That was a fun video. I built a lot of muscle as a 10 year old kid pulling the starter cord on the various old snowmobiles I had over the years. I heard that Larson running and knew right away that must be a JLO Rockwell engine just by the sound. Had one in a 68 Moto-Ski. Had a SnowPrince with a Hirth engine. A Alouette with a Sachs engine. A 71 Skidoo Nordic with the 398 Rotex engine, a 68 Suoer Olympic with a swapped in 399 Koler engine. So much fun as kids just like yours riding around the farm, and down to the pond in the bush to play hockey. We lived in a Island growing up, it had a one mile causeway for cars and trucks, but we could ride our snow machines into town across the lake. I even rode my snowmobile to school sometimes. Thanks for bringing back memories. And remember, you got to lean to make them old snowmobiles turn, skis are just there to look good, lol
Oh, very cool! Our daughter hasn't quite figured out the leaning yet. We've had quite a few vintage sleds over the years that we should've kept, but as a newly married couple, they were what sold to pay the bills. We had a couple different scorpions, a John Deere trail fire, Polaris colt, Johnson Challenger.
Back when there was some diversity in companies building almost any product. They really need to stop allowing mergers and split up the mega corps so us consumers can have some choices like that again.
I'll never forget. We were on a vintage ride, and we were crossing a lake, and of course, Jen and I started racing. I didn't see that a truck had plowed a road out to a bunch of ice houses. I hit the edge of where he plowed, and I was airborne! Jen said she saw me go flying past with my legs spread out like wings and an oh crap face!
The old B will start better than the snowmobile! We had a kid that use to work for us on the farm. He would ride his ski do and put it in the barn to keep it warm. he was about 6 ft and one night it wouldn't start, so he held the throttle open and cranked it and it started but the throttle stuck- zoom, right out thru the barn yard, and crash, right into the stone wall! The funniest thing was he was chasing after it!
Man this video brings back a lot of great memories of when my grandfather was alive and all the time we spent when I was a kid riding and fixing and riding and fixing lol his old sleds! The old elan was my favorite he preferred the Motoski cause of the longer track for breaking trails and the nicest sled was the John Deere idk the model I just remember it was all black and fast! Great video thanks for the memories!!
I really wish I was old enough to pay attention a bit closer to the model and specs of the John Deere but I will look up liquifier to see if that’s the sled
Good old-fashioned fun! Great to see "mechanics helper" bring that old Larson back to life. There must have been 50 snowmobile manufacturers back then in the late 60's-early 70's.
Tks for sharing. Got to Love the older things. They was built to last. Not like some of the things today.. old sleds. Old Generators. And Yes.. John Dreeres. Huh Miss Jenn? Lol .
There's enough snow for sledding now... Now you almost need a heater house for it. My brother that lives up your way is going sledding up in the UP this week. He always does the week before Christmas. Merry Christmas to your family. Montgomery Ward generator?? That's kind of a blast from the past. It works though. That's a testament to old stuff like me. 😂
You can run 50:1 saw gas in your generator. The 2-cycle oil stabilizes the gas and provides some upper cylinder lubrication. I use it in all my seasonally used small engines. My backup power is a old 1200 rpm 2-71 Detroit gen-set salvaged from an old railroad reefer car that's mounted in the garage. Using the 2 way box on the yard pole I can power all the buildings with it using the overhead lines.
Hope you can get some footage from a vintage ride sometime. Merry Christmas all Trinity Dairy fans. Merry Christmas to Alan , Jen and all the little J’s Jessica , Justin , Jordan, Joshua and Jason. God bless you all and may we all Rejoice that Unto Mary Our Savior was Born.
That Ski Doo is a probably a '74- on the recoil start side of the machine, below the seat on the right hand side, by the foot stirrup, there will be an aluminum tag riveted on which is the model and serial number plate- if it is a 1974 340 it will be 3109 as the first four digits of the serial. There is another tag further back by the passenger grab handle that will have a manufacture date, that is going to be some time in the summer months of 1973. I have three '73's, all were made between June and August of '72. Nice to see and hear them out running!
My first snowmobile was a Johnson Ski Horse, then 2 years later I got an Artic Cat Panther. One thing you may have to do is replace the wear rods on the skis so you can turn better. You can even add a layer of welding to the old rod, that is what I used to do.
Our '69 Polaris Colt had that 372 JLO engine, it vibrated so much that we had to often tighten bolts for carb etc... it had electric start that rarely worked. Your Larson has more style 😎
Memories!! spent many hours on sleds in the 70s that larson steers like an alouette i had put blocks of wood between the skis and spindles to help it then went to cats still have a bunch too old to run them tho, that size gen is handier than a pocket watch keep it up suprizing how often you will use it
Me too, mine was a '80 Citation. Couldn't get carbides for it so my neighbor that was a mason welded threaded rod to some rebar and man did that help with the snow plowing in the cornering.
My brother collects vintage snowmobiles and has a couple of Larsons. He has won many trophies at shows with them. He cleaned them up and got them running in original condition
Let something built today sit for ten years and see if it still works it won't that's y the older stuff is still running cause it was built well merry Christmas to you and your family God bless
Happy Christmas I've been checking out some of your older videos and I think what makes them best is the kids and that you have a professional camera person and have a Happy New Year
We had a Ski dadadler snow mobile 1968. They also had 3 models they came with JLO motors looked very similar to your Larson we wore the track out in a couple years Rode the heck out of it. Enjoy your vids
Best to turn the fuel off and run the carbs dry if they're going to be sat for a time 👍 New to the channel and enjoying working my way through your past videos. All the best, Chris.
Another Awesome Video, Fun seeing some old snowmobiles still running around, Anyway wanted to wish you guys a Happy Christmas and stay safe and warm up there
Great video as a young man I used to ski do and so enjoyed it. I had one ski-roul, not sure of spelling but it had a German 2 stroke and was great. all so had a Ski do that was made by same folks that made out board motors for boats. Way back I know but fun fun.
Cool video I love the old ones 1968 is when I was born. That one looks really good for the year. Merry Christmas to you and your wonderful family. And thanks for making you videos for us to watch.
And snowmobile rides look like they were cold Central Wisconsin right now is 27 below wind chill tomorrow they're calling for 45 below windshield the only part of farming I don't miss is the cold otherwise I miss it dearly
New Years eve night riding snowmobiles once. One guy got bucked off and kill switch didnt work. The machine went on its own ride near parked trucks. Eventually hit a stump and stopped. High anxiety.
Ope, makes me want to get my Dad's scorpion II and Raider out. You guys in the blizzard warning up there tonight? We are supposed receive 40 mile an hour wind gusts and to get -30 to -40 wind-chill down here in the SE toe of the state so can't imagine its better up where you are. Stay safe and Merry Christmas.
I take it that you have been watching some Red-green show about using duck tape, have you ever heard of that show? There's a old time snowmobile run in Lake Park coming up in February
The smile on Justin's face when that Larsen fired up was priceless. Gotta love the smell of that blue smoke. Fun video
This is probly one of the best channels on RUclips I enjoy watching them thanks
Thank you!
Love the old snowmobiles.
Hatches are battened down here. See what ole man winter brings. Stay safe everyone.
Bring on the snowmobiles... I dont wear helmets either just driving around at reasonable speeds in the yard
Gotta love the vintage sleds!
Nothing better than the smell of snowmobile exhaust on a winter day!!! Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄

@@trinitydairy yeah we all gotta take care of those needs but it sucks to let go of those things with memories of the good times had.
Alan, my dad sold Johnson outboard motors & snowmobiles. The Challenger we had we called “Screamer”. That thing would really wind out & move !
Great old school fun and nice to see the old sleds being used. Thx
Jessica did a good job running the camera. Great to see you making use of the old machines.

Black and fast sounds like a JD Liquifier
I really wish I was old enough to pay attention a bit closer to the model and specs of the John Deere but I will look up liquifier to see if that’s the sled
Looks great them kids are loving it making great family memories
Good ole blue smoke. I can smell it. Gets rid of the mosquitoes.
We haven't had a mosquito around here for weeks lol
Awe the good old days. Ride them for a day and then work on them for a week.😂
Some good memories watching you on the old snowmobiles. Thank you Merry Christmas to you and your family.
God bless your humble farm (I'm your neighbor in SD 😀) 🙏
Alan, your a genius!
We've been there.

Merry Christms, Enjoy your videos. Your Scenery Is Beautiful. Enjoy your snowmobiles.
Nothing like blue smoke from a snowmobile on a frigid day to lift the spirits of young and old!

Happy New year hope see you and kids grow and live the good life I had a lot of memories growing up mine working in Nebraska
Good to see you enjoying yourself. Dairy farming is the toughest in my opinion when it comes to farming.

I had i ski doo something like that but it had a primer instead of choke worked really good would start on first pull even the first start of the year
Me too, mine was a '80 Citation. Couldn't get carbides for it so my neighbor that was a mason welded threaded rod to some rebar and man did that help with the snow plowing in the cornering.
