    You should put a couple of quarts of automatic transmission fluid in it. That works really well for cleaning the fuel system up.

    Good luck with the heaters! I remember helping my dad install a tank heater like yours on his JD 4020. It made a world of difference when we needed it to plow snow. That tractor started hard in July let alone January. His 4010 didn't have that problem. Didn't even need ether. Funny how each tractor has its own quirks like that. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

    Tip that I like to share. On the engine heater. Instead of having it plugged in all the time and wasting electricity. I put a cheap timer on then have set to turn on automatically 2 hours before I plan to use the tractor. So let’s say you plan to run it at 8 am then it will turn on 6 am and shut off at 8 am. Then the other 22 hours out of day it’s not using electricity. It saves me at least 1 dollar a day. 120 days or more when you need it plugged in over the winter adds up. Good job installing the heater

    On the manure pump, I wonder if you can turn the piston around 180 degrees so that it sucks the manure back into the barn a little bit to loosen the clog. When you push on a clog it gets tighter. When you suck on the clog it shrinks up. I've had some success unclogging manure pipes using this technique with a vacuum tank. Pressure would never work but sometimes vacuum would.

    I didn't learn until a few years ago that the PreMix Antifreeze is better for the cooling system, because it uses softened and stabilized water, no minerals that can be a problem. I probably could have saved a radiator or 2 because of the "hard water" that I have. The mechanic that told me said you either pay a little now, or a lot later.

    Zero Start makes good products. I've used them on my semi trucks and farm tractors since the Seventies, and they last a long time. They are sensitive to burning up the heating coils if you get low on water or develop an air pocket.

    When you were putting the valve in the cab heat return I was just waiting for that flat head to hit the thumb... at the end when you're idling the rig down that blue color on the straight pipe is weirdly satisfying to see. Is this your only cab with heat or do the others have it too?

    If still looking for a water tank heater maybe check out BCP farming and trucking. He's out of Saskatchewan last winter or so he built a tank out of an old fuel oil tank. It has two water tanks and a fire box. Fills up in morning and last about 24 hours. Seems like a pretty simple deal.

    The best injector cleaner is ATF in a diesel engine. Especially on older ones. Not sure I would recommend it in these newer ones

  • @greatnorthernn-3154
    @greatnorthernn-3154 2 месяца назад +2

    It seems odd that the stack turned purple all the way to the top with that load. It would seem to indicate that the exhaust gas temperature is way to high. The timing advance in the injector pump must not work at all. If it was ran in this condition for any length of time it might have burnt an exhaust valve. With the straight pipe a burnt exhaust valve should be easy to hear when cranking on a cold engine. You can also crack the individual injector lines loose while running to isolate the bad cylinder.
    When running the hot water from engine heater to the thermostat housing you take a chance on the thermostat opening and the heated water circulating in the radiator instead of the engine block. Ask me how I know.....

    Your cab heat should come from a port off the engine water pump and return to block. Your coolant heater should be it's own system. Always run a thermostat. I put shut offs on all coolant ports in case you have a hose leak. That will be a nice rig when you get it all straightened out !

    I noticed the engine seems to "chuffing" on the exhaust like an exhaust valve not seating properly. Check your valve clearances, you may have a tight valve. Also while engine is running loosen each high pressure iinjection line one at a time and listen for a change in the engine sound for each cylinder. The cylinder that provides the least change while doing that will be the weak cylinder. Might be worth a try. All the best!

    I'd be curious to see what you find on the thermostat, I picked up an 806D a few months back. The factory temp gauge is unhooked and has been replaced by an electronic one, the highest I've seen it is 150* except once I was really making it work on about an 80* day with the 15' batwing shredder, it briefly got up to 190 during a hard pull and would drop back down. Mine also didn't have a block heater but had a hose ran from the temperature sender port on the back of the head to the block drain. I mounted one off the side of the engine oil cooler, getting the cold water from the block drain and putting the hot water in the temp sender port. How well does yours start? Mine will start in the 40's but requires quite a bit of cranking and blows white smoke before it starts. Plug the block heater in for a couple hours and it fires right up.
