Hey guys. I wanna clarify a few things about the situation between me and adapt: I wrote Pieter a letter to say I had thoughts on leaving because I had a few things that bothered me. At the beginning we were close but towards the end the strong family bond kind of faded. We didnt talk that much anymore and i felt like we wanted to move in different directions in the skating scene, and thats exactly why I wanted to have a talk with Pieter. So I wrote him a letter and said I wanted to talk, so I wasnt gonna leave 100% at that point(Roces asked me to ride for them at that point but I didn’t say no/yes yet). After a crazy response threating me and my two best friends I told him I didnt wanna talk anymore and he made my decision to leave way easier. I think one of the main problems is that Pieter doesn’t get that when people work together you both do something for eachother and that if a person works for you, he/she/they deserves to be payed. It’s weird he says he gave me so much all the time like he’s some kind of hero (I’m thankful for all the things he did ofcourse) but I also skated(worked) for him so it would be nice if he would also be grateful for the things I and other people did for adapt. Like how he gets mad that I wanted to talk about leaving AFTER I picked up MY money that I earned by WORKING for him. I think we both did eachother favors, like how it’s suposed to be when you work together in a company. Again, we could have talked about things like this beceause we both lagged somethings in the relationship, but if someones first reaction is exploding and aggressively treatening you , it only proves a point that there’s not much space for talking anymore. I knew Pieter can get angry and a lot of people who left are not in a good relationship with adapt anymore(so it kind of feels like “family” or enemy). So I chose to write him when he was gone so we both had some time/space to think about it and maybe get a reasonable talk about me thinking about leaving. I’m sorry that his mother passed away but he never told me about that, so I wasnt aware of that at that moment. I think its funny that he’s using the story about me stealing that hat when I was a kid as some kind of proving point. I agree that was a stupid move of me haha. But in the end this is again some kind of way of him to prove that he’s the hero in the game. Because some recent things that happend between two dutch guys and adapt I felt like people need to know about how Pieter treated me and decided to mention it in my podcast. Also to let other people know before they got stuck in a situation like this and are afraid to leave. I hope these words clarify the situation a bit and that Pieter maybe can think twice before he acts this aggressive and angry way again before thinking things trough, and that maybe he can see that everyone else but him is not always wrong all the time. Honestly, I don't think It was a good idea for either party to say anything public. If what you said was true, you should have got legal advice at the time. Now that you went public, if that brand/company gets backlash for what you said, they could sue you. I just hope everyone just moves on.
There are better ways to quit but that’s no excuse for Adapt. Nothing in his response really made it okay. A lot of us were teenagers who would have acted the same way but for a skate company to react personally and make violent threats shouldn’t be accepted.
No, there isn't a better or a worse way to quit. Quitting is inherently bad for an employer. So you do it whichever way you can. Levi was not in the wrong for any of it.
Pieter seems like a bad businessman he doesn’t have a contract with his teenage rider and when he leaves he threatens to break his legs i wouldn’t ever buy an adapt skate
I am about to enter my 40's and if I have learnt something is to run away every time a business/company says, "we are a family here", or something along those lines. Any job relationship is a two-way stream, and that is often "forgotten" for the same side on those relationships. That letter basically implies that what Levi said it was real. You do yourself and your brand a disservice if after the years you say you would do it again. Don't burn bridges kid...let me serve as example. 🤔

What you said from 5:12 is exactly what I was thinking: he makes it sound like he gifted things to Levi when it was actually a partnership they both benefitted from. If he hadn't have been profiting off of Levi's work then he probably wouldn't have had such a strong reaction to him quitting.

I have been telling people the guys at Adapt are too high on their own farts for years. Not to mention they handle any customer grievances like autistic jerks. I had a conversation with Pieter at the very beginning of the brand about improvements that could be made to the skates after my friend had ordered the Ben Harmanus skates and absolutely wrecked them in a matter of like 2 months. The conversation basically equated to them telling me that my friend must have been skating them wrong because their design was brilliantly thought out, and any ideas I suggested they had already thought of and ruled out. Jump to a year or so later and Improvements to the shell floor plus the 6 mounts appear then eventually the strap protectors (all sugestions I willingly offered in their first year and was told did not work for the skate). I Love symetrics frames and have skated them for years but I make sure every pair I buy is second hand because I dont like the idea of suporting those guys.

yup the first adapts hard the rough part of the velcro that holds the tongue in place touching your skin and socks. my left skate was fucked. in order to avoid the rough part of the velcro, I had to have my tongue completely sideways towards the outside. they stitched the velcro off centered on that one boot. it cut through my sock, jeans, and skin. my left skate was covered in blood. was told by them to fix it myself with an exacto knife or pay to ship it back to be fixed. this is after I waited 6 ish weeks a d paid $540 ish for boot only. long story short I said fuck that. went to cults then them skates. don't skate adapts cause stone cold said so!
I'm not here to take sides or defend anything that was said. The Dutch are quit extreme in the way they speak to each other so I'm not shocked or upset in the slightest. They cancer, typhus and other diseases when cursing at each other, a threat of broken legs is bad but not even the worst thing you could say to someone in their language. I personally feel the linguistic context has been missed and I only think this because of the amount of time I've been in the Netherlands and interacting with the people.
Interesting - I think the Uk probable Great Britain on the whole are far more extreme than most countries when it’s comes to severity of language. Saying this, it’s still not the one for an adult to threaten a teenager - if the allegation are true

I think Brandon sees himself more as a reporter giving unbiased info while tom gives his biased opinion. We need both types of people.

if he has a temper grow some chutzpah and stand up to them. bullies i find,( being small and always the new kid ) dont like people who stand up to them that is the only way to stop a bully to stand up and take the blows if they come. win or lose they will either respect fear or like u but you wont have to deal with thier projections any more
So true. I had to deal with a weird situation. He initiated. I told em jump. Now he begs for forgiveness. You really have to walk a fine line and stand your ground.
