bikes come back to life. 1972 beautiful motorcycles and beautiful music. God Bless
yep, it,s like a resurrection- no surprise the barrel n rings were ok chrome liners in the block,in our honda store he,s NEVER had to fix a honda barrel in 20 years

You are so lucky sir. These small CB's are realiable for fuel consumption and daily city cruise. In my country, Indonesia, they have become some kind of old legendary japanese motorcycle with so many enthusiasts. The original ones are very precious and expensive, but they often upgraded to 160cc,200cc (swapping engine parts from bigger bikes in the same family), and even more crazy that i've seen some of these bikes modified to V-TWIN configuration fully handmade!. long live Honda CB family!
I'm 15 and my family owns four old school motorcycles. And one of them is a Honda cb 100. I can't stand the never plastic looking motorcycles they look very fake. Maybe it's because I was raised thinking that these motorcycles were cooler.

Same issues with the carb and float we got it running but the mag was bad and we just couldn't find the parts for it. We sold it to a fellow who restored and collected old dirt bikes. Still made a good profit. He said he belonged to a vintage racing club. Have fun with the Honda. I always have my ear to the ground for stuff like that. Old anything mechanical.
Congratulations! Your little clean up, some tinkering and she runs and sounds good. That tool kit is in great shape and a nice surprise! Some work in the tank, a few parts (and maybe tires) and she will be out "meeting the nicest people" again!
My buddy had one kind of like that back in the early 70's . He was trail riding with it (going way to fast) when he hit a big wild dog way back in the woods the crash totaled it. He was lucky to only have some scratches and bruises. Nice find

Jonathan thanks for sharing brought back alot of memories I'm 53 and this was identical to my first motorcycle when I was a youngster my mom and dad bought me it for $100 after being persuaded by my cousin who new the seller personally it was quite an upgrade from the 5hp mini bike I was riding took awhile to learn how to ride even taught my mom how to ride it although she went slow and I don't think she ever got it past 3rd gear would love to have one of these again
Coincidence? I think not! I just picked up a 1974 CB125S yesterday! Awesome little vintage bikes. Mine hadn't been registered since 1984 in Georgia and it made its way to Indiana earlier in the year where a Honda Dealer got it running like a top. I then came upon it by happenstance through a wanted add on CL. So, a 2.5 hour drive to get it, then back home and it's taking up company with my 1973 CB350 Four. Brilliant Bike Johnathan! Cheers! I remember owning a honda h100s2 similar to that built in 1985. I also had problem with the low beam bulb that kept blowing. Cheap to run and it could do 85mpg. Sadly it was a short ownership when Mr white van man pulled out in front of me along a busy high street one Monday afternoon, resulting in bent forks and as a result my confidence on 2 wheels took a nosedive. Quite quick it was too. My uncle now has it and to this day it is exactly as it was after the accident 23 years ago.
Jonathon, I used triple ooo steel wool and fuel oil to clean up some old chrome. Seemed to work pretty good, the person I cleaned the parts for was happy. Be safe. Peace.
I have to quit watching you guys having so much fun. I went a little eBay crazy about 15 years ago and ended up with 5 of the CL Scrambler version of this bike. A small fortune in NOS parts, and all I need now is the time and space to start turning wrenches. Toss in four SL-70’s, half a dozen old Evinrudes, and a couple of Forrest Gump classic riding mowers. My wife just tolerates me at this point.

Actually Honda got busted by our federal government around 1975 for selling bikes made in 1973 as new bikes in 74' and 75' . My dad got a 75' for the reduced price the government demanded . Was a swinging deal . He bought the CB 125 to ride to work and go river fishing . Oddly , a few searches on the internet resulted in no findings . Is fun bringing back old bikes and cars .
I did find the auction bill floating around my truck and just for shits and giggles will relay the brands and models of them. The one with A title was A Honda400 Hondamatic of A 79 vintage with 2364 miles on the clock. The other was A Honda 450 that they think was A 1971. No mileage listed for that one. Apparently the Hondamatic was some what rare and that's why it went for several hundred and in addition it had the title. They didn't start them as the batteries were missing but they did kick through and had decent compression.
Dupli-Color has a light gray colored wheel paint works perfect matches up pretty good too the factory Honda. I had a 1984 Z 50 looked great. After I repainted it
Runs like a Honda :) Having the tool kit is great. Roy's old 32 Lanchester had the tool kit in the boot when I first saw it in around 2002, think he's lost it now.

No probs Danny. It's a bit the same with your cars here. My mate where I keep the tractor has a 63 Galaxy and a 63 Chevvy Fleetside They are on my recent Rand Show video. When you see the shows it's amazing really just how many of these cars have survived :)
Yeah, both of those were common around here. The '63 Galaxy used to be one of my favorite cars. I loved the look of them with five spoke Graigers. I never owned one tho'. I did have a '64 Galaxy 500XL convertible. Also, I used to own a '65 Chevy step side pick-up. Basically the same vehicle as your friends '63 with a different bed.

Yea, I think the float filled up and it's putting fuel to the top of the bowl which has a gasket that might as well be made of rocks. The float looked like swiss cheese. I ordered a float and a kit for it.
Very cool! I used to have a 1975/6 CB 125 (it was blue). It was the first ever carburetor I took apart. That spring sure surprised me, when I un-screwed the top! After I got the carb and gas tank cleaned, it fired on about the 5th kick, but it would only run for about 3 minutes. I think I had a bad coil. I gave it to a guy I worked with. I'm not sure what he ever did with it.
check the valves after running it for a while also make sure the cam chain tensioner is adjusted it sounds a little noisy which is not too uncommon for the era

Being in a barn so many years it looks pretty good for its age. Id like to find an old bike or car or something and be able to bring it back to life on my own instead of sending it somewhere to be done. Unfortunately i dont have the know how and money to do it.
You cant beat those old Hondas. I had a 50. It was a 69. The handle bars would fold down to put in trunk of a Car...I rode the Shit out the little thing...LOL....
if the bike hasn't ran since 81 like you say at the beginning of the video it was parked in the barn in 1981 that would mean it hasn't ran in 36 years not 31 years . I only bring that up because I was born in 83 and I'm 34 now
You make it look so easy granted you got bike in excellent shape but still did you even pull the plug? No smoke after 30+ years! Do you think you'll be able to save the tank?

hondas have that very distinctive engine sound as well as great motorcycles that are very well built and durable

Neat old Honda 👌 when I was 12 my dad got me an old CB 160 and told me if I got it running it was mine. So I did. 🤘
Had one when I was in the Navy in San Diego, Loved that bike it had a electronics start on mine.

I had to solder the float on my1957 250 DKW as well when I had it. It worked fine after that even made it slightly faster.

That one tool , with a u shape end may be for tightening spokes , looks familiar as I have seen original spoke tools before

yamaha carb cleaner solution is magical . been using it for 20 plus years. try some.
last time i tried soldering a carb float it exploded.... ha ha, fuel inside it made for a pretty big bang.
