- In this video we show you how to change the spark plugs on a 2011 Honda CR-V. This process should be basically the same on all CR-V that use either the 2.0 or 2.4 liter K series engine. On some newer models, the engine cover may be different, as well as the routing of some hoses over the valve cover.
This is my first time working on a modern Honda engine. The last engine I did more than the oil on was a 1999 Civic. So thank you for this video!
As a newbie to car repair, there's a lot of great small tips here
We've all gotta start somewhere. I had a bunch of great teachers, and I've learned from breaking too many parts 😆
Question: you don't need to adjust the gap on the plug? Agree they pre-gapped? How do you know they weren't bent during shipping?
They were pre gapped, but I did check them before hand.
Is the oil around the threads a concern? I had that on my car when I did them yesterday not sure
Around the threads of the spark plug itself?
Yes the head was fine didn’t appear the oil was being burned by it. The coil was dry
@armandogomez2677 it's gotta be coming from somewhere. Sounds like you have a very small leak from the spark plug seals. If it was me, I'd replace the valve cover gasket. It's right at 50 dollars for parts. Make sure you get the one labeled valve cover gasket SET. The regular valve cover gasket doesn't have the spark plug seals.
