    I just got a 2013 convertible. So far I love it.

    I’ve had my 2013 Abarth cabrio for about 3-4 months now and I absolutely adore the hell out of it. Sure it may be short on some “features” and the interior is somewhat cheap. But this isn’t a car you buy for any of that, you buy this thing to just drive and by god it does it in the most fun ways possible lol most of what’s said in the video is accurate, but I’m 6’2” and I have more room than I ever imagined I’d get. I’d go as far to say it’s very spacious, that’s how much room I have and also plenty of head space. Wildly odd, unique and by far my favorite vehicle ever

    • @wheelsthings1756
      @wheelsthings1756  2 года назад +1

      Agree. Sometimes I wish the interior was a bit nicer and the seats were more bolstered but to get that I’d have to pay at least three times what I paid for this car.

    • @joeyteter9383
      @joeyteter9383 2 года назад

      @@wheelsthings1756 yea definitely agree. But I got very lucky with the used one I bought, all the things that usually fall apart or happen to it in general haven’t happened. At least not yet. It’s not hard for me to overlook a “cheap” interior though, I just want to enjoy the experience and I do

    • @ASecureLab

      To me the cheapness of it is part of the fun, feels like driving a badass soapbox. let be honnest, no car ever was made as cheap as a fiat 500.. but its fun.

      Absolutely agree! I’ve had mine for a little while now and it’s still my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned, but at a very wide margin!

      @wheelsthings1756  2 года назад +1

      Yep. Especially when you try to work in the tiny engine bay. But I agree that no other car can beat it on smiles per dollar.

    I know this is an older video, but I bought a 2017 Abarth with 200 miles on it for a song and a dance in 2019 because no one wanted it. I guess it's due to Fiat pulling out of the USA and also the old "Fix It Again Tony" quality issues. It's now mid 2022 and with 25k miles it's has been the most trouble free car I've ever owned, all I've done is regular maintenance. It's an absolute blast to drive and being the pearl yellow, with the black Abarth stripe and some other mods I've down like blacking the tail lights, turn signals and headlights (not the driving lights) it's a bit of a head turner. On the highway at 70 mph I'm getting 36 mpg and combined 32 mpg. A great little hot hatch that I plan on keeping for many years.

    I really enjoyed your review! Thorough and professional. I really wanted to get more information on hill starting and your thoughts on using it. I haven't tried mine yet, but will, this spring. I bought my 500 convert able new in 2012. Chrysler offered a VERY limited time "lifetime bumper to bumper warranty" for around $3000 over sticker. It excluded the usual wear and tear parts + no body or interior parts. This was the best new car money we have ever spent! So far, they have honored said warranty, albeit, with some very firm conversation at times! Since they claimed the warranty was transferable within the family, our 13 year old grandson may get his chance to test "Chrysler's Warranty Integrity". Stay tuned!

    Well done! That was the most detailed and informative video I've seen, thus far. I learned things about the Abarth that weren't mentioned in other videos I've encountered. For instance, other videos didn't demonstrate and go over the sunroof and interior lites in detail. In a future video, would you please compare and contrast your 2012 with a 2019. 2019 was the last year these were produced in the US. I'd love to know whether or not there were any significant cosmetic, feature, and performance changes between yours and a 2019.

    Nice detailed vid!
    Both the scissor jack and the pump should go under the driver's seat, and in mine there's a velcro strap to strap around the pump so it doesn't move about. My jack comes in a little pouch as well and I think there should be some additional tools in there (never opened mine). Front tires on my 2013 takes 38psi before the TPMS is happy, and I find that the screw in pump (use the black hose) is great for topping up the air pressure.
    Gauges are still terrible (I have now 1 year of ownership from a used purchase) and its still somewhat bothersome. What I wouldn't do for just a giant tachometer.
    Its quite a vertical seating position for the front passengers, which is different from most passenger sedans - almost like a van type of seating position. It is, as you say, surprisingly comfortable.
    There's also an after-run coolant pump that turns on if there's been some driving at sufficient temperature and you turn the ignition off and park, to keep your turbo happy . On a hot day or after some spirited driving you should hear a hum after the engine turns off; get it checked if you don't.
    I manage to avoid scratching the radio buttons by using the wheel buttons solely.
    Your ESC off button is different from my 2013, which is near the hood release instead.
    Enjoy the little monster!

      @wheelsthings1756  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for the detailed comment. I'll have to check under the drivers seat for more parts for the Jack.
      I have noticed the coolant pump running after I shut it off so I think that's working fine. Honestly I think it happens pretty much every time even when I'm just driving in stop and go traffic.

    Fold the front seats before folding the rear seats. The rear seats will then fold flat and you can move the front seats back to their seating position.

    something most people do not know. If you quickly lock and unlock the doors from the interior handles, it activates the trunk button so you do not need to remove the key and use the fob to activate it.
    The car does have variable delay wipers.. just that the driver does not have control over the delay, it is set by the speed of the car. Kind of a weird way to do it, even by fiat standards.
    My 1977 Fiat 124 Sport Spider has a similar interior door handle/lock button. Pull up on the handle to open the door, push it down to lock.

    • @sailingspark9748
      @sailingspark9748 Год назад

      @@rickc303 There are two ways to unlock the rear hatch. One is to press the button for the hatch on the keyfob, and then open the hatch. This only seems to work if the keys are not in the ignition. The other is to lock the doors by hand and then quickly unlocking them, this unlocks the hatch as well.

    I bought a used '12, Sport 5 spd. about a year ago. I took out the rear seat, and carpeted the floor. Such a small car, no need for anything but cargo in the back. Plus, it took out 45 lbs. A design flaw is the rear hatch wiring harness feeding the rear. Mine was chafed and had previous repair (caused by the hatch going up & down over the years). It fed the rear wiper, defogger, & license plate lights (which were blown on mine), and I suppose, the electric rear hatch button. I put a universal LED license plate light on it & spliced in to a rear tail light. I could care less about the defogger & wiper & never use 'em anyway. The hatch opener continues to work. I also removed the spare, which mine came with, for weight. The wipers on front are 24 inch & 14 inch, although a 15 inch will fit in the smaller wiper's place. My dash vents are for looks only. I keep 'em all turned off. No dust. In winter I only use defroster & foot settings. In summer I roll the windows down, never use A/C. Here's a trick I learned with mine, I removed the rear view mirror. It gives the driver so much more forward view without it. Also wonderful at night with no headlights coming back at ya. The 2 outside mirrors are all you need. I adjust those way out so no reflections from headlights as well.

    • @kolbpilot
      @kolbpilot 3 года назад

      @@wheelsthings1756 : Not that I've needed it but there's a button inside the oil filler hole, underneath the oil cap when you take it off. This is for re-priming the Multiair brick should it ever need it. Oil eventually runs out of the brick back in to the engine over time (several weeks) if the car just sits there unused. This causes the valves not to work, so, the system needs re-priming with that button.

    W&T- Thank you for all of you effort in this video! I know how time consuming it is to edit videos to be a fluid presentation. You did a great job! I mostly appreciate your engineering approach to the car's feature. You have a good cadence to your voice. I would only suggest you allow yourself to get verbally excited when you talk about a feature you really love. Other than that, this wss great! It helped me make the decision to buy one. I would like to know the year of this car and the differences between the years this model was available. Keep making videos about this car. I am subcribed.
