Just purchased this from Stan Outdoors as my first thumb button release. As someone that is coming from the index type release, I like having the option of the strap, while getting used to this type of release. I plan to use this in an upcoming local club 3D league, so I also like the security of having it attached to my wrist as we make our way through the woods, as well as the tight stage lanes that add a level of difficulty.

    Pretty sweet.
Wish it had a rotating head.
Nobody makes a sear style release with a rotating head anymore...
Still clinging to my trufire hardcore revolution 4 finger

I had a Spot Hog friday night delight great realease but the one i had was a little small for my fingers, went to a Scott Sigma with a closed jaw, great release just not for hunting in my opinion, after seeing this i might go down and see if they have one in store to try

I don’t quite understand this new trend of “hunter” button releases. I want a closed hook like the Onnex to hang on my D-loop. The biggest benefit of going handheld is not having something strapped to your wrist.
    This is a regression.

      Agreed.
      I hunt south Florida.
Wrist straps become stinky/sweaty in no time. Love my thumb release with the keeper so it stays put on the string.

If you hunt out west, this makes sense. I may cover 10-20 miles in a day elk hunting. I am always worried about misplacing my hand held on the mountain or not having time to pull it out.

Not everyone walks 100yds to a blind and then sits there for the rest of the day. Anyone hunting on their feet doesn't want to have a release clipped on their bow while putting on the miles, and if you keep it in a pocket then the odds that it falls out or you take it out and leave it somewhere also aren't good.

Probably for only 300 bucks you can have one. Crazy how much stuff cost anymore. No wonder they say not as many people are getting into huntung. It cost to damn much.

Nope, its $200; but I do agree with the prices of things... Not sure how they can charge so much for a chunk of stainless with gears and sears inside.

DO NOT BUY THE STAN AXIS! I bought this release a year and a half ago, and it usually works fine...until it doesn't. Every so often, when drawing your bow back, it will release mid pull, resulting in you seriously punching yourself in the face. I was still healing from the last round a month or so ago (which I think is going to leave a permanent scar on my lip it was so bad), and now it just did it again today! I guess my safety as a result of their terrible product does not matter to them because I emailed Stan last time this happened, and they did not care enough to even respond. Yes, the tension is set correctly (set by the shop) and it works perfectly most of the time...just every so often it fails. Yes, I make sure to reset it between shots (I am totally anal about making sure I do this after several times punching myself in the face). At this point, I am developing a flinch because I spent over $200 on it, so I have really tried repeatedly to give it a chance.

It's about time release makers get rid of cocking buttons. This should have bedn onnex
