Fantastic job Mike. This is actually the first one I've ever seen painted. Can't wait for everyone to learn about this dude. Just days away from the first deliveries...
what could really cool and helpful for us mere mortals, is to maybe have like 3 sections of this. First section, easy 15 to 30 min, beginner section, for when you just want to do a down dirty get the box painted as quickly as possible, then a intermediate level when your ready to take it to the next step, followed by expert when time is of no concern. Either way great job, and glad to see a paint video coming from you.
Not a bad idea! I'll try and note when I go a step further, but sadly these days with paints like contrast/speed paints if you are going for fast you aren't touching many of the paints I'm using, so since the style and materials change I'd have to paint him at least 2 different ways :D
Thank you! :) I still paint often, but usually don't record and edit for videos these days since it takes so much time. I'll try to squeeze some in every so often still though! :)
I'm very glad to hear that! I really enjoy doing them even with the work, and I like this new method as well - I will try to film more! Hardest issue is the space. This was over 800GB of 4k footage :P
Thank you Trent, it means a ton coming from you! I'm nowhere near your level (Average is in the name after all haha) but I'm very excited to see what you'll do with yours!
This mini is beyond cool, so freaking awesome! Never saw it before. And you did a really cool job on it. Love the video. I think the fact that the mini is basically static, or very little dynamic, makes him seem like this immovable force!
Finally, a painting Video again. Thank you for that great Video. And a great paint Job. Better than mine for sure. One hint, google candle lights. They look differently than fires.
We are very different painters. I have been trying to speed paint through some of my less detailed games just to cut down on my back log and get back to painting the cool stuff. I have trouble even convincing myself to just do the core and come back for expansions. I do keep a couple of busts in progress incase I feel the need for something a bit more creative.
I think you are the more common type of painter :D I don't even have a game fully painted yet, I tend to just follow what interests me so the goal of painting a whole game is only a happy side effect, not the goal.
Really nice video and very timely given the arrival of the games. hoping to get into painting (after a long absence). what did you use as a primer - assume it was some sort of spray-can grey?
oh yes should have stated that! I almost always use Tamiya's Surface Primer Grey - it's a light grey and SUPER FINE spray. Have sprayed in the snow and the heat of august with no issues ever with it - great product.
I do like GW retributer gold with agrax as the shade but your copper choice worked very well. Will you make a channel hidden by a spoil shield for the rest of this encounter as well as the other boss fights?
The spoiler stuff is indeed hard to deal with, so undecided on how to best approach that currently. This guy is featured on the miniature box art so felt safe showing him :) Retributer gold might very well be my favorite gold from them (but Gehenna's gold is great too). So smooth!
Love that you piant again! But why without music and so quick? I totally enjoyed putting up your videos to paint myself. I had Rising Sun myself and sold it(was just not that good in the end) but loved your painting videos in the background while painting myself some DnD stuff. So please more of this especially with oathsworn.
hehe noted! :) Playing around with the format as you can tell :) The raw footage was several hours long hehe - it's part of what makes editing these take up so much time :D
Dammit Dammit... did I pledge oathsworn.... nnoooo .. do I regret it yyeess... do I what it !!! Yyeess.. jezz I love to paint those and do terrain... shall wait for oathsworn 2 ..... more painting video would be nice... dirty , rust , scratch .. make it feel more real!!!! Nice job ! ...
I plan on playing with 32mm scale minis for the heroes, so I am currently painting my proxies. I can't wait for the game to arrive and I can't believe we are around a month or so away from that! Also, is there a final rulebook pdf around already?
@@TheKingofAverage Yup. It's a several reasons decision: I feel the lower scale heroes will enhance the feeling of "omg, what we've gotten into, the Deepwood is eating us all". Also, when the campaign was live I wasn't into the painting hobby, so the swappable weapons sounded awesome to me, but now I want to play with painted minis, and my hype is so over the top that I want to be able to start playing asap so I'm already working on them. A third reason is I feel Oathsworn is the perfect chance for some dark fantasy 3d printed minis to hit the table.
yes awesome! I know some people want to paint the monster right before fighting, but after they find out what it is. I don't see that actually happening often. Good luck finally finding out what it is and then stopping and packing up the game :D
@@TheKingofAverage I'm definitely not painting the monsters. At least until I've played them. As you say...it would be a daunting task to put everything back in it's place
Still waiting :) This was a mini they sent some time ago for me to take a look at. Means I can have another painting video ready for you guys though so that's nice :D
Really cool stuff, keep up the good work! Regarding other people's paint jobs of Oathsworn, there is an amazing playlist by Trent Denison on youtube with how he painted all of the heroes - really recommend it for watching, he's also doing step by step tutorials for specific parts of the minis (i.e. painting leather, or caucasian skin): ruclips.net/video/upOaDIPT7tA/видео.html
Very nice, Trent does amazing work! It's people like him actually that gave me my name Average actually so fun fact there :D Since my painting is more for the average dude haha.
Hahah, yeah, he's an amazing painter and in comparison to him all of us mere mortals are average 😄 But honestly man, I think it's really cool that you put this effort to show on your channel different aspects of our hobby, painting is somewhat hard-skill that requires lots of practice and effort, so as your viewer and amateur painter I really appreciate this quality content! :)
oh you are quite welcome :) If these didn't take so long to film and edit I'd do them far more often actually. I feel there's no better way to show respect to the artistic value in these games than a miniature painting video combining the amazing sculpt work with the amazing artwork. :)
I feel you, combining with work, family, and casual gaming you gotta make choices on what to spend these remaining few moments 😄 Fingers crossed for your painting journey then, with or without the videos!
Ahhh! Please, NO spoilers!!! If you show the minis in the thumbnail there is no way we can avoid it. Please remove any spoiler images from your future videos.
This is not a spoiler, his image is GIANT on the miniatures box you'll get :) You can see him clear as day on the Kickstarter main page and he'll look at you accusingly on your gaming shelf :D
Smart move. The brush in question is already worn out and dead. I tend to prefer synthetic, or at least cheaper than $20+ a brush alternatives because I'm rather rough with them as you can see :D They make really nice brushes though! Held up longer than W&N for instance.
Fantastic job Mike. This is actually the first one I've ever seen painted. Can't wait for everyone to learn about this dude. Just days away from the first deliveries...
Thanks a ton Toby - you did a wonderful job on him! Super excited to learn more about him :D
Is this mini a spoiler right? I know it's the the front of the box cover but as it is likely in a mistery box should it not kind of left as such? Pity

I think the fact that the mini is basically static, or very little dynamic, makes him seem like this immovable force!
Yes very much so! I see him in my head as someone who doesn't move often, that is no extra movements. Once he finds you guilty SMACK your dead.
Looks great! Will be coming back to this video soon.
I hope so! Means we got Oathsworn in our hands :D
Glad you liked him!
I was waiting for this massive video since yesterday, not knowing what it was, cool! Hyped for Oathsworn delivery
Soon enough right? :D

man I wish! I don't they they sent me a copy separate from everyone elses :P
Damn, reminded me that I haven’t painted in a while... By the way, awesome paint job! The colors you chose work really well together.
Thanks I appreciate it! :) I paint pretty often still, but not for a video, just fun :)

I backed the KS. Has it started shipping?
Already on the boats man - we should be in Oathsworn heaven within a few months now :D

I am STOKED to get it! My painting of the one with the ship shield was a blast :)
