Recently bought a pristine condition 3DS from a local retro game shop. I was putting on a screen protector and protective shell. The bottom of the console had a circular gold metallic sticker on it. That sticker smeared a lot when I tried to pull it off. I was spending a lot of time trying to scrub the residue with alcohol wipes with little progress. After watching this video, I had the dust removal sticker next to me from the screen protector kit. With several dabs with the dust removal sticker and a couple alcohol wipes in between, it worked like a charm.
Some retro game stores have realized this so they'll put the sticker on a small bit of paper and then slide it under the cover or use a small bit of tape they remove at the register. They'll have the game name on the sticker and have the cashier check.
Great alternative! Never thought of using tape! I do use rubbing alcohol but the way I would do it is keep applying the alcohol and rubbing it with cotton swabs but this seems better!
I'm not sure if I've every come across those kind of stickers but my go to is just removing the art and everything from the case and using a q tip to soak the sticker in goo gone or bestine. Let it sit for a while (bestine usually dries too quick to soak though) and let it do it's work. If enough of the goo gone got into the adhesive it should just peel right off and you can wipe off any residue left behind. If there's paper left behind just do it again and let it soak again.
The GameStop near me used to put the sticker on the slip cover itself. That’s on forever 😂 Have you ever had to put on those stickers while working at the video game store?
Yeah all the time. That was back in the yellow sticker days. Some of the worst stickers were from that era. If its on the cover you have to heat it up with a blow dryer and hope it comes off without tearing
I personally use a tiny dab of WD-40, and wipe it off with a cloth. Works pretty well. Do you happen to know what you would use for a sticker that is directly on the paper-cover?
You would most likely destroy the paper unless it has some good lacquer over it lol. Best thing to do is probably heat it up with a hair dryer and see if it budges
@@GacktCognac I'll try that. I've also tried a creditcard and nipping at the underneath of the sticker, which somewhat works. But it's extremely slow. Thanks
Good advice Gackt Cognac on removing stickers off of the game case. Now I have a sealed copy of Brigandine Collectors on Switch with stickers on both the front and back corners. The game store where I got this from placed the stickers there. Since I have another copy of this game, standard edition which I played and finished. Just want to keep the collectors edition sealed and hopefully without the stickers on the cellophane. Any advice to remove those stickers. Thanks and enjoy your videos as always.
The switch cellophane is quite fragile. I'd just peel off what I can and use the goo gone on it as much as i hate to. And slowly rub it off and polish is with some alcohol to get the greasiness of the goo gone off.
The best thing to use and you don't even have to take any of the sticker off is lighter fuel. Two to three little drops and leave for a minute or two works all the time
Btw if you don't have tape you can actually use the sticker itself instead of the tape, if it's not destroyed or one from another game. It's less effective though. If there's a lot of residue in one spot, you can rub the pad of your finger over it (NOT THE NAIL) and roll it off. It won't completely clean it but it will make it easier for the tape. Some people have managed to rebend the clear plastic if it's stretched but not broken by applying a light amount of heat. But oftentimes it's worth it to just swap the case. People on eBay will resell new cases for various consoles.
get goof off 2, in a orange spray bottle. stuff removes all of that stuff EASY, bad part sort of leaves a semi chemical smell if you leave alot (depending on what you use it on), but you can then use IPA or something else aftewards to clean that. Stuff cuts through marker like nobodies business too.
I cant stand the smell on that stuff. Lol i kinda did the video on slow mo but i can get that stuff off with my method in seconds since ive been doing it for so long.
@@GacktCognac you seen those plastic scrapers too? they make ones for scraping glass that have a razor blade, I got some that have plastic edges attached, love using these as well
My dad used to have a giant one you attach a long azz razor to. You use it to scrape all the padding, nails, and tack strips off the ground. Used to love doing that.

Copped a lot GameCube games today, actually…been the first day I went out in a month… paid 18 bucks for 15 games(11 loose) Pikman 2 is in there and some heavy hitters…least like 3 are 80 dollar titles… But was literally doing this today lol… Don’t want to put the goo wong on the wong way, lol…but ya for real though(I have goo gone) but I find using the same sticker I pealed off the game itself…sometimes you don’t even need tape…

For that real bad sticky residue, I use lighter fluid, the kind you use to refill zippo lighters. I dunno what the lighter fluid is made of, but it acts like a solvent on most kinds of sticker glue. Obviously remove the sleeve beforehand, and be very careful as it is obviously flammable.
@@GacktCognac I left ya a link to my buddies video on sticker removal. It is by far the greatest and only way to remove stickers. This is his video: ruclips.net/video/MGmbyHtN1y0/видео.html Trust me 🤙
This is a amateur video, just use lighter fluid, just dab sticker with lighter fluid let it sit for 30 second and it will peel off like magic, remove any remaining glue residue with more lighter fluid. better and safer than any other products, it will not stain as it evaporates very fast, I do this on very expensive vinagae toy packaging, you will thank me :)

Yeah just rubbing alcohol just smudges it out the way and still tends to leave some residue. Definitely try it out!
Thank you very much. After trying several times with sanitizer, body spray and even shaving blade 🤭, this roller tape technic worked for me.
That tape trick is incredible. 10/10

Any idea how to remove those chromy sitckers on fifa games?
Appreciate the video. I had three blu ray cases that had torn off stickers stuck on them and now they look great 👍🏻

Would this work if the sticker is on the front of the disc itself?
