First, thanks alot excellent vid! I was about to go buy one, since i saw so much about the haptic feedback and that excited me. if they do make it available on PC games ill go right ahead and get one. For now we shall wait!
Well yeah you cant really get a good judgement of the console because we haven't seen it at its full potential and no one has shown extensive gameplay.
I kinda hope Sony puts some effort into supporting the Controller on PC so developers can use the new Triggers & Haptic feedback properly... But I dont think they will to be honest...
yeah... also it's counterproductive because Sony is now releasing some of their exclusive titles on PC and i expect some of the PS5 library to come too like Horizon 2 or Demon's souls.
If only devs stopped using XInput for controllers that is included with DirectX and something else, like SDL2's Input handling or Steam Input. By default anything that isn't part of Microsoft's product it will use the old DirectInput and since majority of devs use XInput, any controller that isn't Xbox ones will not work.
@Иосиф Виссарионович Сталин For starters, SDL2 contains basic stuff for making a software that can be expanded further. SDL2's input handling from what i gather handles the keyboard, mouse, joystick etc. But the real deal here is that when it comes to gamepads it supports any controller while following the Xbox's button layout. If you run a game that uses SDL2 with Dualshock 4 plugged in, it will immediately work. Whereas with a game that uses XInput, it'll absolutely refuse to work at all. If a specific gamepad does not work in SDL2, you can actually configure it on your own and use its profile (or even better, send the profile to the SDL2 devs themselves so in next release it'll be immediately ready)

It's cool to see people realizing that gyro is incredibly useful but unfortunately this controller still has the dual thumbsticks whereas a SC has a proper trackpad surface (oriented in a way that the thumbs can be properly used with it). The latter is way better for any game where flicking and quick viewport changes are the norm (i.e. any 1st person game). Aiming can be done with gyro on either.

lol it might well work perfectly, but modern controllers are much better, especially the duelsense once supported on PC, and of course already on the PS5. I still have an original, like new PlayStation controller, before they even introduced the DS1 with analogue sticks.
Thank you for this video. I finally got my DualSense working on Steam thanks to you. I’m not into Politics, but there’s a game called Super Bernie Bros on Steam. Free to play and the DualSense rumbles at the start. It plays a song using vibration, it’s soo cool. Have you found any other games that support its haptics?
ArvG19 Sadly, not every game supports it, and it won’t work if you’re using headphones. It just plays the audio throught the haptics on the DualSense. I was playing GTA and I could feel the car sound coming through it. Just wish it was better supported since so many people could not get a PS5.
Great vid idea, I havent seen anyone tackle the PS5 controller on PC yet. @Boomstick Gaming I have a question tho, why are we giving so much importance to gimmick features like haptic. I see every outlet praising this like the new sliced bread, yet everyone I know turns vibration off on their controller. I would love to hear your take on this, thank you.
If you add Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games launcher by clicking "add non steam game to library" under the Game tab on Steam, it will allow you to use the PS5 Controller in any game.
Pretty disappointing that the DualSense didn't launch with native PC support considering the newer DualShock 4's work right out of the box. Either way, glad to hear it's at least somewhat of an upgrade in terms of quality/precision.
Hey man good review, only one thing I didn't hear you confirm and I would like to get 100% confirmation from someone as clear as you: is there ANY vibration on PC with the DualSense or is it 0 vibration because of the haptic feedback system being different and unsupported?
It isn't 0 vibration (just like if you use a dualshock 3 or 4), the controller will vibrate but pc games don't support the newer, more precise vibrations that the dualsense is capable of, or not yet at least. So yeah, your controller will vibrate just as any other controller that has a rumble pack would.
I got the PS5 controller mainly for Steam. It currently does not rumble at all, so no vibrations (even if you set it up as both PS4 or Generic Gamepad controller type through Steam). Most likely it will have the basic support that the PS4 controller got, just need to wait for drivers from Sony & Steam. I hope but am highly skeptical that the PS5 controller will get full DualSense functionality for PC gaming, whether via Steam or not.
Although this isn't a how to use PS5 on PC....this totally worked for me. Even playstation's own website says PS5 on PC plays via wired, so I was on the fence. I bought a PS5 yesterday to test it and followed the setup process and it works! I play Fifa 23 on EA Play via Steam; now I don't have to always have the controller connected to play
I was waiting for a video like this!! Does it have basic rumble at this point or no rumble at all? Also, does it work with non-steam games that launch using big picture mode?
Agreed. At the moment I am questioning my purchase but if proper support rolls in I will enjoy it. Likewise I am hoping the adaptive triggers will have functionality in games that utilize the triggers on ps5, for instance when the next horizon game releases for PC
Interesting to hear you think the dpad feels more precise than dualshock. Could you try it on a fighting game? It looks so shallow & I've heard it described as "mushy", I'm worried it won't be good for fighters. Would be very interested in a test for that genre.
@@WheeledHamster That's what I've been hearing. Seems just from what I've heard they really dropped the ball & are trying to hype up the useless haptic & audio features to cover for these cheap buttons & dpad that are probably gonna wear out quick. I've had nothing but problems with PS controllers, not expecting anything better this time around.
about the analog sticks part at 2:33: AFAIK the Dualsense uses the same analog mechanism from the DS4 controller. It's the same part, but with a different thumb stick, so theoretically the precision should be the same
I play PC games with PS4 controller and i didn't noticed any big difference in feelings when i tried the PS5 one... The sticks are both very accurate, same for the triggers, i dont use much the d pad so i didn't noticed any difference there, but the vibration is deeper in the PS4 one... The dual sense isn't supported in PC games, so in my opinion isn't worth it switching to the PS5 one for PC gaming if you already have the PS4 one
If you add a non Steam game to Steam, and launch the game from Steam it should work. Was able to do this with Watch Dogs Legion from the Ubisoft store.
I dont recommend to get one if you want the full support (rumble and other features) or just wait for a good thirdparty software like DS4Windows. The new Xbox controller is the better option for PC.
Randomly clicked on this video. Very cool game collection, I did not know most of them but I'll definitely check out a few. Nice controller review as well.
I finally got the controller today! and yes it works just fine on steam (even with BT) now I wonder if there is ANY game on steam that supports the controller main features... like the adaptive trigger, motions, etc.
that this what I wanna know two. I mean I have PS4 controller and Xbox Series S and Xbox One controller. If the PS5 Controller main features doesnt work its worthless for me.
I'm sticking with PC for now. But I'm eager to see what the dualsense can do on PC if and when it gets drivers, I love the PS4 controller and I use their official wireless dongle.
The DS4 is my fave controller, not sure if the dualsense is going to be good YET maybe wait till full functions come out. DS4windows app is useful for non steam games but steam running will automatically hijack the controller port.
Why?like even if u play with a dualsense the games gonna show xbox buttons right? Like instead of triangle square circle and cross of ps it shows XYAB of xbox
@@kay94 lol yeah I'm past my prime, but I just miss my 360 controller. Why you think they made an elite controller. They know the x one's controller wasn't great.
I absolutely love the controller. I just want rumble and the other cool features to work on Windows. I'm optimistic Sony will release official drivers for it on PC.
@@Laughingcoyote1213 I guess they will and pc gamers are already doing stuff for better pc support. So I hope we get an even better experience in the future.
@SKEKMAL Yeah it will likely be a few months till things like haptics are supported in any games. Plus old game will never support it just like PS4 games on PS5.
I've heard a lot of good things about the controller's form factor and I don't plan to buy a PS5 personally so I'll be on Gamepass with a Dualsense controller just to troll the Xbots.
Well on PC controller support is a per game basis, it depends on the dev. Some games only work with an Xbox controller and require 3rd party software in order to work with a PS4 controller (mostly older games and Microsoft games). Games on battlenet will entirely depend on the game (like activision for COD) the controller support is in the game itself not the battlenet launcher. Same goes for epic. Steam is the only one that offers controller support through the launcher itself.
Man, I wish I can get a PS5 this year but unfortunately due to "reasons" its like 1.5k so not getting it yet. Have you used a 8bitdo Pro controller? How does that feel with the PS5 controller? I used to prefer my PS4 controller but I much prefer the 8bitdo Pro nowadays. It felt spacious (if that makes sense)
The only thing I like from consoles are their controllers , beyond that Idc consoles at all, having to pay monthly subscription to use online services :l
Recently sold my PS4 and I have no plans to buy a PS5 as tempting as Demon's Souls RE or the possible SH & MGS exclusives may be, but that controller man, it's a must buy but for PC Gaming. Congrats to Sony for making the best Controller in the market without question!.
Hey Alex. You mentioned your PC to TV setup. I've always ran with both consoles instead of a PC because of the price difference. Now that we are getting multiple versions of each console in a single generation (Xbox had 3 and PS had 2 last generation), that price gap between consoles and PC has dropped considerably. I'm dropping xbox this gen for a pc since it has access to those games. I'm planning my new game room now and am curious to know your setup. I'm a couch gamer that will be playing most games on my TV but will still jump to the pc for some games, random editing and miscellaneous other things. Any feedback you could provide would be helpful. And, as always, thanks for your honest opinions on all things gaming.
The best purchase I have ever made for my setup, was this year. If you can afford a 4k 120hz TV (real 120hz, watch out for fake cheap ones) you will never never want to go back after PC gaming on a TV at that fluidity. So yea, 4k 120hz TV is the ultimate thing you need if you play action oriented games and want to chill on a couch.
The price gap between PC and console hasn't gotten smaller... it's reversed. You used to be able to build a PC with better specs than a console for the same price as the console itself, but now you can't. PS5 has 2080ti graphics(comparably) and tech that hasn't yet released on PC. It takes more than a grand to build something with similar specs as the PS5. For the first time in history consoles are getting things before PC, it's kinda crazy.
@@XiaolinDraconis The gap is less than it used to be when one console lasted 8 years. Now the expectation is to buy at least 2 consoles for each brand in that same time frame to stay up to date. Meaning, a PS5 and a PS5 Pro and an XBox Series X and an XBox Series X Pro (or whatever they call it). Yes, there's value in trading/selling the consoles but still an upcharge (and hastle). This assumes both consoles only have one upgraded version. Last generation, one console brand had 2 upgrades. This doesn't account for the memory. These consoles will require $200-$250 per TB of SSD storage after you download about 8 games and save some clips or whatever. If I could play PS exclusives on PC (without waiting 3 years), I'd drop Playstation, too. I think, over the next 7-8 years (typical console generation) , both console brands with upgrades and memory will be damn close to the cost of a similarly performing PC but without all the customization, PC games, household utility and storage capacity.
@@XiaolinDraconis the ps5 is nowhere near a 2080ti, it is comparable to a 6600 AMD when considering raw computing power. It manages to get more performance thanks to upscaling and optimization but since this techniques are also available on pc thanks to DLSS and FSR the difference is still big.
I'm surprised you don't like the xbox one pad for 2d stuff, its what I use - specifically because I think it feels great, currently playing through the messenger with it. I also use it for fighting games (Dragonball FighterZ / Tekken 7 / Soul Calibur 6 / MK11) and find it fantastic for clean inputs, where they really matter. Its all very subjective - but im just a lil surprised :)
Yeah, fair play - i'm not knocking it tbh, used playstation pads myself from the big gray box onwards, but I just took a chance on an xbox one pad to use on my PC and was surprised how good the d-pad felt. I did kinda stop using controllers at all for about 8 or so years when I was purely KB&M for stuff, so maybe I lost some muscle memory preference lol.
fyi to everyone, DS4 Windows makes the ps5 controller work as an xbox controller so it can be used on any game which supports xbox which is most games. Just make sure you get Version 2.1.17 and not the older discontinued one
Unfortunately, it's likely that the defining features of the DualSense won't receive any official support on Windows from Sony. I don't see any developer adding support for the additive triggers and haptics for any version of a game that isn't on Sony's own platform.
Maybe Microsoft will release their own "version" of this tech (if the gimmick becomes popular, like what happened with the Wii), that could be way more promising for PC users compared to Sony
The thing I liked about the Ps5 controller on Ps5 was the hair trigger feedback! It was unlike anything I’ve felt before on a controller. If you’re saying it’s no different than PS4 on PC, I’m assuming it doesn’t have that on PC. That sucks.
My question is: Is the vibration transferred to the dualsense at some form of vibration? Or it doesn't have it AT ALL? No ones answer this question anywhere...

Hey man good review, only one thing I didn't hear you confirm and I would like to get 100% confirmation from someone as clear as you:
is there ANY vibration on PC with the DualSense or is it 0 vibration because of the haptic feedback system being different and unsupported?
It isn't 0 vibration (just like if you use a dualshock 3 or 4), the controller will vibrate but pc games don't support the newer, more precise vibrations that the dualsense is capable of, or not yet at least. So yeah, your controller will vibrate just as any other controller that has a rumble pack would.
Wrong, the controller will not vibrate at all
I got the PS5 controller mainly for Steam.
When the controller has more stock than the console itself.
that skater XL line was so buttery
I was waiting for a video like this!! Does it have basic rumble at this point or no rumble at all? Also, does it work with non-steam games that launch using big picture mode?
The rumble was acting "odd" with this setup so I just turned it off.
Good to see they can be used already. Hoping official support is rolled out quickly
Hopefully actual support comes soon so I can use the gyroscope.
Agreed. At the moment I am questioning my purchase but if proper support rolls in I will enjoy it. Likewise I am hoping the adaptive triggers will have functionality in games that utilize the triggers on ps5, for instance when the next horizon game releases for PC
Did they add it?
Yes haptics work for few games that support it. Just got deathloop went out and got ps5 controller and omg first time user. I am a huge fan.
Interesting to hear you think the dpad feels more precise than dualshock. Could you try it on a fighting game? It looks so shallow & I've heard it described as "mushy", I'm worried it won't be good for fighters. Would be very interested in a test for that genre.
I agree with this
It feels smaller and very spongy, doesn't feel tactile at all, you can see the plastic piece wiggle around
@@10-OSwords "useless"
Shows how much you don't know.
ive only heard great things about the dpad and controller in general. havent heard anyone consider them "mushy"
about the analog sticks part at 2:33: AFAIK the Dualsense uses the same analog mechanism from the DS4 controller.
Appreciate ya man :)
"new xbox controller"
@@rinnegansr5980 yes, the one with USB-C and better D-pad
ds4 windows came out with an update today that supports it. Haptic Feedback works as a subwoofer for the controller which is mind-blowing.
Randomly clicked on this video. Very cool game collection, I did not know most of them but I'll definitely check out a few. Nice controller review as well.
Thank you! For this informative, spoken in a normal voice, not over the top video! Thumps up!
For s split second at the end of the video I thought that you would bid us farewell und auf Wiedersehen 🌝
Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition
@@luanp6171 that game supports the controller's trigger feature?
I was thinking about buy a dualsense for my PC games, thanks for your video, you helped me.
Nice. I'm gonna grab one. Thx. Sticking with pc.
Does the vibration work for ps5 contollr on pc for all games wirelessly? Or do we need to play it wired for vibration/haptic feedbacck?
I'm sticking with PC for now. But I'm eager to see what the dualsense can do on PC if and when it gets drivers,
I love the PS4 controller and I use their official wireless dongle.
i sub 2 you because you introduced me to ziggurat 2... i love that game
The DS4 is my fave controller, not sure if the dualsense is going to be good YET maybe wait till full functions come out.
DS4windows app is useful for non steam games but steam running will automatically hijack the controller port.
People are saying the dual sense triggers/bumpers are too far apart, making the actions slower.
Why?like even if u play with a dualsense the games gonna show xbox buttons right?
Like instead of triangle square circle and cross of ps it shows XYAB of xbox
I'm switching to ps5 from xbox since day 1. The controller and exclusives did it for me
Thanks for this. I'm still using a 360 controller.
360 controller sticks feel better than xbox one controller sticks.
I used to be good at fps games now I can't hit anything.
@@kay94 lol yeah I'm past my prime, but I just miss my 360 controller. Why you think they made an elite controller. They know the x one's controller wasn't great.
Just the video I needed, cheers
I absolutely love the controller. I just want rumble and the other cool features to work on Windows. I'm optimistic Sony will release official drivers for it on PC.
I'm sorry to break your dreams but that will never happen you can do that stuff in playstation now
@@yosefelsawy5102 All this stuff works now on PC lol. Except for resistive triggers. You should never say never either lol.
@@Laughingcoyote1213 only playstation games work for those things but other games don't even support the controller
@@yosefelsawy5102 Yeah I know that. We also don't know if developers will add support for the cool features of the controller in the future on PC.
@@Laughingcoyote1213 I guess they will and pc gamers are already doing stuff for better pc support.
So I hope we get an even better experience in the future.
I can’t wait to get one for my pc hopefully it has all the features like haptic feedback
@SKEKMAL Yeah it will likely be a few months till things like haptics are supported in any games. Plus old game will never support it just like PS4 games on PS5.
@SKEKMAL forget about the vibrations, does ps5 controller work on any game?
I've heard a lot of good things about the controller's form factor and I don't plan to buy a PS5 personally so I'll be on Gamepass with a Dualsense controller just to troll the Xbots.
Sucks to suck dude
Ps5 has the best games and the adaptive triggers
@@ItsdaFittySimp You do realise that means he's playing on PC right?
@@ItsdaFittySimp uhhh
Well on PC controller support is a per game basis, it depends on the dev. Some games only work with an Xbox controller and require 3rd party software in order to work with a PS4 controller (mostly older games and Microsoft games).
Games on battlenet will entirely depend on the game (like activision for COD) the controller support is in the game itself not the battlenet launcher. Same goes for epic.
Steam is the only one that offers controller support through the launcher itself.
@@kitty.miracle what are you talking about
I'll stick to PC gaming. Is the PS5 controller worth buying if I already have a PS4 controller?
Only if you want it for Steam games. I would wait if you want full compatibility.
thnx, all I needed to know as a PC Mk11 player =) buying one now to replace my gud old Ps2 controller
It works with a PS3 trust me
sus
lol
Thankyou for making this video. I too love the ps4 controller for pc so this was great
Man, I wish I can get a PS5 this year but unfortunately due to "reasons" its like 1.5k so not getting it yet.
Have you used a 8bitdo Pro controller? How does that feel with the PS5 controller? I used to prefer my PS4 controller but I much prefer the 8bitdo Pro nowadays. It felt spacious (if that makes sense)
Very informative thanks alex
Welcome!
I'm sticking with PC and never buying consoles again
Lol exactly even these "next gen" consoles are already garbage. 120hz isn't supported on every game. What a joke 🤣
I'm with you bro. Nobody can realistically move from PC back to console. Why go from being a free man to being bound in shackles (metaphorically)?
Never mind Desktop Gaming, even last gen gaming laptops destroy consoles 🤣
The only thing I like from consoles are their controllers , beyond that Idc consoles at all, having to pay monthly subscription to use online services :l
@@juan_1oo1o47 And all these controllers work on PC so what need are there for consoles? Exclusives are the only thing making consoles relevant tbh.
@@BoomstickGaming 10-4 man. Much appreciated 🙏
Knowing how many pc games had a responsive controller if you played with one you bet I'm getting this
I use the Nintendo switch pro controller
It is so great! But I'm buying a ps5 controller soon for my pc.
Nintendo Switch Pro controller is so underrated.
I'm just going to get all of them I was able to get an Xbox series X but I was unfortunately unable to get a PlayStation 5.
I'm sticking with PC because all the money I would have spent on next went to building my computer and don't regret it. Except Demon's Souls...
dont worry DS is coming on sonys own launcher
Is it really?? I haven’t heard anything about this!! That’s so awesome!! Imagine demons souls on a 3080 😍😍 I’m glad more people will get to play it!!!
You can use the gyro for pretty good aiming in FPS games, btw
I'm surprised you don't like the xbox one pad for 2d stuff, its what I use - specifically because I think it feels great, currently playing through the messenger with it. I also use it for fighting games (Dragonball FighterZ / Tekken 7 / Soul Calibur 6 / MK11) and find it fantastic for clean inputs, where they really matter. Its all very subjective - but im just a lil surprised :)
People usually prefer the d-pad position on Dualshock controllers so I am not surprised. It is basically in the same position since SNES controller.
I think Steam will support it entirely (like the dualshock 4)
I think they'll eventually do that if devs noticed that there many Dualsense users.
Maybe Microsoft will release their own "version" of this tech (if the gimmick becomes popular, like what happened with the Wii), that could be way more promising for PC users compared to Sony
Should do an updated video now that it’s supported on pc with wired usb, and games like Returnal have full dual sense features.
All I wanna know is if you can get the gyroscope working as a mouse
6 months later, but yes, you can
Good review! Do you know when it will have full support for the PC? I might get it if I know the haptic feedback works on PC
ziggurat 2 review soon? :)
When it out of EA perhaps
@@BoomstickGaming Vigil : the longest night also looks very interesting from the games you show on this video
I’m using it on steam for fallen order, no vibration here. I think it’s a first party thing, if Sony releases official drivers for it maybe we will get it. I don’t like it too much anyways.
I used the controller on pes21.. There's a haptick feedback but it's very slight and normal on players hard interact.. I mean it's not adaptive or that much different from ds4.. I'm thinking to return it for an Xbox controller
@@s.bamahfoodh Don’t. Xbox controllers are terrible in general. I’ve had my Xbox one since it came out and I’ve gone through four controllers. All of them have had stick drift issues and eventually stopped working outright
@@cancerousnut7767
Oh really!!.. Sorry to hear that.. But I really don't want the hussle of using third party apps like ds4.. Many times I'll have driver error and I'll have to restart my pc which will close anything I'm working on..
But yes my ds4 controller I have it over 2 years now and it's like new.. Sure this one will be durable too
@@s.bamahfoodh Yeah Sony definitely knows how to make controllers durable and long lasting. But the main thing is that Xbox controllers are like you said, first party, and supported straight through bluetooth
I feel like I stepped over the ps5 console all together by just grabbing the controller for my pc gaming lol 😅 works perfectly 🙏🏾
So the controller doesn't even vibrate on PC unless its a steam game?
Unfortunately it uses a new OS to the DS4 controller so DS4 supported games don't support the dual sense controller.
I sold my ps4 recently and I'm really missing the PS4 controller for PC games. Using the PS3 controller just feels subpar after getting used to the PS4 controller.
Hopefully PS5 controller will get more PC support love with native buttons prompts
