    No need to do any dismantling in fact. Remove head of oil filter. Reach down. Upturn head. Remove filter from cap with one hand. Bring up. Reach down again and bring up cap. Place new gasket on cap. Place back down in engine bay inverted. Follow down with filter. Place filter in cap. Turn filter around and screw in.

    How did you get the bracket out for the motor mount? You say you struggled with it and I too am struggling. I can't jack up or down enough to get every bolt out. But either way, it wont come out because of the stud on the bottom. The frame is in the way and the stud seems way too long to actually get it out at all.

      I've got the same problem. Everybody says they struggled with it but nobody says how they got it out. I was able to get all the bolts out, I even got the mount off the stud. Now it just wiggles around but WILL NOT come out.

    Hi! Love your video! I have a 2012 non-turbo Fiat 500 Sport. I am thinking about having the timing belt and water pump service e done. The car is 11 years old with 113000 miles. How many miles were on your Abarth when you did your service. Based on another one of your videos I believe it was 165,000? The manual calls for the service at 150,000 or 15 years. Based on your experience, would you advise me to do the service at 113,000? I drive about 6,000 miles a year. Thanks!

    • @joshuamckinney2687
      @joshuamckinney2687 Год назад

      Hey Robert. I’m obviously not a mechanic but timing belt and water pump is definitely preventative maintenance. They could last for the life of the car but replacement is recommended because the consequence for failure is a ruined engine. You are correct the car had about 165000 miles. I didn’t know if the service had ever been done so I decided to do it.

    Bought a brand new 500 Abarth in 2017 with 30 miles on it. This month with 17, 120 miles on it (5 years later) the multi air system crapped out. $3000 in total repair and labor bills. Not happy with that especially after babying the car, using special fuel, oils etc as per the manual. Dealer says it is very rare but it happens. GRRR!

    So, any updates? I have a 2013 with 17 inch wheels, around 45K miles on it since new. No issues, changed the sparks at 25K, changed the battery, oil changes every 6 months, 3rd set of tires.. just using for short commutes mainly and weekend drives (other than one 600 mile total round trip).. burns oil, but just need to keep an eye on it and top it up. Having driven many other faster cars, and owning a WRX, I can say the Abarth 500 is more fun than pretty much anything else less than 30K. Changing the shifter with a short shifter, and adding a 'Madness go-pedal' were the best mods.

    W&T- Thank you for all of you effort in this video! I know how time consuming it is to edit videos to be a fluid presentation. You did a great job! I mostly appreciate your engineering approach to the car's feature. You have a good cadence to your voice. I would only suggest you allow yourself to get verbally excited when you talk about a feature you really love. Other than that, this wss great! It helped me make the decision to buy one. I would like to know the year of this car and the differences between the years this model was available. Keep making videos about this car. I am subcribed.

    I know this is an older video, but I bought a 2017 Abarth with 200 miles on it for a song and a dance in 2019 because no one wanted it. I guess it's due to Fiat pulling out of the USA and also the old "Fix It Again Tony" quality issues. It's now mid 2022 and with 25k miles it's has been the most trouble free car I've ever owned, all I've done is regular maintenance. It's an absolute blast to drive and being the pearl yellow, with the black Abarth stripe and some other mods I've down like blacking the tail lights, turn signals and headlights (not the driving lights) it's a bit of a head turner. On the highway at 70 mph I'm getting 36 mpg and combined 32 mpg. A great little hot hatch that I plan on keeping for many years.

    something most people do not know. If you quickly lock and unlock the doors from the interior handles, it activates the trunk button so you do not need to remove the key and use the fob to activate it. The car does have variable delay wipers.. just that the driver does not have control over the delay, it is set by the speed of the car. Kind of a weird way to do it, even by fiat standards. My 1977 Fiat 124 Sport Spider has a similar interior door handle/lock button. Pull up on the handle to open the door, push it down to lock.

    • @sailingspark9748
      @sailingspark9748 Год назад

      @@rickc303 There are two ways to unlock the rear hatch. One is to press the button for the hatch on the keyfob, and then open the hatch. This only seems to work if the keys are not in the ignition. The other is to lock the doors by hand and then quickly unlocking them, this unlocks the hatch as well.
