OUTSTANDING, Glen. Track ejector pin marks notwithstanding, whether you mastered Tsmiya or Tamiya mastered you, I'd say you accomplished your goal. The smooth build makes one want to crack open a Tamiya kit from the stash and start gluing! As there aren't too many Tiger movie appearances, I'll go with the obvious -- "Saving Private Ryan." Good conversion job by the movie guys to make a reasonable facsimile of a Tiger even if Captain Miller and his boys were blowing off T-34 type tracks with their "sticky bombs." It's in the field manual..
Thanks Lazza, it is almost plastic porn sliding Tamiya peices in to place :) When i was researching all of the options for movies with Tiger tanks in them i wasnt suprised to find out that none of them are actual Tigers, which leads to another idea, to make an exact replica of a movie tank by using various kits to get all the canabilised parts accurate. I will add that one to the long long list for now 👍
I just finished building that Tamiya kit but sadly without the zimmerit and it was very satisfying.Yes the tracks are time consuming but not difficult. As far as the movie goes it has to be Kelly's Heroes in front of the bank. Looking forward to the painting and weathering.
Hi another entertaining and educational video, I'm glad I stubbled across your channel, I've been building car models for the past few years reminiscing my childhood and would like to get into doing tanks as I never did that as a kid, so your videos have been an source for inspiration, thank you for sharing. As for the film, at first I thought it might be Kelly's heroes but found out the Tigers used in the film are not actually Tigers, then I thought of Fury, but that Tiger was an early version one without Zimmerit, so the only other one that comes to mind is the the final battle scene in Saving Private Ryan. Can't wait to see the next instalment, see p up the good work , and thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

It's always a pleasure to watch your videos and this was no exception. I know exactly how you felt, wanting to put some plastic together- I've got 4 dioramas in progress at the moment and I was missing the smell of Tamiya Extra Thin! To satisfy my craving I've started a series of 1/24 Jaaags as light relief and it's working well. I don't understand those people who slag off Tamiya kits as being too easy- sometimes you need something that just fits nicely and doesn't drive you mad. The Tiger looks good, and I enjoyed the music choices too. I don't know the film in question, but I like the idea of recreating a scene from a film, I'll have to think about doing one myself. I've got a 1/48 Dambusters Lanc arriving tomorrow- do you think I should try for a black & white colour scheme like the film?
Thanks Ian, very kind of you to say that mate, i do appreciate all your support. I like the idea of a black and white version, Mick Cohan did a black and white Panther and it was really excellent, i think it would be challanging, but the up side is it could look amazing!!!
@@HalidonDioramas I've seen a diorama that was half present-day in colour and hald historical in black & white, which I was much impressed by, but I'm not sure I could carry it off so I'll use colours.
I often wonder why so many modelers paint the tracks rust colored. If the vehicle is in service it would have the color of the terrain it is running in. I personally use a grey-brown color because of the use of earth tones on the track and the worn areas would show a semi shiny metallic hue. Overall good build.
Thanks Andre, depending on the story I'm trying to convey I might splash on some rust here and there, i think we do it cos it looks good adds some visual disruption to the model 👍
@@HalidonDioramas I got the Tamiya 1/35 Tiger kit you are building in this video, after playing too much Enlisted. I found your channel after looking for a building video of this kit. I started working on it yesterday and it’s going well, I didn’t expect building it to be this much fun. I got all the way to step 5 of the manual without messing anything up. Thanks for all the info in this video, it helps a lot. I have no airbrush set so I got some model spray cans. I’m a bit worried about what paint will do to the tiny details of the tank.
@@darthchopper9016 Spray cans are fine, just make sure you don't drown the model, do light coats, better three very light coats than one really thick detail destroying coat :)
@@HalidonDioramas Yes I worry about accidentally drowning it in paint because I’m so new at it. The mobile hull turret seems like it will easily get stuck in the paint. I am going to make a diorama for the tank and use that as spray can practice. If that goes well I will spray the tank.
That looks a great kit up to the tracks! How hard would it have been to make them so they snap together I wonder? Cracking job though - it would have done my head in! I've wondered about that zimmerit - it's nice to see how it works. Great result. Looking forward to this one. Off the top of my head - Kelly's Heroes perhaps? Have a good build! 👍
Hey Andrew, thanks mate. I agree, it couldnt be too hard to have them snap lock in it would save a lot of rooting around thats for sure!!! Zim was easy to apply and i would certainly use the Tamiya stuff again. Kellys Heros added to the list. 👍
Got the kit in India but the zimmerit sheet had to be imported from the US. Unfortunately, the paints aren't available in India so my Tiger has been sitting completely naked since it was completed 8 months ago.

Like I have told Tamiya a thousand times: You can't call it Decals if they aren't cut out. It's tape if they don't cut it. I refuse to buy any Tamiya kits until they cut out their masking/decal/Tape sheet. I buy on average 30-50 kits a month for a Veterans charity and refuse to buy Tamiya. The market has too many other kits that are great to buy stuff that they skimp on features. If I bought Tamiya kits I would have to buy masking sets. VA won't allow inpatients to have exacto knives so Tamiya is a no-go.
Great vid. My guess would be Kellys Heroes & the scene where the Sherman mistakenly hits the Tiger with a paint shell.

Two most likely movies are either Kelly's Heroes or Saving Private Ryan (which actually used T34s converted to resemble Tiger tanks).
Two of my favourite movies for sure, Kellys Heros still stands up today i recon, a great movie 👍
