Just removed an older Pioneer 7" display unit dated 2016 in my 08 GXP that I could only connect to it with bluetooth, when I pulled the unit out it was a rats nest in there, whoever had just whack off the connectors and ran a cable with 16 gauge 10 conductor wire, only 8 were connected for the 4 speakers and no sub, so I cleaned all if it up and connected the new units harness to the 8 wires in the back in to the big 10 conductor cable, I had a hellva time finding the correct SWC wires on the old cut harness to reconnect to the head unit, didn't need the old Axxess SWC unit that was connected and didn't work on the Pioneer. All connected back up and it sounds good even without the sub and the SWC work correctly as the new head unit has connections to connect directly and map the buttons to anything I like. The new ATOTO F7WE unit does Android wireless and it works perfect, that's the whole reason for the change out so I could have Waze and Pandora from my phone and it automatically connects when I get in the car. I'll one day get around to maybe reconnecting the sub.
Which wire is the reverse light? I have mirror cam with backup camera but dont know which wire to connect into and easiest way PLEASE I'm not a mechanic lol
Yes, you needed to go the next video here: ruclips.net/video/cyS6yYrp4Ic/видео.html at the 18:43 mark. That is where I got the wire from. This comes from the ECU on the driver side., but the passenger side kick panel is the easiest place to tap that. There are a few Light/Green wires in there, so turn the ignition on and test before you hook it up. Good luck to you!
Tis the season for damp, wet interiors! I have taken the seats out of two of my cars and am drying them out now. I have seen another video here: ruclips.net/video/IXFl-hV_ywg/видео.html Sometimes to find these leaks in the trunk that travel through the carpet, you might need to take it completely out and inspect for water after a good rain. Or, I will simulate a hard rain with a sprayer on the water hose. Carefully look for water ingress. It isn't easy sometimes as the leak can look like it is coming from somewhere else. This trunk on the Solstice shares wet and dry areas and I can see how it would be easy to develop a leak as it attempts to shed water traveling on the cloth top. I have spent a few rainy seasons here in Oregon trying to successfully find and stop a leak. Any kind of interior leak bothers me and I check carpet padding frequently as you get moisture under the carpet and you don't know about it till the entire car smells like mold and mildew. Good luck, this involves patience and some good investigation. Anyone else offer anything specific to the Solstice they found?
@@afternoongarage THANKS. I found my dampness near the rear of the Solstice, as if one of the drain channels were plugged up. not alot of water, but enough to cause concern. Iwas planning to have the seats redone, so ill kill 2 birds with 1 stone and probably replace all of the carpeting too. No one said that living the top down life would be easy lol!
@@afternoongarage yes I tried that. Instead of tapping the radio power into accessory (because I was told it’s constant)…I tapped into wiper fuse which now allows the radio to turn on/off with the ignition. But now the radio doesn’t retain memory. So I plugged that yellow one into the 12v cig lighter because that’s a constant…but that did not help retain the memory. So now I’m lost. If I had to buy a module without steering wheel control…I wouldn’t know what to buy
Hello, Just installed my aftermarket stereo on 07 Solstice, but it has problems with steering wheel, stereo has 5V input and steering wheel cable comes 1V output. Electriisians told me I need can-bus adapter, but I can not find one, has anyone ever faced this problem and which can-bus adapter do I need to buy
You can see I used the ASWC-1 universal steering wheel interface for the Solstice. It uses the resistor divider network in the wheel itself and converts the signal to serial data where the head unit can use it. It is USB programmable and if you watch the video I had to program it with different settings to get it to work here: 19:28 Most all of these aftermarket radios use the same serial two wire input for the steering wheel control data, so it is just a matter of getting the right conversion program, wire the +5v and signal wire from the wheel and they work as they should.
So I have a wire harness that's suppose to work for the gm steering controls and and amp. Will I have to splice or just "plug and play"? Was yours not for the amp hook up?
Not sure what you have, but this particular harness was NOT supposed to work in my application according to the manufacturer. Most of these harnesses/chime boxes are not terminated, allowing you to splice any factory fitting connector on them. There may have been something on the market for the Solstice that will plug/play, but it is sometimes easier to take something universal and make it work because it gives you more flexibility.
I'm a tech guy but treading on new ground with car audio. Is the wire harness mostly color coded with the schematics and the gm product or is it trial and error? I probably answered my own question. Would this work with any aftermarket touch screen stereo?
Need to match up the wiring colors. I would never do trial and error unless I couldn't get the service info. You would then have to trace wires back to the source. I have color wiring diagrams and wire pickup locations for the Solstice on my Facebook page, Afternoon Garage. Link in the description.
The wiring can be tricky if you want everything to work together. The reason for this video was to show how I came up with the terminations I did in the harness.

Glad to see another person making videos on the Kappa platform! Looking forward to seeing what else you do vids on 🤙🏽
Thank you for supporting my channel. Spread the word, I am going to keep going!
I have a base model with a monsoon

My radio comes on aftermarket but no sound nothing from amp fuses are fine
Question: Has anyone experienced water buildup in the trunk/conv top area? Any recommrndations on how to fix it?

My radio is constantly on…tapped cig lighter, tapped radio fuse. But my radio will still turn on and off without the key in the ignition
The Solstice has something called RAP or retained access power. This means the radio will stay on until the door is opened. Did you try that?

Yeah, I think I'll pay someone to install a new head unit for me.

I'll do it
