Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture. With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Tractor stuck and Jim isn't at the farm. Hopefully he's smiling somewhere warmer.
Where’s our Jim “back in my day” interview? Be great to hear his background. Great video as usual Zach
I’m in Hawaii right now. I’ll keep an eye out for Jim.
But 😂 still Jim’s fault,… for sure!
@@joopterwijn Of course! It's SOP to blame someone who ISN'T there whenever bad things happen. You know that, obviously. ;)
Bahaha thats funny
I can totally relate. Yesterday, down here in Florida, my ice was melting way too fast in my drink by the pool. I hate ice problems!
🤣🤣🤣 at least today it won't melt so fast
thats a great problem to have...🤣
Same thing happens in AZ at HH time.
I'm not sure if I'm happy for you or angry at you 😂
@@MillennialFarmer Be Happy 😊 😃
Good to see dad back on the farm again. And as always Mrs Millennial Farmer, thank you for all the hard work editing the videos and posting as frequently as you could through the holidays. It was greatly appreciated.
No one ever thanks her!!! I second this
THANK YOU MF'ER I really appreciate all you do for this channel. Without you, it wouldn't be where it is today!! You're a true God send! Thank you again, and your doing an amazing job I love watching them they are enjoyable!!! And hilarious!!!
S. Pursell, thanks for reminding whoever reads this and thanking her!

Love the videos. Found your channel when I was recovering from surgery for cancer 4 years ago, it brought a welcome distracting to a painful and crappy situation. Also living in Iowa, I can understand many of your hardships. I live on an acreage surrounded by farmers. Love the way of life. Now fighting my cancer fire the 3rd time, I'm returning to get caught up in your adventures. Stay safe and keep the videos rolling.
I wish you the best of luck. Thank you for being here with us.

I enjoy your sense of humor during the seemingly endless winter!
I can picture Jim sitting by the fire laughing his ass off.

wonder how many people actually "sit by the fire" during cold and blizzard type weather. Sounds wonderful. but probably anyone not outside is sitting by a warm computer on you tube, instagram etc .😀
Great to see your Dad back on the job thankyou for your efforts in editing and producing quality videos keep it up!
Love the vids, I enjoy watching the way you and your father make decisions together, you guys respect each other, but in the end respectfully knows who’s the boss. That’s the way my father and I were, I miss that so much, he past in 2011. Keep the vids coming.
I love seeing Pops In the videos, was nice to see him again! Looking good! Haul away fellas, stay safe and thank ya!!
From Norway with love! nah just fun
btw. you should have a set of chains for situations like that, for at least one of your wheeled tractors. or just some chain mat, that you can lay on the snow/ice, for the tractor to run on, the combination of the tractor weight and the chain griping into the snow/ice should be good enough to help you get moving. For just get moving, I don't think you need that big of chain
Short days - know those winter months blues. Thanks for the video. Tractor stuck - darn ice and snow. Wouldn't think that would happen in Minnesota. LOL Hope the crew / family are doing well. Take care - Be safe - Stay warm
Happy New Year to all of the MF Family. Stay warm and safe! God bless!
Wooooo! Best channel on RUclips! So glad to finally get another video! Keep it up Zach!
Thanks a lot Zack. You are making me do that rocking back and forth thing that people do when they are stuck.
That is way colder than I ever want to be. Hats off to you!
You need a set of chains for your snow tractor. It makes all the difference in snow and ice.
That huge heavy anchor of a grain cart needs to have auxiliary hydraulic motors powered off the tractor to drive those tracks....in emergencies.
@@JohnSmith-yv6eq that’s a pretty good idea. I wonder if such an option exists.
God bless all you farmers!
A tractor stuck brings back all kinds of "fond" memories. And that was in the days before there was anything like a cab on a tractor - only a "heat houser" on the Super M Farmall.
Epic. Looking forward to a million subs and Anna getting her ride.
This is one of the few channels that I anxiously await new videos.
Hopper bottom trucking. I used to do it for a living here in Pennsylvania. I miss it everyday.
You should look into adding a couple of 2000 bushel over head bins. It only takes a couple minutes to load trucks.
I love how you said "sno pusher"! That's what I call my tractor with a bucket in the winter.
According to google, daylight in the uk is about 45 mins less in the UK than MN... I'm envious of all that extra sunshine...
Morning Zack,
Back in the day we used to have the milk truck back down an extremely steep hill between 2 buildings to make the pick up.
We would plow the snow and then spread calcium chloride in the wheel tracks. It didn't matter how cold it was that stuff would cut through to the gravel in no time. I'm sure we don't get snow in Michigan like you folks in Minnesota do but this saved our bacon more than once.
As a truck driver I appreciate you making sure those trucks get loaded quick. Nothing worse than waiting an hour for a guy to come load you.
Zach, I always love those dogs of yours. They are super friendly at least that’s how it looks like in your video.
What I found on the farm and on the road to solve this issue is by going to the farm store and buy a few bags of granite chicken grit. It’s so much better than sand because it’s odd shaped and will not just roll under the tires like sand. It’s amazing on ice for walking and driving.
Unverferth carts can tilt the auger up for the big trucks. Also are weighted forward for more traction.
Happy New Year to you and your family !!! Another good video stay safe
We have the same sense of humor and that's what I appreciate about you Zach 👍👍.
I like it when your dad is in the episodes.
Hell yeah brother 💯💯💯💯

We should have snow this week sometime. Probably about 2 inches, and we are on the same latitude as the middle of Hudson Bay.
Its good though. Winter temps Average 5 Deg C.
You might need to keep some #8 limestone gravel around the farm in winter to "topdress" your farm yard for traction on the ice. It will usually work its way into the ice(depending on temperatures) and provide some traction
I was thinking the same thing. Having a load of gravel delivered once in a while for such occasions seems like the ideal solution.
And get scraped away or blown away in the next snow removal.
@@GAF19577 No, you just sprinkle it on lightly and it will slowly "melt" into the ice and when the ice melts in the spring it just helps your driveway.
@@learninghowtodothis8062 if you don’t get much snow and /or don’t snow blow and scrape your yard, that would work.
I've tried various things and found the best by far is wood ashes. Either save from home burning or find someone who does. Very little is effective. A coffee can full spread out about 10 feet will do. Just be sure to run a magnet through if any nails or screw are burned.
WOW it's cold out there. Just be careful and don't get hurt in the snow and ice!!!
Watching from Central Texas and it makes me cold just seeing all that Snow. Don't know how you Guys do it. 🤠
Very much appreciate that you talk about the income tax side of things and explain the cash basis. A lot of education available here!
Anna is getting close to her first cab ride!
There's more chance Mayor Pete gets a ride than Anna ... ;) Actually, it could be fun to listen to such a "shared ride" . Transportation matters . LOL
Have a good 2023, Duh & Zach .
Received your 2023 Calendar today. Thanks.
Recently found the channel, been watching backlog now aswell to get more content. Seeing the storm tearing down the shed and messing with some vehicles was really hard to watch eventhough I knew it all came out fine in the end. Hope this year proves to be better for y'all!
have you found the Captain Jeffrey John one yet? its probably my favourite ZJ funny.
Good set of tire chains work great.
Or 5 yards of sand in the corner of the yard.
Exactly my thoughts...
We have used chains in the past. We prefer a little limestone spread on the ice rather than chains if it is only a few problem areas. We have had chains come lose and break lights and windows already.
I remember years ago when fertilizer was somewhat affordable we had a similar situation and had the co op bring a spreader with potash to spread on the drive so we could move equipment around, it was the cheapest option then
I just realized Zack is into the swinger lifestyle, cool!!!
Hey millennial, I live in Minnesota and the shooting park that you bought that’s where my 4H state shoot is
Down here in Indiana, we have no snow but we have had a lot of precipitation snow and rain so we are dealing with that nasty sloppy ground, hoping for a good hard freeze to make life easier.

Here in the state of verdmont we put some things called ice chains on our trackteers Kuz it snows here every year. Thanks Zack and company
"state of verdmont"?
His name is Zach, not Zack.
Thank you for sharing your life with us. It is very helpful to see how fellow Americans in different states go about their business to make an honest living. Farmers are the backbone of our nation and without them we will cease to be successful in all facets of our economy. Thank you again and God bless you and your family. J.Au-en
Zach that was so good loved it did not think you would get the tractor stuck with the frozen ground but it happens thank you stay blessed hope Becky and the kids are well.
Cheers Zack it's to late for a happy new year but I wish you and your family a good one. From the UK.
And that boys and girls, is why we use tire chains on our tractors here in Norway in the winter :P
large pieces of carpet work great under tires when they are slipping. put them in front of the tires and it will pull itself right out!
So good to see your dad again… back from Florida so soon? 😂
I know I’m late here but I wouldn’t have thought that tires would work better than tracks on snow and ice.
Thats why I love this channel because I learn things like this!
I can totally understand the getting stuck Delma, and have been there and done that living in very rural Northeast New York State, as we have big hills and mountains here. The farm life, no matter what type, keeps you close to home, especially in the winter months. Glad to see a new video, and would love a snowmobile ride video, with you and the kids. I am unable to do that now, because my 68;year old body is worn out! 😊😊😊😊
Get some barn lime. Works wonders on improving traction on ice. Ashes from a wood stove is good too.
Good thing it’s cold so that mat is rigid, rather than the 70° we had in west Texas or it would’ve been too floppy!
What has worked on our farm is to maybe try to have some loose road stone around that you can spread out where you need to get some traction. It works wonders if you can keep it from getting wet and freezing hard. Keep a pile covered somewhere. The problem with putting it on top in a driveway is it ends up in your snow piles after the next snow.
As a driver I can appreciate the efficiency of the way yall are loading
Happy New Year to the family, just spotted a farmer up here in NW Ohio put up a big shed like yours and has the same style doors on it that lift up. Must be the new set up instead of slider type doors . Any ways thanks for the updates and stay safe on your new sled.
To move rubber mats by hand ,I clamp on 6 inch C clamps they act like handles and give you good grip.
Great idea!
Boy that Kenworth is super shiny and nice looking!!!!
Thanks for your support 🎊🎊🎊🎊

Ever thought about getting some beef cattle to diversify your operation
We had cattle and hogs 25 years ago. Dad got rid of them to minimize risk and doesn't regret it
i saw in austria that they spread sand on the snow for more traction. maybe works on the farm aswell
Use a pair of vise grips to move the mat around. It makes it quick and easy, especially the C channel vice grips.
So Dad was feeding the squirrels in this video! The dogs chasing squirrels just got more fun.
Glad you got unstuck. Spring is not too far away
A set of tire chains would go a long way … lol especially Minnesota winters ..🤔
Love the videos they are so interesting and awesome and funny if what you do in your farm and everything to racking how cool keep it up Zach and Becky for editing the videos!
You need to call yer closest gravel pit guy, you know, we all have one. Tell him to dump a couple loads of sand so you can scoop some up & spread it around with yer bucket! Corn would work too LOL.
A nice pile of rock cinders that you could spread out would help with traction . Best part, No clean up necessary. It magically becomes “driveway material”
They would make a racket going thru the snowblower. Hopefully don't hit any windows.
Interested in your idea of a huge hill. It all looks reasonably level to me!
That was just sarcasm! 😂
“Precious little hands!” 😂😂. Softest hands in town, baby!!
I'd get a sand spreader. Spread some around might help. Or even small stone. Plus it would help melt the ice when the sun's out
I hope your crops this year are so good you don't have enough room to store them
ive always dreamed of having snow down here in the south, but seeing how it is for you, maybe it isn't all fun and games.
Lol snow costs is a lot of money up north!
The fun snow would be more in the southern mountains. After an afternoon of fun it simply melts away.
Hard to blame Jim for being stuck when he's not there lol. Glad to see done videos rolling again. Thanks Becky
Just an FYI you have 984k subscribers on one channel and 163k on your other. I believe that's over a million for Anna to go for a ride. Just saying you never specified which channel, you just need a million.😜
Good job you guys. I love it, see a bunch of feathers, we all know what happened there. The circle of life but you asking "You OK. you OK????" Too funny
Due to the fact that you haul grain during the winter, and that MN gets some harsh weather etc., not to mention all the other equipment you buy and have on the farm, seems like it would make sense to get a set of chains for the outer front and rear duals on that tractor or whichever one you plan t regularly use.
Grats on being allowed to fix your own equipment yourself btw!
I realize the older I get the more I hate snow BUT at least we don't have to deal with stupid bugs!! Great video like always!!!
Thanks for all you hard work. We love watching your channel.
Hope no one calls PETA on the hurt bird.
LOL!
I got stuck on ice as well in my Semi truck during this storm. I was trying to disconnect from a trailer and the snow was compacted and wet.
Zach when we were hauling corn to town there was always ice around the bins from the snow melting off the bin roofs and one time I was at the site and there wasn't cellphones back then so I ran a bushel or two on the ground and corn makes great traction I found out.
One useful trick is to use a log chain spooled out in front of the slipping tires with one end fed into the lugs, it works like snow chains for a few feet if you only need a little oomph to get moving.
Dad’s back for some winter weather!
Maybe you already thought of this but sometimes you can lower the scarifiers on the box grader and bust up some of the ice. Good to see you posting.
Howdy from Kansas, put salt or grave down. You need chain's for one tractor breaks up the ice or snow
Tire chains are expensive, but totally worth it when you get something like that....
Thanks again for a great winter time video. I know you hate the snow but I am from Mississippi and it never snows on the ms gulf coast. Yup we are on the coast lol.
Yes the snow does make it hard to do farm work so far we dodged the bullit an got rain this winter
I like your channel/videos, informative and entertaining
Next time just put some chains around each of the outside tires. Works great to get some traction to get out of slick spots.
It’s nice that you hire truckers to haul your stuff even you have your own trucks you’re giving them work helping America you’re helping somebody pay their bills and that’s a great thing
Good VIDEO. From Wisconsin Dairyland 🧀. No snow in Southern Wisconsin
Gidge is the queen of the Mn. tail waggers club. Need more Cat-Dog, Zack. LOL
Hi. Have you thought about having a load of crushed rock sitting around to spread around on the ice? Just trying to help. Thanks for the videos. Very enjoyable.
Good to see you doing something work and how to see you riding the snowmobile a little bit ta opp to see you in the next video i love your video
I do a fair amount of snow plowing and I always have a few bags of sand on the back the truck. Just spread some sand and you will be amazed at the difference, you will drive that tractor up the hill in a heartbeat. Menards and Runnings sell 60 lb. bags for about $5 a bag. Good luck.
Might need some snow chain for your Johnny love your show
