- The Pencil Vault 101. No, not a weird place in Fallout 4, but a tangible effort to preserve analog writing tools for my ancestors.

****************************NOTE****************************
The video ends at 08:17 and there is approximately 4 minutes of light music over a black screen.
Apologies, this was a mistake on my part.
List of things you can do with 4 Minutes
Quietly ponder the meaning of life
Make a sandwich (extra mayo)
Text your mother
Write a Haiku about sobriety
Sharpen all the pencils in your pot
Air Guitar
"Sharpening it kinda gets rid of the point." I can't tell if that was accidental or not, but it made me smile.
Great video. I wish I wasn't finding your work so late.
The big emotional explosion that happens when you do, in fact, pass the vault along to your progeny and they react with complete and utter disinterest, to the point of chewing on the pristine Blackwing, is really not to be missed.
+sdovas The sweet salty tears of a disappointed parent
They await us all, even if we've conned ourselves into thinking we've gotten by without them... it's worse even than that moment when a sharpened point slips broken out from the pencil ' s wood. Hey, there's an apt metaphor, for something or other. Go run with it.
"I'm not going to sharpen it because that would ruin the point".... well actually XD
hilarious, i was watching and after the movie ended i looked down at my desk to do something, and the beat of the music was timed with the ticking of my watch... i was putting my ear to everything on the desk.. then read the screen... good one.
+d Edwards Glad you enjoyed it! I'm all about owning my mistakes and making them positive (:
Just a few nights ago I was going through some old art supplies from the late 90s. I bet I have a few they don't make anymore
Joseph Dickson You better believe it! I like to think that I'll have a nice little collection of unknown pencils in a few decades
I remember the first time i started school, my mom showed me her precious pencil collection...i am going to do the same thing too with my kids. I store my pencils in a tin pencil case with a tiny pack of silica to preserve its freshness and protect from moisture...
what happened to your analog watch?
I have many watches
🧑 *"This is from back when there were still trees. It's made out of actual **_real_** wood."*
(Says his future great great great grandchild to his classmates during show and tell.)
Great collection of pencils. Love your enthusiasm :) thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I love sharing it with you guys
What about a pencil stub jar?
Check my latest video!
I like the video and keeping this collection is a good idea. It's interesting to speculate as to which ones will be the most sought after in 30 or 40 years' time.
Chandon Bleackley For something that is seen as a 'redundant' technology right now, I'd be especially interested to see how the future treats pencils and their acolytes
You should add a pencil sharpener to the vault because they will not exist either .. lol
+onlymerin In the far flung apocalyptic future, we will have all resorted to savage cannibalism, and I can sharpen it on my filed sharp teeth
What's that double ended postman pencil made by?
+Evan B Koh I Noor. Czech brand (:
I worked a decade in estate liquidation. I'd find pencils in drawers, etc., and would sometimes keep them. These days, I use some of my interesting ones to draw ACOs with. The pencils I draw with are often featured along with my ACOs on my DeviantArt gallery (I have some gems)! :3
I thought this would show me the location to a pencil in vault 101 in FO4..
+STG44VOLVO Sorry to disappoint. Use console commands to spawn as many as you like
LOL It's 2079 and pencil aren't made no more.
Why is there so much dead space at the end?
Endezeichen Grimm Because I'm an idiot and didn't clip my nested audio sequence to the duration. That or it's a compelling treatise on the afterlife which seeks to reaffirm our existence by putting us face to face with the abyss.
Good catch either way, thanks for letting me know
***** Thanks for the kind words! The EDC videos are great fun and I wanted to show people you don't need a Glock to carry an EDC. Tons more content on the way and plenty of crazy projects in the works. Glad to have you along for the ride!
🤷🏻♀️ *Is it like, a really big toothpick?*
- future child while looking at pencil
Awesome as always!! :)
Takerfan4ever303 Thanks! Got another video recorded today which will go up next week, and a pencil review shot awaiting edit (:
Is that a smart watch on your wrist?
memm Indeed it is, original Pebble. I love it, and I think electronic ink technology is the future of wearables, not the iWatch. I have a Digital Analog video in the works that shows all my tech off. Thanks for the support!
I spotted a pebble
+jo hawkins Great smart watch!
+Wood & Graphite Yeah I love mine I use timely watch face
That BIC Evolution is *not* a pencil. You should get rid of it.
Sharpening your blackwing will not "get rid of the point"
Don't forget to include a sharpener.
Just saying, but there's a fair good chance that your children or grandchildren won't give a damn about what you well care about. Not because they're mean but they'll have their own points of interests. Speaking from experience...
+primaryspiral Absolutely. This is a definite possibility, But I am hopeful that my children, and by proxy their children will appreciate the history and context of them, in what is an ever more digital world. If I don't save them, they definitely won't see them (:
Wood & Graphite
I guess some cool drawings could catch their interest! Anyway, I strongly believe that pencils will still be around in the future despite digital tools.
+primaryspiral I very much hope so!
