The Post Office's Evil Robot?

  • Post Office Inquiry. Sam Stein asks Mandy Talbot if she's the Post Office's Evil Robot.
Sam Stein referred to Mandy Talbot, an in-house lawyer, as the ‘Post Office’s very own ”evil robot”, saying that she was supposed to be responsible for civil actions but ‘deliberately inserted herself in the wider dealings with Horizon cases’.
Well she certainly sounds like some sort of Automaton in her precise and deliberate answers to the Inquiry KC's and seems to have forgotten a lot of the information she was asked about.
Strange how so called "educated" people like her suffer amnesia on a regular basis. Selective amnesia of course.

As an experienced accountant in multiple businesses over 30 years, the answers from Mandy Talbot, are evidence of Gross Misconduct. Surely there is sufficient evidence collectively and individually to arrest all of the POL team and hold them on remand. What many people may not know is that many public servants (Civil service, agencies, contractors, police, etc. are trained and rehearsed (as permitted) on how to prepare statements, give evidence, be cross-examined, it is a lucrative industry). The behaviours revealed and on display here are standard practice. The entire Civil Service, agencies, police, judiciary are corrupt, lying, perjuring, colluding, thugs. The barrister's questions could be far more carefully and incisively designed. There should be a battery of experts crawling all over this issue. A big question is from the beginning of the implemtation, how did Finance categorise and report the suspense account 'variances' in the financial statements each month? Given the material values involved and unalaysed what measures were taken by financial managers to investigate, report, etc. these and other Horizon issues. How did the audit handle it? One thing, among many, has surprised me during these hearings. No PO witness has been asked to define 'robust'. It's a such a meaningless word, usually used about wine, or cheese. Seems like she was allowed free reign with no senior guidance oversight or policy on the verasity of Horizon. She was in a position to know the full extent of the Horizon debarkle with knowledge of the defences of the sub postmaster. She had a duty to question Horizon, demand answers and cause a panic in the board room, regardless of the consequences to directors or herself. She could have stopped it years ago. She chose to continue with the fiasco. A case of management watching their own positions regardless of the innocent.

There is a simple way of ensuring they won’t happen again: go very hard after the individuals concerned. Funnily enough you will then find that others are less likely to repeat such ‘errors’ in the future.
