the new subarus look like a real pain in the ass to work on
Fox seems easy to me. It'll take 10 mins to take off the header and turbo. Oil changes are a breeze with the filter on top of the engine. Intake is easy to access as well

Seems like you’re able to remove and install headers without removal of the turbo, you can probably support it in the air; or am I wrong?
Technically you can but it makes it much difficult, I did it like three times already on my Subaru… had trouble with the gaskets between the manifold
What would be the best headers to go with for best performance?
Do you need to remove the J pipe from the turbo or can you just take it out with it?

Kyle Morgese, I know what you mean, but I had the tomei unequal headers and tomei titanium cat back and my car was working fine, but with a tune it was more responsive and more powerr

Perrin Egr delete
Perrin TGV delete

Do I have to tune it again with this header install?
Everyone claims to not need a tune for these specific headers, but like anything really, it's a Subaru. If you get a tune it WILL be noticeable
I have 2015 WRX with axle back muffler delete only so that would mean theses heads wouldn’t need a tune? 🤔
So I noticed someone posted a back to back comparison to the OEM and replacement. What it looks like to me is the ports may be slightly smaller in diameter. Can anyone confirm???

Are these headers CARB approved and ie, smog legal?? I have been studying and observing the Subaru WRX and STI for the last 2 years.... I want to buy the brand new WRX 2022 because of the new engine the 2.4 engine..... I have always put exhaust headers on my vehicle for extra power and better efficiency.... I am going to have to continue to do research to find out if Subaru W Rex Turbo headers are smug legal and if I can buy them and install them and make them work and make them CARB legal.....
Could you tell us all the hoses you have replaced? Is there a kit? I would love the reliability before I start modding?

hey @subispeed I'm trying to do my header gaskets do i have to take everything off to do that? i have a small leak what looks like its coming from bolt to header. I just want to do them both but don't want to remove everything :( thank you
Thomas Gonzales you should find out if your car has a recall, my 17 wrx has a recall on my headers and it caused it to have a leak.

I wish the FA20 had that suby rumble. I personally am not a fan of its sound and I own one 😢...

mervyn burnett I felt the same way when I got my 15’ wrx. It’ll grow on you over the years though. Trust me. Also we don’t have to worry about UEL header problems like EJ engines which is a plus

I was thinking that too. With all that is required for removal, no way I would want to just keep the factory on there... guess we will see once I get may additional add-ons haha

all depends on what parts you go with, what manufacturers you use, who tunes the car, pump gas vs e85/flex fuel, what your direction of tune you want (squeeze every whp/wtq or be a bit more "conservative"), and not to mention every dyno reads different. You should also do a little research on reliability of these motors at that power but more importantly wtq. One major weakness of these motors is the rods, which there are many theories and "case-studies" done for multiple outcomes. But I am no expert so do a little research.
Reliable and safe 350whp you need to spend 10-15k in parts. If you want half ass job then cheaper and hope engine doesn’t blow
will a header void factory warranty ?? ... and no tune will be required ?? .. can someone actually answer this question that actually knows and not just someone trying to sell a product
Chodda I believe it will void the warranty if you replace the OEM with aftermarket. yes you can put in aftermarket parts but it would be more SAFE if you get a tune with it. plus you'll get more power and response with the tune.

No, you do not need a tune, but a tune will take advantage of the extra airflow the headers and cat back will give, if you are installing a dump pipe or down pipe, then you will need it since it'll run rich

how much boost pressure do you loose with equal length headers? the varying length of the headers is designed to deliver pressure from ONE exhaust valve to the spooling turbine at the same time as the OTHER exhaust vales in order to obtain optimum boost acceleration and pressure. Does anyone have information on how much boost is lost with this mod? I'm curious to know.
The factory header is an equal length design on the FA20 powered WRX. You don't lose any boost pressure with this manifold.

These videos are so unrealistic. I purchase this header and just finished Installing it moments ago, took me four hours. The perrin gaskets are trash and don't match the bolt pattern of the motor so I had to reuse the old ones, and they dont show you the reinstall and how difficult it is to reach the inside but on each side of the head to the motor. I would not recommend trying to install this header yourself unless you have a shop with a lift like they do and a 2ft extension for your rather, with a universal swivel
These videos are meant to be used as guides. Also, we were able to use the supplied gaskets with no issues. Of course having the proper tools will help with the install. We always recommend having a professional do the install if a customer is not sure or is worried.

The car had a rumble, it’s just not a throaty and loud as the EJ motor.

If you listen, at the end of the video we mention about tuning... Our car was tuned.
