I made this today. It was delicious! And super easy and fast! I used a bag of frozen mixed veggie and Zucchini instead of dried veggies and artichoke, white rice, lentils, black eyed peas, barley, tomato sauce penne, garlic powder, nutritional yeast and veggie broth for 15 minutes, natural release. Superb!
I don't know why I waited so long to try this, but I did tonight. It's a winner! And it's going to be a staple in my kitchen now. My version: 1/2 cup each of: brown lentils red lentils yellow split peas green split peas quinoa wild rice generous garlic powder very generous Costco no salt seasoning generous red pepper flakes generous potassium salt substitute very generous nutritional yeast I didn't have the dried veggie mix, so i added, chopped: 4 stalks celery 3 carrots 1 large onion 22 minutes instant pot + 10 minutes natural release So good!!! No topping necessary. Thanks for the recipe. Will definitely make this again!
Thank you so much for this recipe!! I’m a teacher and today was my second day back for the new school year. I came home so exhausted and starving. This literally took me 10 minutes to throw in the instant pot, with no planning ahead, and it was so delicious and filling! It’s like Dal curry and congee fell into the IP together! Even better, I have leftovers for tomorrow and 2 servings to throw in the freezer for school lunches! Woohoo!!!
Thanks so much the Starch Blaster has been my go to meal for several months now. Because it is variable, it can have different flavors and I love it. Again thank you very much 😊
I just made this! I love it. I was a little skeptical but I loved the idea of it. We will be making this A LOT! Thank you! Update: Third week in a row making a starch blaster for food prep! Don’t delay, starch blaster today!!! 🤣🤣
I cook like this all the time but in a 1.5 quart slow cooker. Gotta love the dehydrated veg and legumes. You seem much happier these days. Thanks for another interesting video.
Thanks for concocting those delicious-sounding stews. Those one-bowl dinners make meal preparation and cleanup so much easier than dealing with several dishes, yet provides a robust variety of nutrients. BRAVO!
Love this so much and will have to show my daughter who ia WFPB but absolutely refuses to cook - even though she has an instant pot, food processor vitamix, etc!!! This is probably simple enough for her to tackle! Thanks, Dillon, for the demo and Reebs, for the formulator!! You guys make an awesome team!! :)
Trying my first starch blaster right now. In the pot now. Wild rice, lentils, and quinoa with broccoli and some "everything" spice mix that I got recently. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much for posting, this is awesome. Worth its weight in gold for sure, I never knew they sold dried veggie mixes like that and now I can't wait to try one. Just upgraded my instant pot too so should be sweeeeeet. Thank you thank you! PS, don't be afraid to wilt some spinach or kale in that bad boy when it's piping hot so you can get in on some leafy greens too!
OMG!! You are tooo good, love the cheat sheet idea. I cook similar to your dish all the time, all I do is make a little soupy, I can concur why it tastes so good. Only diff is I make it over the weekend and live by it through the week! Sherry
Made my first Starch Blaster last night and wow!!!!! I can't believe I haven't come across this before in 30+ years vegan and 10+ on starch solution type diet. I made mine a curry and just eyeballed it WYW style but man, I wish I had of paid more attention to the water amount as it turned out perfect!! Amazing. Definitely face stuffing worthy. I'm pretty sure various Starch Blasters are the only thing on the menu for the next 3-4 weeks :) Thank you for this. Everyone, we need to spread the word (and the video link)!!
I finally decided to make this today...wow!! This was so much more delicious than I thought it would turn out. I put green split peas, brown lentils, red lentils, black rice, soy curls and red lentil pasta with the dehydrated veggies, zucchini, red bell pepper, nooch and no-salt seasoning. Thanks for an amazing and easy recipe! Can't wait to try other variations!
That looks like such an intuitively simple and easy recipe to make...and yet I really needed that recipe! Thanks for making it, and thanks, Reebs, for the chart.
For pasta, I precook pasta, allow to cool and freeze. Then I can just scoop out what I want, place in hot water for just a few minutes before adding to soups, and other dishes. I don't have to do this, but it just works for me.
I just found your channel and have been binge watching your videos. You guys are hilarious! I’ve made starch blaster a few times now. My picky 7 year old actually likes it, which is huge! Thank you so much for sharing such great content👍🏻
My college-age son needs food that he can grab on the go. He loves this! I portion it into 2-cup containers, and he just eats it cold! 🤪He said it needs sauce or something, so this batch has bacon flavorings in it (soy sauce, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, and maple extract). Thanks for the video!
Hi Dillon and Reebs. I just want to thank you for sharing this. It’s my go-to every single week. I just want to let you know that it only took my 10 minutes and it came out perfectly. Just thought you’d like to know it can be done even quicker! Love you both!
Brilliant! I so need this! Spent pretty much all day in the kitchen making dishes for the up coming holiday, and I’m toast. Quick and easy ideas are very much appreciated by someone who wants minimal time with preparation. Thank you Dillon and Reebs!
Love love love these cooking ideas! I like to improvise when it comes to cooking I don’t like to strictly stick to the recipes. I love your cooking style and highly appreciate what you (Dillon and Reebs) have done for helping people stay healthy without been tied down to the kitchen! Love you guys!!!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
I literally cannot stop watching the intro to this video, it is so hilarious!!!! As I was running through the house yelling "starch blaster!", my husband naturally asked what I was doing. I showed him the intro and he was like "is he selling something?" But that is the hilarity of it, that it sounds like something gimmicky, like "fat blaster!" It's so perfect!!! I love the kick for emphasis! 🤣
I just made this for my 1st ever Pressure Cooker recipe. Thank you for sharing. I'm new to your channel. It was very nice but was more like a soup. Next time I wont put so much liquid in it. Great way to use leftovers too.
it’s been like a year or more I’ve been gone from RUclips I come back and you are still burning 🔥 your mouth to eat. I love that and glade you found a partner in life
Another week, another pot of Starch Blaster on my stove. A great addition has been your Fiesta Fire Blend, just enough heat with one tablespoon added in. Thanks , Dillon for this life changing recipe.
This was really delicious! The combination of all the spices gives it such a wonderful complex and unique flavor. I will definitely be making this again!
This is reminiscent of the classic Indian dish kichari. Rice, split mung dal, vegetables and a few spices cooked together into a porridge consistency. It's a daily staple meal for a lot of people.
I love, love, LOVE this video! hahaha! This is the first recipe of yours I have made and it is AMAZING! I've been eating SOS free for over a month now and am down 10 pounds!! I'm binge watching all the previous videos now that I am a member (and will be loooong after the free trial) and I've made a list of stuff to try. That index is SUPER handy. Anyway, just wanted to thank you again from your friendly, neighbourhood, dual citizen :)
Love this idea, Tried it today and had a curry flavour. . Have also tried doing it with recipes I like. Just throw it all in. Thank you for the copy of Starch Buster leaflet.
Just made this for the first time. Used 1/3 cup of each of the starches I chose. Added too much water. I am sure it will thicken as it cools. Can it be frozen. I am only one, and it made a lot. Tastes better than it looks haha, love your videos.
I stumbled across your channel today because I'm going plant based and #1 I love this instapot concept (convenence) and #2 absolutely hilarious and entertaining! Subscribed
The red lentils is a nice addition if you want it creamy, mushy or saucy (if not, leave it out)❣️ Such peasant food is lovely! So is a mix of different beans and sweet corn, I actially love to add some pineapple chunks too as well as whole wheat macaroni (or other small pasta). If you let one of the beans be a can of baked beans, you get a nice sauce from that. Add some worcestershire sauce, a good dash of black pepper and a little (or a lot) sriracha or sambal oelek (or a pinch or more of chili flakes) and you have a fabulous, cheap and very satisfying meal❗️ My first taste of such beans, I was served by a woman who grew up at a plantation in South Africa. She grew up on it, it was her favorite dish as a kid and still was when she was middle aged. She had it with just some melted butter and seasoning. I ended out finding my own version, the tomato sauce from the baked beans and some yoghurt (I usually use coconut yoghurt), coconut milk or something like that. Back when I wasn’t plant based, I would use a splash of cream or creme fraiche as well, whatever you have. Before she served me that «Childhood Bean Dish», I did NOT like beans at all! I tasted hers to be polite and ended out converted, LOL. Back on track, black pepper and some chili is just a must for it for me, even if I don’t do hot/spicy, I love it «warm», if you get my drift... It is sooo good! BTW, This is an occasion where soaking your pasta makes perfect sense, as doing so produces a very, very starchy soaking water, which you want to add to your sauce or broth for your final dish! The more starchy, the better, I guess. Starchy pasta water is gold for a yummy and creamy sauce! I mean, just some olive oil, black pepper, a pinch of pepper flakes and some pasta water, gives the most wonderful pasta sauce, so full of flavor! 😋 Good bless you❣️😊
I made a Starch Blaster permutation tonight and it was rated A+ by all 3 people (all vegan) of our household. Thanks. This will be a staple from now on. Realized I wasn't using my instant pot enough.
That is so amazing to hear! I am glad everyone enjoyed it (it's one of my favorites)! We also have quite a few Instant Pot recipes too if you want to get some more use!
I made a version of your starch blaster! More versions are going to be on the way and I'm sure they will each be wonderful and filling and a great way to batch cook so I don't spend every day in the kitchen.
Great!! Thank for this. I’ve been doing a “dump and bake” casserole with basically the same idea but it takes SO long to make-about an hour and 20 minutes if I use brown rice. This will be so much better!!
This recipe is great! I have been eating versions of it for the past month since you posted this video. Tasty, versatile, quick, filling - what more could I ask for? Thank you SO much
I let the other stuff cook, do some of a manual release but not too much to make a mess, it quickens the wait, then add the pasta and set pot for 3 minutes. it's already hot in there, so it takes quick time to build pressure.
@@WellYourWorld I'm looking forward to it!You've mentioned it in other videos, but I was unsure of the measurements. I know you're more of a "wing it" cook, however, I'm not the best cook and prefer a guideline if not a recipe to follow. This is great!

My version:
1/2 cup each of:
brown lentils
red lentils
yellow split peas
green split peas
quinoa
wild rice
generous garlic powder
very generous Costco no salt seasoning
generous red pepper flakes
generous potassium salt substitute
very generous nutritional yeast
I didn't have the dried veggie mix, so i added, chopped:
4 stalks celery
3 carrots
1 large onion
22 minutes instant pot + 10 minutes natural release
So good!!! No topping necessary.
Thanks for the recipe. Will definitely make this again!
I am glad you got around to making the Starch Blaster and that you loved it! Thanks for sharing your recipe Kevin!
Just made a 6qt of starch blaster. My husband and I love it. Lunches for our work week are DONE. 😄

😂😂😂 I don’t know how I missed this.. it’s genius.. and right up my alley! Thank youuu!
This is reminiscent of the classic Indian dish kichari. Rice, split mung dal, vegetables and a few spices cooked together into a porridge consistency. It's a daily staple meal for a lot of people.
I would LOVE to make kitchari with an IP, with this type of diet. Any ideas?
Finally made this tonight and I LOVE it. This is very innovative, Dylan. The PDF is amazing!
Always a good idea to have yummy go-tos at the ready! i do this with a kale salad- 4 ingredients, takes 5 minutes and is SO GOOD!

You’re so amazing
Love that! It looks like chili.
He’s so great
Thanks Dillion!
I cook pasta in the Instant pot all the time, it is never mushy. Cook pasta for 6 minutes then do a quick release. Perfect pasta...
Don’t delay, starch blast today. 😃

❤️❤️😘
Starch blaster 2.0! Thanks Dillon!
Very cool! 🙂🙂🙂
Dillon calls it peasant food. In my family we call it a poor man's meal. 😄 I have found that more often than not, a poor man's meal/ peasant food is usually really good and does not require a lot of fuss or prep to put it together. 😊
Well done SIR!!!
I need to get an instapot!
Haven't compared prices, lately, but they've already started going on sale. Watch the ads (Kohl's sent me a sale flier with them in it). Just be aware that most recipes out there are for the 6 quart size. Do research before, so you know which one is best for you. I love mine (got an 8 at, a bit of adjusting recipes). Good luck!
Have you ever done a breakfast type food starch blaster? I know Reebs doesn't do oatmeal. But any ideas?
This. Is. Genius!!!
Great share! Thank you. ✌🏼
Would you recommend this if I am in the beginning of weight loss journey?
Amazing 🤩 thanks 🙏🏻!!
I remember you using the dried mirepoix in another recipe - what was it?!
I did the "PC Max Fill" and I got a LOT of ... soup! Ut oh.
Ah! Less next time. Only takes a try or two to get your favorite mix right.
I bet you could pre-soak your wild rice etc to make it match the cooking time of the rest. I mean, if you know you’ll be doing it, toss it in the fridge in a jar? 😊
You and Reebs are so funny.
🤔 I may try curry or Garam Masala; my Italian version is very good. I wonder how chickpeas would work?
That would be delicious, definitely give it a try and let us know how it goes!
@@WellYourWorld it is very delicious I can even change it up with a little bit of peanut butter now & then!
I served it was pasta one night and oven chips the next night.
So fun and funny. This was hilarious!
Your videos keep getting better and better. Every time I laugh at loud...awesome 🤣
Doesn't pearl barley have the bran removed? Perhaps hulled/pot barley may be a better option :)
If I made a larger batch, could I freeze it? I want to make ahead and take camping.
