@@w1swh1 Exposing the truth and malpractice by individuals or organisations is not necessarily an indication of like or dislike, just a factual presentation of the circumstances as they were and still are.
Exactly! This case has exposed several faults in our society, including that our legal system has not really moved on from Georgian/Hogarthian times when starving youngsters were hung for stealing a loaf of bread i.e. big companies = good, whereas the little people = bad, not to be trusted, and up to malfeasance. Solicitors recommending the SPM's plead guilty when no money trail for the supposed stolen funds could be found or proven is quite horrifying.
A masterclass in delivering a closing statement. If this is whitewashed by penalising people at the bottom, or one person at the top, then there should be Hell to pay !!! This goes all the way to the top - contributed by multiple people !!!
Importantly this enquiry puts the spotlight on all government institutions and the ruthless lack compassion and utter arrogant mentality of state employee's. This goes much further than the Post Office!
It was a magnificent performance from Mr Henry, his sub postmaster clients must be proud of what he’s done for them. Edward Henry KC and what a KC, on a par with Jason Beer KC
This was an elegant and well thought out statement. Well done. I hope that those responsible for this travesty will be brought to account. Equally importantly, I hope that compensation will be speedily enacted for the victims of this shocking miscarriage of justice.
Like the people at the riots, the 'Right wing thugs' these poor Post Office people were told to plead guilty. This barrister represented Man City at the 115 charges tribunal I believe.
Very powerful summing-up. It's reawakened my outrage at this whole issue after I watched the tv drama, and the long-drawn-out enquiry and blame-shifting which has followed. 'Dickensian', as was said by the lawyer. I suspect he was thinking of Jarndyce v Jarndyce.
I am from Canada and was in the UK this summer and used a sub postoffice to mail two parcels back to Canada. I have never seen such a complicated system to mail a parcel. Forms for the staff to fill in, little stickers to be moved around and a minimal counter space to do it in. I even had to push my parcel over the screen. The system needs a good dose of chlorine to be made efficient.
The key point is not Horizon, but the way it was abused.however, the architect of horizon support ed th e myth it was infallible, so he bares a huge moral, and hopefully, legal responsibility too.
The Post Office Board and their toady friends are completely guilty and should go to prison. They are worse than any armed robber who has held up a Sub Post Office. None of the board or senior staff should a pension and all their salaries should paid back.
Apparently the police are now expanding an already substantial team, investigating and preparing cases for prosecution. The channel Art of Law posted a update on 14th December 2024. I think he said 2027 is the earliest, then it be still going in 2030. There is an enormous amount of information from the inquiry itself, let alone the supporting information, used and unused then whatever Horizon data, they can use.

I hope the @BBC @ITV and other media organisations pick up on these closing statements and get this back in the limelight. Looking at our new government, I feel sure they will not be fighting for the SPMs ……
THAT Edward Henry KC, is what I call a summing up and the only thing missing was a standing ovation at the end of it.
A passionate eloquent advocate. Bravo, Sir!
What a great summing up by this KC
This summary is a thing of beauty, so accurately pointing out the ugliness of the Post Ofgice.Sorry, Office
What a masterclass! Well done Sir!
I'm not sure if I should send this KC a 4 pack of Stella or see if we can get this guys onto the new year's honours list.
Total legend.
I get the impression that Mr. Henry does not like the Post Office.
Yes I got that impression as well😊

@@w1swh1 He does not like injustice , do you ?
Does anyone after this?
Judges should have known better. The fact there were so many charges/convictions was an indication in itself that there was something else afoot.

We need to hear ARISE SIR EDWARD HENRY KC
Or an OBE at the least. This speech was amazing. A truly great man.
And Sir Jason Beer !
A wonderful summing up. If there is any justice there should be jail sentences. Sadly, I fear there will not be.

‘It goes right to the top. ‘ does that include politicians and Prime Ministers?’

🐯🦉 Great speech, but how about calling for a criminal enquiry…. 🤔
Wonderful !

And, sadly, when things go wrong, by error, omission or incompetence, it is exactly the same with the NHS and most other government bodies.
And local councils are on the same level.
And that is why lucy letby as ended up in prison
Hopefully the police are moving towards bringing Vennells in for questioning
Very well said Sir my hope now is some justice
I admire Mr Henry greatly. Wynn has been rough on him at times but he remains stoic in his believe.
Like the people at the riots, the 'Right wing thugs' these poor Post Office people were told to plead guilty. This barrister represented Man City at the 115 charges tribunal I believe.
Interesting, thanks.

If Edward ever narrates Ebooks I would buy everything he narrated . Great summary
How damning was that!. But nothing will change unless charges are brought against these filthy villains. This fight will go on until the bitter end.

And i bet not one of them will go to jail
Eloquent, true, poetical

A beautifully crafted closing statement,
I say Imprisonment for the whole board.. ALL of them.
Ceo's beware!!!
The Post Office Board and their toady friends are completely guilty and should go to prison. They are worse than any armed robber who has held up a Sub Post Office. None of the board or senior staff should a pension and all their salaries should paid back.
and now the very same tony blair who imposed horizon wants to impose digital id.
Oh you mean the Tony Blair who believed in WMDs! What a freud he has turned out be!
He should be charged too.
And perhaps an even bigger crime is that no one is facing prosecution nor will they- just another cover up

People died.......And Vennells walked away with millions.
She should be made to give every penny she stole back and do time like the innocent PM's

How so, Debs?
