You know the game was pretty fast back then too. However the shifts were longer...players took longer shifts and thus had to conserve energy for those quick burst moments when something opened up. This is very good, high quality hockey.
Orr with Howe was the best at every part of the game. When his speed was gone he was still the best at skating (but slower), anticipating what was going to happen, passing, stickhandling, shooting, checking and defence.
At 1:11:00 the announcer has time to talk a little about Jiri Holik #20, a player on the Czech team who was playing but also his wife just had a baby boy the night before. The end of an era. A entire team of Hall of Famers. Orr and Hull at advanced ages, yet could beat the best. Sittler's goal was picture perfect. The Forum gone. Doucette gone.
Amazing to think that a Czech team pushed to OT a Canadian team full of Hall of Famers, many of whom (not all mind) were in their primes. Perhaps if they were playing on the big ice they were accustomed to, the results may have been different. Too bad alot of these Czechs are forgotten in the annals of Hockey because they couldn't come across the pond at the time.

Kudos to Czechoslovakia. A small country from Europe that took out the Soviet Union to get to the finals. As usual, Canada is loaded with great players.
Is there some kind of a deal whenever Orr gets the puck everything goes in slow motion, some are afraid to try to check him and he just goes around whoever he wants and passes right on the tape whenever he feels like it?

Dispute that lower population to grow talent they have won far more then their share...So lets forget your deductive BULLSHIT and deal with facts..Canada has been recognized as one of the leading sport hosting nations in the world for the 7th year in a row. In the just-released GSI Nations and Cities Index...and to host they have to be competitive...Global sports ranks Canada 10th in the world in sports domination and competitiveness of all countries and the top 9 ahead of her have much much larger populations...but PLEASE DON'T LET FACTS AND THE TRUTH GET IN YOUR WAY !!!!
Because you don't know the popularity of hockey in other countries and you can't compare it.
For example, these players were amateurs and that is why Kanda refused to play with amateurs for many years. They underestimated them.
Обе команды лучшие вовсе времена,особенно сборная канады
Checkoslovakia had the best team also!
I remember watching this game.
The last chance to watch Orr.
The game wasn't that close...Canada scored 3 goals in a row at the end.
Imagine if this group could of practiced together.
Lafleur, Hull, Perreault, Dionne Espo, Orr, Robinson and the Montreal 3.
P
Bobby Orr at 60 percent is better then 80 percent of the players in the 76 Canada cup at 100 percent
Curious to see what would happen if:
* Bernie Parent had been healthy and didn’t get injured in 1975 pre-season.
* Soviet Union sent their best team instead of getting embroiled in politics.
* Winning goal was Bobby Clarke and Bobby Orr assisting on goal by Bobby Hull.
The end of an era. A entire team of Hall of Famers. Orr and Hull at advanced ages, yet could beat the best. Sittler's goal was picture perfect. The Forum gone. Doucette gone.
2:29:16 The Class shown by the Montreal and Toronto fans in this tournament was awesome.
OLD TIME HOCKEY!!!!
Orr was on one Knee at this point and was still one of the best players on the ice
I want World cup or Olympic games with NHL players..
I want Chechislovakia back- why they separate- perfect Love Birds!!!
@@Soundnectar Was not fair of the slovak and czech politics. They violated the constitution, there was no referendum.
Potvin was by far the MVP of this series and it was'nt close. Orr was given a gift.
I never gave it any thought before, but, team Canada's pants should have been red.
Team USA tied them 4-4 in the '76 Canada Cup, beat them in the '72 Olympics and beat them in the '80 Olympics. Please explain how anyone can consider Czechoslovakia "great". Between '72-80 the Czech's were 1-2-1 against the US.
KMK7355 ... but they were world champions beating the Soviet Union in doing so.
@@KMK7355
Czechoslovakia tied Canada in the SS72 and beat Canada in the SS74
Don’t forget that Canada all-stars were thrown together for the tournament.
Ahhhh ...no deal buddy!!...Orr officially retired at the end of the 1978 season after having had over a dozen knee surgeries and was skating bone on bone given that barbaric surgery days ....This was a very slow Orr still crafty but basically two seasons well past from playing anything close to what he was....he would only play another 26 NHL games after this ...His last full season being 74-75 when he scored 46 goal and 86 assists for 135 points...sorry and sad you mist all the greatness...Rick
Bobby Clarke getting a fur hat... priceless!!! Lol.
Rogie gets a sh$tbox station wagon and goes ballistic .... you’ll never see that today. Every goalie today owns a Porsche Lol.
Dominik Hasek is the greatest Czech goalie of all time. He was amazing. Maybe the greatest goalie ever! Definitely Top 5 goalie in the world.
somewhere, in a damp, dank, Czech basement, sits a long forgotten Bobby Orr 1976 Canada cup game worn sweater..
How tall was Vachon anyways, he seems quite small standing in the net there. With those goalie equipment back then even the goal looks huge. In modern hockey they should do something against the overgrown goaltender pads and whatnot.
5 foot 8 :)
Thanks a bunch :)
Vachon looks like a peewee player; he’s tiny!
Look at 1:11:35. Vashon looks like Larry Robinson’s 9-year-old kid.
I thought he was 4' 11".
so classic wow
I take requests
+brandon rowsell: I would love to see that Canada v CSSR game 1. Yes, Canada lost, but it was a terrific nail-biter. When Roget Duceppe sang the CSSR anthem...that brought down the house.
Ronald Runeric ill upload that one soon for u
+brandon rowsell: Wow! Thanks; actually, I didn't even think I was likely to get a reply.
@@ronaldruneric4804, in the prelim round robin vs CZECHSLOVAKS?
In the Final, Canada beat the Czechoslovaks 6-0 in game one.
I don't remember why Brad Park wasn't on the ice. Anyone know?
He was chosen but injured.
I WISHD ID HAD OLD CSSR OR CANADA JERSEY
HULL HULL HULL HULL HULL HULL !
Lauhable penalty call on Czech at start of game. Leach was only guy who should have been calked, brutal high stick.
To hear that, "Welcome back to the Montreal Forum..." Brings back such magnificent memories.
SITTLER SITTLER SITTLER SITTLER SITTLER
The body loses lots of heat through an unhelmeted head. Cooler means less perspiration; less hot means a player's energy is preserved.

I scored the winning goal and all I got was an eskimo carving.
2:35:50 If you want to beat Rogie Vachon, don't shoot on the glove side!
the was was orrs team he played super smart
oooohhhhhyes
total class in the 1970,s
The trip on Bobby Orr was clearly a penalty.
