On my way out of this world lying in my bed and I run across this....
It brings back very good memories of my dad and I going there with his 65 mustang with it's 289 small block....
Man those were the best days at the track on the weekends....😏
I’m so very Happy that my simple vid was able to bring you some special memories...Peace!
Haven't been there since 1994, good to see the awesome competition.
It makes this 68 year old, former bracket racers heart warm seeing all this old school iron hammering down the track. There aren't many strips left anymore and I just checked out your website and see that the track is thriving. I will have to make the journey out there from Colorado to check out the action.
Very nicely done! Glad to see that you finally hooked up with some good weather at Woodburn.
Thx Dan looks like third time is a charm...lol! Sure is a beautiful track and had a great turnout of cars
I used to go to Woodburn , OREGON drag strip in 1963
back in 1996 I went to Woodburn and got to take pictures on the other side of the fence at the starting line like real photographers. a friend of a friend had a guy running a rail. got a few down at the end of the track as well. first time to Oregon
Nice track Mr. Severance. As well as a nice new car.
I bracket raced at this track in 1973-76. Had a 73 Z-28 I bought new smog motor best was 13.49. bought a 69 lt1 370 hp from gm, ran mid 12s. Put a 250 shot no2 ran 11.70 at 126 mph on 7" cheep ass slicks. Couldn't come back till i put a roll bar in .i get it but never raced at a track agian. But won allot of street races, still driving that car 51 years later same engine good times. Ps that track back then was slicker than greased owl shit.
Back in the day there wasn't much for track prep like there is today. A lot of skid marks were left in the drivers seat as well as the track...LOL!
@@Area907-ASV I wasn't smart enough to be scared back then, I remember waving to the crowd at 120 mph.
Great editing on this.
Thanks!
It would be great to see more than the rear end of the cars for the actual races.
I agree with you. The track had media limitations of 60 ft trackside and photags had that area pretty much gobbled up. I had 3 cams and it was just me, myself and I so used them as I could. Thx for watching and commenting!
Thank you, love it!
Glad you like it!
Very COoL. And just when I was gettng my "blood pressure" under control Aera 907 is the "Gearhead Whisperer" The intro sounds (engines craking) was a ring-tone I use to have when I worked at a bodyshop. I just liked it. Unbeknownst to me, when I would leave my phone on my desk, it had a side affect of driving (no pun intended) the staff crazy as they would wonder who's car that is in the shop and why it won't start. My bad But clearly I've enjoyed the heck out of that ever since. Thank you for the video. Cheers from So.Ca.USA 3rd House On the Left (call before stopping by)
HA! Good Times...Cheers!
Also would love to see (Run What You Brung) to the track. Don't care anymore about the NHRA new crap. Like Nascar, the fun has been taken away by crazy rules & awful looking cars. Thanks for this video. Getting closer to what it was & fun is coming back.
Thanks for watching! I’m not totally thrilled with all the NHRA rules either but I am amazed at the evolution of squeezing more and more horsepower out of power trains that can get them down the 1000 ft track at +300 mph in the top fuel classes. I was 12 yo when I went with my dad to Stardust Raceway and watched funny cars (1966). It was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Stardust was only open for 5 yrs but there were so many cool events like wheel standers, top fuel FEDS, hot rods, Stock classes, etc. To this day I still gravitate toward the nostalgia car events because of all those cool memories. And since Since Tube analytics gives audience age categories the majority of viewers for this vid is 65 plus so I’m sure a few folks are taking a trip down memory lane like I do…Cheers!
❤❤❤
Met Bob Beal there.
Nice selection of cars! What aren't the stands more populated?
This was mostly from the first qualifying round and the stands are from the pit side. Later in the day they actually filled up.
I just wish they would show the times better.
Wedge heads do not perform like a hemi
No, but when prepped right, make great Nascar parts.
if this is in Oregon, it has changed so much since i raced there, was in early 90s for me with a dragster
Woodburn track is just south of Portland. There are also the Madras and Medford dragstrips in Oregon that I have never been to. Woodburn was impressive with manicured grass, not one piece of litter anywhere and of course super friendly staff and racers
@@Area907-ASV ok thought it was the same one, i did race there for about 5 years with a dragster, lot of friends did to, do the Livingstons still own it? the blue building looks the same but the track is much better , now, the pro stock cars heading for Seattle would stop there to tune before they changed the schedule for NHRA, thanks
