  • So the day has come. As Danwood promised at 7.00 am on Monday morning the first truck from Poland arrived. The build was magnificent thing to watch- "a ballet in hard hats". And by 5.30 pm on Tuesday the full house structure was up. A house built in 2 days, and she is beautiful. See how they did it, and marvel at the simplicity of it all.

    Hello Harry, thank you so much for posting your self build journey with Dan Wood. It has been a fantastic resource for us and has helped us immensely in our decision to go with a Dan Wood house too. We are in Norfolk too and would be really grateful if we could visit to see your house and pick your brains!

    It's good that you spoke up, finally! I was already beginning to worry if there would be a delay due to the Danwood plant's location near the eastern border. Good to see the smile on your face. And I'm waiting for more videos. I have managed to throw only one so far, but I will do some more datailed one in better quality... one day :)

    Congrats on the house! I have followed your build journey and happy to see it all come together for you.
    One thing I haven't seen addressed anywhere else concerning Dan Wood's houses is the sound/noise insulation between rooms. Would you mind commenting on how sound proof the rooms are? Can I hear a conversation in the next room through the wall or through the floors as in popular UK developer houses?

    • @myselfbuildjourney1219
      @myselfbuildjourney1219  2 года назад +1

      Thank you!
      I will let you know about sound insulation once the house is finished. However, I have no worries that it will be good. One thing that surprised me is that they also concrete/skree the top floor too, so that will eliminate any noise between the floors, and no creaking etc.

    • @EmilyRyall
      @EmilyRyall 2 года назад +1

      We've just had our house finished and the air and sound quality is excellent. The overall build quality is much higher than most UK house developers - something our building control officer commented on when he inspected.

    Hello Harry! Thank you for your video journey. We have been watching with excitement! I was wondering if you or anyone else following had a recommendation for an architect to support us through planning? We are in Wiltshire but not totally limited to professionals in this region. We heard that many are reluctant because of the limited amount of design needed. So any pointers from the Dan-Wood community would be much appreciated! Thanks!

    • @EmilyRyall
      @EmilyRyall 2 года назад

      You probably don't need an architect but an architectural assistant would do. We were lucky that my dad's a retired architect but he found the Danwood process really confusing as it is so different to the normal UK process. However he was amazing in getting all the planning stuff done for us which Danwood don't help with at all.

    Dear Harry, thank you for your videos! We have to choose an off-site house manufacturer for our small housing co-operative - a group of people building homes for themselves (custom build) close to London. We initially thought that Scotframe could be an option, but from your video, I found that you chose an overseas supplier (Danwood). I would assume that you checked all the local alternatives but still preferred a Polish producer. Did you find it more cost-effective?

      Hi Slav
      Thanks for watching.
      Yes..highly recommend Danwood...really good in price comparison to UK companies and much more transparent with actual costs which I found hard to find in the UK
      Good luck!

      So I found the groundwork team to do my foundations through recommendations from my Danwood agents as they know the teams who know how to build their specific slab foundations the their specifications.

      @@myselfbuildjourney1219 Hi, how long was that from "delivery" initial build to completion to live in it?? Any unexpected costs along the way? Considering Danwood bit a bit scared by potentially epic amounts of admin to make it all happen! Thanks in advance.

    • @harryvangorkum7782
      @harryvangorkum7782 Год назад

      @@emilyb5557 Hi Emily, The time from delivery to move in varies ( some are done ins 6 weeks (!), but on average they reckon it will take 8-10 weeks. There are no unexpected costs as far as Danwood goes. The price they quote at the start of the project ( when you sign the contract) is the price you pay, unless you make changes along the way of course.
