Sick build man! Glad to see im not the only one trying to make a competitive 400ex these days. Such a solid base to build exatly like you want. I run alot of the same stuff. But for xc i have to ask why no flexx bars?
I like Flexx bars, but the clamps are a simple design that just felt more comfortable to me! Both work well though!
He explained that they made the bars to busy.or at least look busy.which they do. But they are nice bars.but just another thing to maintain. i actually bought a fabric that has a rubber flexible side to it, that i cut and made to go over the pivot pin area of the flex bars to keep dirt and mud and water off them so it doesnt wash the grease out or get it grime inside the frictional points. it definitly eleminates the need to maintain them really at all actually. it stretchs so it can stay tight on the bars as they flex and pivot. I sewed velcro straps on them to hold them on. So you just wrap the strap around After you lay the fabric piece down. I have one for each side of the bars so it doesnt cover the middle crossbar pad at all.

What fourwerks hood are you running. And what did u have to do to make it fit?
I don’t know if went over it in the video but what hood is that on your 400 because I’ve been looking for a carbon hood for the 2005 400 but fourwerx only makes them for the 99 and 04 models
Order a 04 450r hood, . Pit 2 new holes in for the upper slip in slots, drill the 2 lower fender pop its. And good to go
Was the EHS lid conversion worth it? I've been wanting to get one for my 2002 400ex
Benefit of no airbox lid. With air filter protection. For xc. It was definitely worth it
What’s the jetting on it? I have a fcr41 on mine and I’m having a really hard time getting it dialed in. Bogs on the lower end
Depending on the .otor build. 41fcr could be to much carb, causing lower end to be "doggy". Unfortunately I'm not sure what jets were in it. Something says 180 and 42. But I cant remember.
The little can on top of the head pipe does that come on all Empires?

Stock airbox. Stock airbox tube.

From the looks of it its just a 450r hood that he made fit on the 400 plastics
Yes. Jusy made the 450r hood fit the 05-07 400ex plastics. Very easy to do.

Sorry I've missed your comment, there were +1s for xc, to bring width out to about 47.5" wide roughly.
Again this was a xc setup!!

450r hood
Yes, this wS a 450r hood. Minor modifications they fit great. Use thev04-05 hood, being the headlights were same theyre really close to perfect fit. I had to razor blade some slots for the hook tabs on hood to latch into fenders. Quick simple modification that really puts a nice tough on them
does the empire exhuast sell a shorty?
Yes. They sell a shorty, standard 12 and a 16inch can!

Strip it down, and find a local powder coater!! Its alot of work. But well worth it.
What nerf bars are those
These were old school houser nerf bars... unfortunately they don't make these anymore for the 400ex. And the nerfs they do make are a new design, and didnt work as good! If I built another machine I'd probably choose factory 43. Or rath!

@@jerkfalife I always ran 20w-50 in my air vooled quads. And three wheelers. Almost any engine builder will recommend it to. 20w-50 won't break down so thin when the engine gets ridiculously hot. I pulled the original crank out of this quad from. 06, raced since 2010.. it was still good, I just wanted a Carrillo for the build. The rpm I was cranking was scary with a stock ros

Houser still makes 400ex a-arms
They do not make long travel Aarms. They make standard travel Aarms still. But if you want some decent suspension... Long travel is about the only way to go.

I think your 400 is really cool and all but if you were to go racing and spend 15k wouldn’t you just want to get a 450 of some sort.
