Just a FYI.. Fab9 sells a gauge that replaces the oil gauge and has actual oil pressure, oil temp and coolant temp. Also, the seats aren't the best, but I am 5''9" and they are plenty spacious for me. I have plenty of legroom, my seat isn't even all the way back, and I have plenty of headroom also. Comparing the NC 2.0L to a K-series is also a little odd.
I own a 2012 Grand Touring with RHT, six speed standard. It has 42K miles on it. I am the second owner, I bought it with 30K miles on almost 3 years ago. I have no issues at all with it. Except I agree with you about the seats. Long drives there is just not enough padding, I use a car seat pad for additional comfort. My NC-2 is the best car I ever had for fun. BTW, good video!
I’m 6’2 and I fit in with decent room so idk what you’re on about bout saying taller people don’t fit if you’re 6’3 i’d say your to tall but if you’re shorter than that you’re good
It's more about torso length than overall height. His 6'1 must be more in the torso than legs. I have an NC1 and fit just fine at 6'0, but I don't have a long torso, and the NC1 seats are about 1" lower than the NC2 seats.
At the 11:03 mark, where you show the black NB, I'd like to know IFFFFFF I can put that front lip splitter onto my NC???? And if so, where can I get it??? Thanks.
Flying Miata have masses of aftermarket parts for the NC ! Great service also . Also the NC is the most awarded Miata of them all & I recon the best engine & gearbox. I have a 2010 nc3 . It’s the only one I can fit into at 6ft 3in .
Anxious to hear all about your NC upgrades. I'm 6'2" and 185 pounds and on the NC my head touches the hardtop and has about 1/2" clearance on the soft top. The NA, NB, and ND are too tight all around. So I'm excited to see how you address the 4 (plus more) things you don't like about your NC.
Setting an NB for track might be a little cheaper but the overall performance would be way lower. A NC with coilovers, track pads and track alignment is faster on track than a well prepped NB
I believe that the fitment issues based on height are mainly affected by the upper torso length. Im 5 ft 10 with longer legs than torso and fit perfectly. Im part of the big boy club and still fit with zero issues.. So, if you have along back then you might have a problem, but if youre mainly legs, then you should be fine! (Getting the aftermarket header is absolutely worth it :D )
Looking at getting one. What do you all think after being current or previous owners? Currently own a 2016 f150 and commute with it to work so will likely pay for half the payments in gas savings alone.
I'm 6' and fit in my '13 NC just fine, except for stop light vision. However, I don't ever recall breaking my neck and becoming paralyzed while looking under (or over) the main top sill checking the lights either. Other than stop lights I'm fine. I always wear a ball cap and have around an inch of clearance from the top (Grand touring Retractable hard top). Seats absolutely suck. I would even appreciate some suggestions on better seats (lower budget area). Not interested in race seats. I'm 57 myself and wife just a bit younger with a bad back. Looking for decent seat for me and just pure comfort for her (she's 5" 3").
Seat recommendations are always a bit tricky with street cars because you lose the airbags. That said, Sparco makes some nice reclineable street-based seats.
BRZ/GT86 seats are a great fit (slight mods to brz rails) won't suit over 5'10 as you don't sit back as far. (mainly for how close you will be to the steering wheel as the seat is deeper so doesn't push your torso nack as far).
13’ owner here- owned jags, several Audis, Alfa -omg fiat n other goofy euro stuff-enjoyable vid!! Choices r few now so thank you for carrying on the marque-🏆
@@NerdOsiris I'm 6' 1" and drove my '14 Miata from NC to CT with just quick gas and pee stops. No issues. I am just 174 lbs though. Larger people (as in weight) would probably have a bit tougher go at it. A Miata has more room than one would expect. I'd say 6' 3" and "trim" 190 would be "OK" comfortable, but a bit tight.
@@waynepurcell6058 That's definitely comforting. I'm 6'0 (I'm really 5'11 but I round up for tinder) / 180 so that's definitely comforting to hear. I've had a MR2 and an older Miata in the past and long trips were a drag because of it. Also side note, I live in NC now - do you ever attend the TMR events? ( I just got a new miata and plan on attending those soon )
Hell yes, aggravating as hell. I'll add in the virtually useless cupholders for those of us that just like cruising scenic roads with the wife. Never in my life would have thought some simple shit like a damn cupholder would make a difference in a vehicle until I bought my first Miata lol. I still love my NC though. Best model of the best car ever made.
@@waynepurcell6058took me a while to see this lol, I don’t think the Miata has a best or worst generation honestly. I’ve driven NA6,NB2 and NC3 and I love all the same but the NC is the most comfortable by far
The tranny is fine, it’s just a cast shift fork snapping from slamming shifts. I’ve been pushing 250whp in my turbo for 30k miles on the old box. Unfortunately the issue with owning a K series mean every other 4 cylinder is lacking.
lol at the 2nd gear « torque limiter », I challenge you to do blind test and you won’t be able to tell the difference. Also, consider self tuning with RomDrop and you’ll be able to change a bunch of things including the ECT gauge scaling.
i own a 2012 GT. i find it is best suited as a back road fun driver... not as pleasant on the highway, not enough power and i don't feel it hugs the road at 70 or 80 MPH.... i have bought Xida coilovers for it, but they are not installed yet
Wankel engines suck, literally. Gas, oil, and apex seals going early. All sucking cash straight out of your wallet. I speak personally as a previous RX-7 owner. The car almost made one feel like they were riding a motorcycle with its quick pick up and shit, but the downsides sucked majorly. If any auto company ever delivers a Wankel engine capable of at least 25-30 MPG and basic durability of around 150,000+ miles, I "might" consider one again. again.
I like your NC videos. Very insightful. Have you ever driven a 2017-2020 Fiat 124 Spider? I see comparison videos with the Fiat and ND Miata but I’d be curious about how the Fiat compares to the NC. I’m leaning toward buying an NC but have seen some decent prices on the Fiat.
Thanks! I found a good deal on the Fiat but really want an NC with the PRHT. I’ll keep searching for the Miata. Those are tricky to find and then when I do find one the deal isn’t right. Perhaps I’ll have better luck as we move into fall and winter. Keep up the great work on the videos!
Sounds like he picked the wong car. Too tall a driver, didn't consider the engine when truly compared to the K20, it'll never compare to a k20. Only valid complaint is the temp gauge. Time to buy another Bimmer. I love my NC. Had an NB it was fine but NC is hands down a better driver.
thats a bit concerning. i didnt know it had an oil pressure switch and it uses and algorithm to calculate oil pressures. i was relying on the gauge to tell me if stiction remover was ok in the engine or not. i saw the needle a bit higher but not much higher so i thought it would be ok. looks like i need to reevaluate
I have some double adjustable coilovers for the NC for sale, if you are interested. They got revalved a few years back and have zero miles on them since.
CAI, tune, header (alpha 2 bolts right up to stock exhaust), and these cars are great. Even better is that with a 2.5L swap ($400 at the local LKQ out of a Ford Fusion) with some cams and valve springs puts 205 to the wheel (with something that that NA/NBs SERIOUSLY lacked... torque). If you don't fit in an NC... you certainly don't fit in an NA/NB. Who cares if the oil pressure gauge doesn't show direct PSI... either you have oil pressure or you don't.... don't like it? drop a digital gauge in there and call it a day.
What a whiner....the car is what it is...one of the most lauded sports cars of all time....my previous 2011 PRHT was lots of fun...my 2018 ND is more of the same.
I hate one thing about my nc. I hate getting gapped by an f150 service truck loaded with ladders when im doing freeway pulls. Come on mazda throw the turbo 4 out of the crossover suv in there and make a proper miata.
I mean, with just a header you can run mid/low 14s in the 1/4 mile. Not sure how you're loosing to service trucks unless they are modded Ecoboost or Coyote V8.
i gotta nc 25ae (3.75), BBR stage 2 turbo, 305bhp, most fun car ever, and i've owned every variant of nissan skyline, toyota supra's, mustang gt 5.0, Evo's mk3 and 6.5. The only car close to the mx5 turbo, in fun terms, is a highly modded nissan silvia S15 R.
