All of The Oh Hellos' music reminds me of Narnia, they just have a mystical and soothing yet wistful and fantastical quality about them with a hint of religious undertones, and this song especially reminds me of Edmund!
The lament of Eustace scrubb is litterally based on Narnia

I listened to The Lamnent of Eustace Scrubb and went to see if they wrote anymore based on Narnia. I saw the title and thought this could be about Edmund, so I clicked it.
The title "Dear Wormwood" is a reference to C.S. Lewis' 'The Screwtape Letters' as well

@@kgpspyguy I doubt the decapitated party has enough time to reflect on lessons learned in the few seconds their bodiless head is still alive, so that probably counts as a waste.
This song is honestly so personal for me, I've struggled with depression and self image for such a long time and there's just something about this song that never fails to put my mind to ease. I hold it close to me when times get hard.

This song is everything to me. After a long battle with alcohol and drugs and losing important relationships because of it, I’ve finally given in and gotten the help I needed. I already have a tattoo from their song “hello my old heart” and this song is just as good if not better. Love this band
Me too. Stood next to my ex balling my eyes out when they played this song live. It became a turning point too late for my relationship at the time. It guided me through recovery. Stay happy. My tears to this song are now filled with gratitude.
This song is so damn beautiful, I can't stop listening to it. Not only is the actual music incredibly comforting and personal, but the lyrics are incredibly intimate. This album is about Adam and Eve in the Garden, and the song about Adam's failure to follow God's commands, but it means so much more to me than that. It's about recognizing and owning up to your failures, while setting your sights towards building a better future for yourself and those that come after you. It's about maturity and growth and tough times, and for someone with really bad depression, it's a solid rock to hold on to amid the rushing tides.
Can you tell I like this band yet? They've been such a huge source of relief and reassurance for me, no matter the religious themes. They touch on so many deeply personal and deeply painful parts of humanity while reminding us that there is hope for all of us. This band has helped so much and I cannot help but feel grateful.

The Oh Hellos are my new favorite band. Everything I have listened to so far is beautiful and meaningful . I wouldn't mind at all these songs getting stuck in my head. Thanks for making music.
They're unheard of due to the fact they make music strictly for the purpose of enjoying it. It's a means to an ends for them, I mean I'm sure if they get recognition for it they would enjoy that, but it seems to me that they aren't in it for the publicity or money for that matter which makes them all the cooler in my opinion.

I'm going through a break up currently, and it's completely my fault. I have trauma and demons that manifested during our relationship and she thought it would be best for us to no longer see each other. What hurts the most is that this is completely self inflicted. I was the problem.
I came across this song while on Reddit and the timing couldn't be more perfect. As hurt as I feel right now, I know that I will be a better husband and man because of what I went through with her. Everything can't always be sunshine and rainbows. There are points in life where you're going to experience rain. However, there's always something to learn from these storms that will allow you be whole.
That's my mindset currently going through this and I'm so happy that I have this song to help me get throught this. I think everytime I hear this song, it will remind of me what I had with my lady, and how I messed it up, but it will also always remind me of the lesson. Growing pains, I guess. Yes, I have made mistakes and I'll continue to make them, but my mistakes do not define me because I'll learn from them and continue to grow.
You might be going through your own rain and you're not sure when the sun is going to shine agian. Lord knows that's how I'm feeling. Well, you may not know when the sun will shine again but that doesn't mean it won't. Keep your head up and continue to put one foot in front of the other every single day and lean on God to help you.

So I was watching the show, Beauty and the Beast, when this song played in the background. I always pay attention to the music that is chosen, and this song hit me. I instantly looked it up and was surprised I had never heard of The Oh Hellos and yet, I am even more excited to get to dive into more of their music. Thank you, this song hits the soul in all the right spots.

I was not expecting to have such a guttural response to this song. All of the trials aren’t for nothing if you learn something from them. They don’t have to leave you wounded. They can leave you better than before. As someone who can let it all fester and spread, it was what I needed to hear. A bittersweet and somber release. This song is a little too real
