Even though I’m late to seeing this video I’m glad that we have similar ways of cleaning games. I wasn’t always cleaning games. I used to just leave them as is but about a year ago started to focus on making them look like new. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with patience. Unfortunately if cover art is water damage there is no way of bringing it back I had a few damage artworks in the past I ended up swapping them out for better ones. That’s the only thing I would say that I don’t have information on far as making it look like new if it’s even possible. I’m glad that I’m not the only person that likes to take care of my games & make them look like new completely. Thanks for making the video! Peace and love
You're welcome and thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. Water damage is a tough. To my knowledge there is no other method besides that you just said. I tried soaking them with minimal water than I used flatiron trough a cotton fabric. The outcome is not perfect, best option is to get a replacement like you just said.
2:55 I was scared for your finger close to the blade 🤣 anyway thanks for the video I cleaned before second hand games that I got but now I will ''deep'' clean them so they look even better
@@andymaverick yeah they came out pretty good not like a brand new game but better than just wiped with wet wipes. Stickers, dirt inside the case, dust under the transparent protection for the cover art all gone. I didn't had alcohol so I used sanitizer as you said and it works.
I don't know if I'll explain this right but you can use tape to get sticker residue off. If you take a piece of clear shipping tape and roll it like you would if you were sticking a picture on the wall or something. Then keep pressing and pulling where the residue is, it'll come off.
If its not an original sticker that comes by default it does not matter. It's rare that some stickers add to the value. Some people leave them some take it off. Its up to you and your collection goals. I take them off most of the time.
I have a few cases with the same problem. I tried with heat before but I got mixed and mostly negative results. Still have a few ideas like ironing it without melting anything. I'm planning a second episode for this video so i will include the method if I can figure it out.
I'm shocked at how similar your process is to mine. I like to use a smallamount of gt 85 on my cases though. It has ptfe so refreshes the plastic. You can get it cheap I asda or in halfords. You can spend several hours if you have quite a few to do so I wait till I've got about 10 to 15 and do them systematically. Great video tutorial.
Nice to meet a fellow cleaning enthusiast. You have a great tactic with the 10-15 case system. I usually clean like 20-30 cases and it feels like it will never end. Thank you for the kind words and I will try that gt 85 next time.
I tried tackling these before with little to no luck. I would not recommend messing with them for now. I tried freezing them off before but that left the glue on the artwork.
Do the video game cases feel smoother with less friction? because that’s the issue that I’m having yet I can’t really describe it well. Might follow this guide because of this
You described it well. After you're done you have to feel a smooth surface. If the game case has a lot of fingerprints that can cause a sandpaper like feeling when holding it.
Is using a lysol disinfecting wipes on the disk and case a good thing? I always just used this and I never had issues but I was wondering if it would damage the disk or the case itself.
I just checked out lysol wipes. I'm sure it can leave small micro scratches but It's not bad at all. It should be okay if it worked before. You can't avoid micro scratches when you clean discs. Oh and I'm sure that the case will be fine.
Thank you for the kind words. I will add it in part 2, It's hard to choose music what is good and not copyrighted. There were a lots of good ideas from the viewers so I want to try them and I will search for some music.
You know some place to buy Xbox 360 cases? Similar to original quiality? I bought the amazon cases but looks so cheap so im looking for a place for this
I'm sorry I don't know where to find good replacement cases. I purchased some a few years ago but they where cheap and brittle. The original amaray where the best.
After months of search, somehow I got a copy of FF7 Remake Integrade for PS5. The case is like-new, but the plastic outside was a bit dirty. Thank you for the video
That would be a lot of work, you could clean them for over a week. Did you bought most of them second handed? Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my video.
@@andymaverick PS3 games are like 30% new and 70% second-hand, while PS4 games are the other way around. I have 400 discs in total (not counting PS5 games, as these are all brand new). It took me 2 hrs to clean 10 discs, meaning I'm gonna spend a lot of time doing this
That's a nice collection there! I'm almost the same with mine. As the generations get older I have more and more second hand games in them. I have like 380 total across ps1,2,3,4,5 and xbox,360,one and series. I have few nintendo bits here and there but man, collecting is tireing😅.
My problem is that my stupid 2 yo sister put some kind of destroyed sticker on the foil covering it and now the clay is on it and I broke the paper like pic under the foil I hate her! 😭😭😭 I tried everything to keep it clean and this little shit destroyed it! 😢
I'm sorry to hear that, don't be too harsh to your sister she's little. What game did this happend to? Maybe you can replace it if you have no other options😕.
Yeah, first you should try what you said it's a good method but It does not work with every sticker. If it would be this simple we didn't have to talk about it and spend hours cleaning our collections.
You're right, I just wanted show all the methods that I know and use. I heard about lighter fluid used in this application. Thank you for the tips and I will try out the lighter fluid.
Came here for the sticker part, but now you've convinced me all my games need a full cleaning. Excellent guide, well done.
Thank you for the kind words, I'm happy to be a positive influence. Cleaning can be a long process but its worth it.
Very useful, especially the opening of the PS1 case, so simple and no need to use a stanley blade, thank you very much.
I'm glad it was helpful, you're welcome!
Such a great guide, I cleaned up some of the worst games right after this and the difference was insane
I can imagine, people tend to look over these things. Thanks for the feedback, I'm happy that my video was useful.
This guide is so damn good. Thank you so much.
Glad to help!

Used a stiletto and applied the technique you used, worked perfectly
I'm happy to hear that my technique was useful. A sharp stiletto is also a good choice.
Bully and Nightfire. Grew up with both of those games. Awesome games!
I'm happy to hear, they're a lot fun!
Thanks to you I found one of my games from my childhood I didn’t remember the name and it’s Prisioner of War,been looking for Yearss
I'm happy that I could help. It's a really good game!

You explaind it well, I use it a lot. You can use the sticker that you just took off to get the residue off but it won't work with every sticker.
Do the stickers have anything to do with the games value? Or does it not matter

is there a way to get the little bumps out of the clear plastic layer of the case?
I have a few cases with the same problem. I tried with heat before but I got mixed and mostly negative results. Still have a few ideas like ironing it without melting anything. I'm planning a second episode for this video so i will include the method if I can figure it out.
Should you use Isopropyl alcohol when cleaning the case with the cuetips?
It wont hurt, that is good for removing any left over grime.

I have some indentations left over from where I've peeled stickers off. Will these go away over time? Or am I going to need a replacement case?
You can try empting out the case than use a hair drier on it. It will not go away completely.
I thought I was the only one who did this.
Surley not, there's hope!
Ive got a game with a sticker attached to the actual front artwork...
And another one with a sticker attached to the manual...
Anything I can do?
I tried tackling these before with little to no luck. I would not recommend messing with them for now. I tried freezing them off before but that left the glue on the artwork.

What can I use instead of a razor
I use a Scotty Peeler, works well
I use sunflower oil for stickers
Never heard about it before, awesome. I will give it a try next time!
@@andymaverick affordable cheap removal that everyone has but you need to let it soak for like an hour and it smells like kitchen
I use Goo Gone. Works like a charm. Spray directly on the sticker, wait a few minutes, then peel right off.
bro ive never thought about usig a raser blade. i always used my nails
We learn something new every day, I'm glad I could help. By the way, I used my nails before but it didn't work out for me.
Those stickers were paid actors
It's rare i remove one without leaving the glue on the case 😭
I chuckled😆. From time to time I find some stickers that are pain in the... belive me.
I would leave ur disk n a cd sleeve n the case.
Awesome i also had a RUclips channel
Happy to hear that, what kind of videos were you produceing?

You don't rub the glue it just makes it worse use the sticker to pull the glue of it only takes a few seconds lol

This always result in a damaged case
Hy. I want to hear your opinion about this. Wich one of the shown technics is flawd?
Wiping the disc with a microfiber cloth scratches the disc. And using a razor blade on the case will also scratch the case. @@andymaverick
another easy way to remove stickers is to use lighter fluid. The blade is quite unsafe and non 100% idiot proof
You're right, I just wanted show all the methods that I know and use. I heard about lighter fluid used in this application. Thank you for the tips and I will try out the lighter fluid.
Or Goo Gone. That is the very best method.
WD40 works for me to get old glue off
Yeah i learned about that some time ago, oil in general works.
I didn't know, will try it next time. Thank you for the info.
Most of this is unnecessary. Clorox wipe, alcohol wipes, jobs done - no more adhesive, sticker, or germs.
Never tried Clorox wipes, will give it a go. Thanks
