All last year I said I was buying a Kane jersey in white (I have two wings jerseys in red but had none in white) if he re-signed. I was sitting at a blackjack table when he re-signed. I walked away a winner that day…and take a guess what I bought with some of the winnings haha.
When (if ever) will we see Elmer?? I really believe he can be a great asset to this squad now that we have a little more talent on the skill side. He is a big body (hopefully has worked on strength and balance) and has great skill and net front. Could we see him with Mazur and Kasper in the future, or does he end up moving on to a different team?
Look at how many forks they take in the conversation about Berggren to avoid suggesting he might earn top 6 minutes. Is it really so hard to imagine he's comparable to Tarasenko? Does the fact Tarasenko only really plays the same side as Kane not matter? Does the idea of Tarasenko and Rasmussen using their size on a line together not intrigue you??
Tarasenko is an established NHL very good player who was very good last year. Something like +13 w a bad Ottawa team, w good per 60 scoring rates iirc. Considering what Lalonde wants from this team, and the rap already on Berggren about his defense, it's hard to see him jumping Tarasenko in the lineup unless one goes really bad and the other really good at the same time.
Ed was hurt 3 times last year. Had shoulder surgery. I'm not expecting a full season from him. I think this rebuild is still, even at this point, only going to be relying on a few young players, and of those players, only Raymond looks like he could be an elite player. Seider will be a really good defensmen, but not a great player! This could be a bad year!
@@davidlaffin5747 The injury thing is correct, but one question - why is everyone so incredibly sure that Raymond will be elite? Rookie season was top, second year was much worse, got pushed around. Last season was great & I'd like to see him always have 70+ points. But I don't understand a player having a good season & everyone thinking - next year will be the same or better. with Seider I see it differently because Seider showed what he can do in his rookie season & is "kept down" under Lalonde. starting 70% in the D-zone, losing his spot in PP1 obviously affects points, but he's in the top 3 of all time Detroit players in almost every category. Was 1st for Detroit last year in every category except points and is 23 years old. Seider just needs to shoot more often, not put up some hits because he leaves his partner alone from time to time, but he'll learn those things.
to me, i could see raymond being elite but I wouldn’t bet my life on it, he’s young and has the potential to take that next step forward, but he could very well plateau right now too. Seider’s offense is very under the radar, as he’s always getting the toughest minutes and defensive zone deployments. As our team becomes a better possession team, Seiders offense will only continue to improve. I feel much more confident about seider becoming elite than raymond, but obviously hoping for both to take the next step.
Where are you checking? NaturalStatTrick had him over 50% offensive zone starts at both 5v5 and all strengths. Dobbers Player usage has him over 50% offensive zone deployment too.
@@LockedOnRedWings that only counts offensive minus defensive. It ignores his neutral zone and OTF starts. This season at 5v5 he had: 114 Ozone starts 104 Dzone starts 172 Nzone starts 528 On the fly starts You can download the full breakdown from moneypuck, then it's found starting at column BR
his health and linemates are the main issue. if he's stuck w JT Compher the majority of the year as his center, i expect him to struggle mightily to produce 5v5. as he did last year. those 2 have practiced together in the offseasons for like 5+ years. there's no chemistry happening. it's not gonna happen. bad bad mismatch of skillsets and styles. if he plays w Larkin and one of Cat/Senko/ Raymond? he will score a ton, if healthy.
@paulwt9783 and anyother forawrd that makes the roster will start over him, Mazur, Casper maybe Danielson? Wings scheme is geared towards defense, thats why they let guys like Sprong and Ghost walk. Thats why they signed guys like Motte and Fish and Copp, 2way forwards. Bergs is absolutely not a 2 way forward, and while he can score goals at the AHL level he really dosent project to put up 20 goals in the NHL. Obviously things can change, but if he dosent get more responsible on the D side, hes going to be scratched for other young players that actually play a two way game. Only way he stays in the li eup is if he puts up huge point totals, but hes not gonna get the ice time to put those big numbers up.
@@joe2.017 they need scoring. losing fabbri and sprong means the bottom 6 scoring that was so critical is now gone. fabbri was traded bc they needed the money not any other reason really. sprong it was defense but there were also personality reasons reportedly.

Cat Compher Kane played together extensively last year and they were not a good scoring line. They couldn't score at all really. Cat and Kane's peripherals still looked good, eye test still looked good. Center was a bad bad fit for them tho. Neutralized their offense.
Thanks again for the content guys! Much love from Canada! LGRW
Love Kaner in the Winged wheel. Brought back a lot of my passion for this team. Such a likable guy too. Retire here Kaner.
Kane is going to win the Art Ross and Hart and then cap it off with the Conn Smythe after the Wings win the Stanley Cup!
Kane will be a borderline 3rd liner...
Not with "bad Newsy" and the Yzerplan.
I see nothing wrong with this 🤞🏻
Jesus dude lol.
Not very realistic take, but that would be great! LGRW!
Hot take = Kane, Larks, Razor all 80+ points
I'd argue that's not a hot take at all, and I think, if he can stay healthy, Larkin hits 100
Cat needs to miss those goalposts, if he had missed just a couple last season, they are in the playoffs.

Raising great points. I'll lose it if Bergrenn ends up playing on a line with Copp

Question.. What do you think, will we see Seider together with Ed this season?
if so, what would the other two d pairs look like?

Ain't no way Kane started 50% of his shifts in the offensive zone.
Just checked and he started 12% Ozone, 11% Dzone.

Agree on Berggren; unless he shows more defensive acumen he will be gone at end of the season or sooner.

I see Bergs being a healthy scratch most nights unless one of our top 6 gets injured.
how does that work? what is the bottom 6 then? the team is short forwards and desperately needs scoring.
