  • Welcome back to another video of working on the truck! Today we're still trying to track down that stupid little shake(s) I've been getting, and next up being loaded into the parts cannon is the external wiring harness. Let's see if this sticks! (Probably Not)

    Every truck I drove in 45years. One of the first thing I always did was change the fuel lines. That and put a fuel pressure gauge in the dash. Just Saying. Good Luck. Stay Safe. 🇺🇸😎

    This could be a good start, like we said before parts changing is expensive, but hopefully it will solve the problem. Heat and time could crack wires where you can't find it. Hopefully this is it, if not we will still be here to support you. Stay safe out there my friend and keep the videos coming and always travel safely catch you on the next one.

    From JPayDirt channel .... Came across this excellent primer on these critical engine components. JPayDirt a couple of years back maybe 2018 actually took one off his truck and cut it in half to reveal a congealed hardened mass of silicone. The damper is replaced at 500,000 miles typically. This 10 minute video will be helpful in understanding why they need to be changed. The balancer is like the Centramatic unit for truck wheels but is filled with mercury rather than beads.

    The crank could possibly be professionally balanced at both ends. Clutch side and front of engine but you would need to ask around about getting that done. The vibration issue eventually translates into a broken crank or any other number of other expensive issues. The two more recent videos at Delray JYD regarding the rebuild of a 359 EXHD has a sharp craftsman named Chris building a wiring harness and he does impressive work. He will custom build a wiring harness for less than the cost of manufacturer and specific to need. Interesting video.

    I changed that harness on my 6nz a few years ago and mixed up the oil pressure and elevation sensor. I cooked a piston on the first big hill. I thought the connectors were idiot proof. I was wrong.

  • @babyjoker360

    Hey bud. Your shake is fuel delivery related. Have your fuel pressure tested

    • @callthemall
      @callthemall  2 года назад

      I have a gauge semi-permanently mounted on my mirror bracket now, and it stays within spec but occasionally drops like it’s sneaking air into the system. Inconsistent with the shaking though, but I do agree it is with fuel delivery, whether the lines, pump, or injectors themselves.

    Your video's rock.. Like plugging a Les paul into a marshall JCM800 and all the levels are at 10. Just a thought could the shaking be a damper of fuel pump? Do you ever go to Madoc?

    • @callthemall
      @callthemall  2 года назад

      Likely not the dampener, and Fuel pressure stays consistent though I’m not 100% ruling out the pump. I may still be getting air in the fuel system somewhere. And yeah I’ve been to madoc quite a bit picking up stone

    • @callthemall
      @callthemall  2 года назад +1

      Yep changed the primer pump pretty early on. It was pushing out fuel past the rings, which means air is coming in in its place! No change ultimately though

  • @chasekostiuk4263

    • @callthemall

      I would imagine it would be cheaper to chase down whatever shake I’m dealing with right now than replacing the engine! And I would stick with CAT, maybe an earlier model though if emissions laws would allow that
